So... one of the things I've been hearing more of lately is that the tone of the Forum has grown increasingly negative. The word "toxic" has even been used a few times. Now, that's just a small sample size, so I wanted to poll the broader community and get everyone's thoughts. To me, I concur with this observation (I wrote about it here recently a little). I'm not sure what's behind it, but there may be more than one factor. > The "three strikes" rule we implemented gives protection to people who would have been punted by fiat in the previous system > People are frustrated with the game (although, that's something of a constant, we used to have a torrent of threads about clubbing just like we do now about tanking) > Candy Crush players are pulling off a mass infiltration troll to destabilize the War Robots community So here's an important update before I turn over to the discussion. The admin team is concerned about this just as you are. As a result, we have re-instituted a "ban on first offense" for incoming posters who just "sh1tpost." (Yes, I'm avoiding the censor because I can't find a word that better conveys what I mean.)
We're not talking about your good-faith actors here. Nor is negativity the flagging factor- you can have negative opinions on things and still express them maturely. The more operative word here is "disruptive" posters looking to wind people up and get attention, insult and argument right from the start.
We've already punted a few morons, and will continue to be vigilant. We're not just neutral, impassive arbiters of the law here, like you we care about this community and want it to be the best it can be. So enough from me, what are your thoughts?

As a "point dropper" I think the mods have been doing a great job. The posts are much more civil than before. Negativity comes in waves as people tend to complain every time Pixonic changes the matchmaking system. Overall I'd say things are better. Thanks for punting those 「dookie」posters.

It took time for us to figure things out with the crazy influx of members after Pix linked the forum in-game. But people are beginning to test the boundaries of the rules. So we do need some Judge Dredd. LOL i couldnt resist. I'm so tempted to rename myself Chief Judge.

Were down in the weeds on a few very polarizing issues, tanking, map skipping, Pixonics responses, and the heath of the game. Between the differences in platforms, time zones, personal play styles, and frequency of play we barely speak the same language, and have very different contextual experiences. Hell some of the posters here don't use english as their native language and it makes things even a bit more complicated (missing out on semantics and nuance of a native speaker). I have seen a few instances of people I generally think are OK flying off the handle, making a situation WORSE instead of better, or turning something harmless into something hostile.... The reality is that you guys as mods could clamp down harder, but honestly I don't think it is going to do much to abate the current set of issues here. These are reflections of pix's problems, and the way things are going here should be a good indication of how serious the issues are getting.

There's definitely a political element going on, but I don't think it's any better or worse than it used to be.
I can be very opinionated and blunt, but I try really hard to see all sides and act diplomatically. When the thread goes into the toilet, I clam up.
No use perpetuating a pissing contest when everybody starts running dangerously low on piss.

Well, since I never really got involved with the law here, I don't really know how to get a strike. I am sure, I can be somewhat aggressive, but I never felt the need to insult anybody. Insults are just a sign, that you are just not be able to propperly discuss and make your points clear. It is like bulliyng smaller kids in school. If you don't like, what they say and can not retaliate verbaly, just attack them in every way you can. That way, they feel strong. I think, this analogy is adequate.
So, how do I get strikes? Do I really have to insult others directly? Or are there other ways?

I dont remember seeing any any statements that would get anyone banned. The only thing I recall are some locked threads encouraging exploitatation of game flaws etc...

Ive only been here about 2 months? I dont think I have enough time here to really know if its +/- better or worse.
What I can tell from my time here. Is the forum staff has to be pretty diligent & tact. A few reasons that could lead to spontaneous combustion.
This game seems to have different playing styles as far as playing it the intended way vs skipping maps and tanking matches. Basically finding ways to make easy earnings. People who play it fair vs unfair can clash.
Some of us have trouble with speaking our minds without thinking of what effect it has on others. Weather it be bad language, belittling. Anything thats not good for young children etc.
Some people just like to fight, hence maybe why this game is attractive.
So hats off to the people (users & staff) here trying to keep this a good round about place to visit.

not too different than the clubbing days, just different topics. good points of view all around. there's some subtle digs here and there between members, but nothing too personal.

I can't compare "now" and "then", because I've not been here for soooo long, but I like the fact that I stated my disapproval for the Judge Dredd back in the thread, and didn't get a ban for this =) I think it makes this forum as democratic and tolerant as it can be, way to go, guys!

WHat kind of forum would ban smeone for not liking or disagreeing with a mod- obv, not insults, of course. People who disagree with me a lot make this place way more interesting.

IMHO, ability to communicate with people who have different (sometimes even opposite) opinion defines you as a human being.

I appreciate jokes and a little bit of banter here and there as long as it's all in good fun. It's all got a time and place!
What I don't appreciate is when I start a serious thread and get BS responses in the form of memes, for example, which just take up SO much annoyingly extra space to try browse through. I don't have time for serious discussion when you've got to filter through the BS in order to find the goods.
I'm thinking from an outsiders perspective. Someone who has no idea about the community but finds themselves here after a good search about some certain subject directs them to one of the forum threads. Once in that thread it should all be there in a relatively easy to browse form and not filled with what is essentially spam.

I used to read these forums a lot over the past couple years, it wasn't until the new MM that I started to post. Many of my posts were out of frustration, calling the current state of the board "toxic" is putting it mildly. I took a break from the forum and the game because both were becoming more frustrating for me then fun, I have a big mouth and pretty much no filter so I really had to hold back from the forum. Some of my favorite posts "Strange bots from the wild" or "Drunk Griffin" seem lost under so much game rage. For now I just lurk around the forums and play my daily tasks until this Titan version fires up for droid. I hope the Titans game will be a fresh start for the bot gamers and the forum users, I need something new because I really do feel like I have kicked this dead horse to pulp.
