Keep the league system or not

And went large numbers of players are abusing the system it breaks the game.  If players don't want to play in their appropriate league then the system is flawed.

So harshly punish large numbers of players. If that's the fix, that's the fix. "Everyone ELSE is doing it" is an excuse that ceased to fly for me right around the time I turned 6 or so.

You know the more I think about this, the more I believe that there will never be a solution to the Tanking/clubbing problem...It has never been solved in any other game as well when it goes under other terms...What can one do in light of this? Squad to prevent the tank on your side. That's about it.

Solo play is, and will continue to be, a cesspool because the game is only as good as the people committed to play by the intended rules. If there is a large base of the players wanting to exploit the game, that ruins the experience of others, and ultimately the game itself.

The game is only as good as the quality of its player base, and this one has some serous turds floating around.

I mean no disrepect to you, Blastro, but you do seem to enjoy the turd pool. You were one of the first to intentionally jump into it, and you've gone on to brag about your accomplishments amongst the other turds. Are you really qualified to speak about what goes on outside the turd pool, amongst the honest players?

I can only speak from my own experience, and the entirety of that experience is amongst the honest players. I have never played a match in the official turd pool, although I have encountered many players who were on their way there...

When the league system dropped I was placed in silver. Since then, I have climbed up to master. I did this by upgrading my bots/weapons and improving my skills. Therefore, it is entirely possible to advance in this game by playing the way it was meant to be played.

I also believe that a lot of people are idealizing the old matchmaker and are not really remembering how it actually worked. It was entirely possible to be matched up with players that had significantly better or worse equipment. Tanking was as much of a thing then as it is now, since after enough loses it would throw you in with easier competition. It really wasn't all roses and rainbows like some people seem to remember it.

In my opinion, the creation of the "turd pool" fixed the majority of problems. It cleared the crap out of the way for the honest players to have a better chance of good matches.

The only downside I see is that the turds are allowed to progress through the leagues even while playing in the turd pool. But, if that's what it takes to keep them out of the honest player pool, then so be it.

The only real hangup I have with the current system is it only really allows for one hanger. I might want to play an all light hanger once in awhile but can't w/o hurting my team. While I agree with FF in spirit I run a largely 8/8 hanger in Masters 3 on iOS where I generally come in 4th or 5th because of hanger strength. Upgrades at this level start to take quite a bit of time translating to weeks or months to really fix that portion of the issue. Ironically if I tend to come in at the bottom but the team wins the problem becomes worse. If nothing else you should potentially lose points if you come in last on the winning team. This would allow a downward pressure release valve w/o the need to repeatedly leave matches or otherwise require my team to lose in order for my hanger to face a more appropriate level of competition.

I like the league system. I wasn't around before it was implemented, but the previous system sounds like it was horrible.

Neither was but I can read, too. It was worse. This newer MM is an attempt by Pixonic to save the "little guy." Which is why the Hangar system is a non-issue for the Developers.

But let's be honest. Pixonic should not be wasting resources on Players who willfully and deliberately harm the Player experience. In my opinion, those responsible for the willful disruption of the game should be ejected and any Accounts associated with their I.P. banned. No game needs that type of Player.

Well, we have a choice. We can fight, "Tanking" or eliminate it.

To Fight "Tanking" we need to understand the way in which the enemy operates. They begin by Qualifying in L1 Mecha with L1 weapons and deliberately Lose. This places them in the lowest possible League. They then swap Mecha and weapons in their hangar(s) giving them a tactical advantage. From there they go up, then go down while remaining in said League.

SOLUTION: Lockdown the Hangars. The Mecha/Weapons you choose for League battles will be the Mecha/Weapons that you use for the duration of the Season. If a Player chooses to Qualify with L1 Mecha/Weapons, then they will face annihilation for the length of the Season. Upgrading is still viable. If said Player wishes to Upgrade five L1 Mecha/Weapons to remain competitive, so be it. It harms nothing.

To determine at which League a Player is to be Challenged for "placement," an accounting of potential damage across all of a Players Weapons divided by total Mecha armour value gives a percentage that can be weighed against Leagues given average - a tolerance of +/- 10% is optimal.

Therefore, if a Player is in possession of Mecha that should rightfully belong in a given League, then they better bring the guns or they will be uncompetitive for the Season. There is much more detail but too much to go into in one go.

ELIMINATION: Ban the I.P.'s and Accounts associated with it/them. This gives Pixonic a good reputation as hardliners on fair-play. That's video game Gold and in business, your image and reputation are Everything. It's Win/Win for Pixonic and Community ..

What I suggested is final solution. When Custom Lobbies are available, Players are free to do as they wish. Leagues ate called Leagues for a reason. You cannot simply drive a different racecar in the middle of a Season ..

Firebeard, your stupid solution would ruin the game. Wow... I can't believe you were bold enough to post that here as if it's actually a good idea to lock hangars for 30(?) days.

Isn't it obvious? Do you know how much buying and upgrading players do in a month? Do you know how frequently playing styles are changed? A better solution would be to lock players in the highest league they've reached so they can only progress or be stagnant. If a league-locking system is implemented, a player who reached Gold or Diamond or Expert or Master will be exiled from whatever lower league they're hiding in and will be thrown back to the wolves in Gold or Diamond or Expert or Master. If they lose, they'll just hit the bottom of the league, not return to a lower league.

Players will and can continue to Upgrade. I am preparing a seven page outline to submit to Pixonic. I have thought this through. No question cannot be answered. Understand, this would only need to be done if the "Tankers" are to remain. Banishment is a far better solution but if you want Fight them then, this what I propose should be done.

As to you're suggestion, you are under the impression that "Tankers" will Qualify at their maximum. This is not the case. Your suggestion will only trap the "Tankers" in lower Leagues, where they wish to be. You've solved nothing.

That's why I included a current accounting of Mecha/Weapons. You're suggestion is not without merit, it needs deep thought and thorough working of the details on its implementation and possible consequences.

Write it down and perhaps we could consolidate both into hybrid solution. But we need be sure to tweak the system not remodel it ..
