So I decided to update my Loki build: New, cranky old guy pilot and then Mk 3 the bot at a discount. 3 x Nitros.
Took it out this morning for DOM and there were at least FOUR Lokis on the battlefield. 2 x Red, 2 x Blue. Unexpected. The blues won but it was an unexpected amount of Lokis out there.
What are you guys seeing? More Lokis than usual?

I’ve definitely been seeing more, but it may be faction-task related. Very useful for the beacon faction tasks for Lokis family.

Yeah, that might be it Shawn. I'm seeing them, but not 5 in a game

The E task has get bacon with evolife. So I built a Loki for the task should be fun.

I noticed one day, one player on my team had also a Tyr and wondered how a coincidence it was. Maybe it wasn't!

There has been a constant one to two Lokis per match for me for a while now. I think it is a combination of beacon tasks and the bot being very accessible.

I've seen a few more than usual. Not many Orochis anymore, not as many QS users, more Lokis.

The Loki are spawning earlier as well because of late match Quantum Radar/QS due to Murometz and typical Loki drop time.

Don't know about anyone else but i've swapped out Qdar for shield breaker on most of my builds due to the recent demeter giveaway. Loki's might be surviving better

I’m short on time to post something longer today, but, I’m really enjoying Loki as a first drop. It lasts longer than you’d think and if I commit to holding down a beacon it is “tankier” than you might easily assume.

I pulled mine out of storage for the beacon task. I put it in rotation every now and then, but mine is only 1.10 and gets bottom of the barrel weapons. I might get around to upgrading it more eventually.

A steady stream right along, 1-3 per match, differs from red/blue game to game.

I got mine from OP C a few months back. Cheap as chips with extra goodies to make me think it was a good deal.
Also redid the hangar to include Quantum Radar in a late drop to be annoying back.

So, Loki is still my first drop. Zero regrets.
Normal Loki, 3.1, +5% skin Cranky Old Guy pilot maxed 3 x Nitro Advanced Heal SNOWBALL DRONE! (My only one.) 3 x 3.1 Quarkers
FUN! For example: Carrier. Against competent randos including a duo from a known clan. I grab beacons 1 and 2 and then CB. I decide to head straight for their home (on the flight deck, not under.) I do some damage to a back-turned guy on the way. I get on their home, which is red but I figure they have to deal with me so I just juke-and-jive on their home for... FIVE MINUTES. At one point I had FOUR guys trying to take me out. Early on it was the clan duo in a pair of Khepris. They were making very little headway with me. And then a third guy joined who wasn't much help. When the FOURTH guy joined one of Khepris left because it finally dawned on him that it only takes ONE red to keep the beacon red. We're about 4 minutes into the match but my gamble starts paying off. we finally went for 2-3 to 3-2 on the beacons. And I was still on their home. By the time they got me there was around 4:50 left on the counter and the blues were able to shore up their defenses of the 3 beacons we had. Defend, defend, Laser Luchador, defend, defend... FTW!
The more I practice with Loki the more I like it.
I kinda like Quarkers more than Scatters on this bot. The 500m range and good accuracy for a few seconds is handy. I can brawl successfully now and then.
Snowball is a blast. I'm supporting blues while just stylin' and lookin' pretty.
Loki CAN hold a beacon. At times FAR better than a normal bot. Quantum Radar module is out there but so far not as many as you think. Am I declaring a Loki rebirth. Nah. BUt, is it worthwhile? heck yeah even if it's only to do something a little different.

Oliver Kloesov, great to see you coming around on Loki! I remember a little while ago I brought it up as a great beacon runner alongside Phantom, but you kinda brushed it off, so I’m glad to see you coming around! I personally save mine for the late game, but the bot really is effective at all stages of a battle, something that is kinda rare for a specialized bot. I would recommend giving Halo or Shredder a try for weapons, as even though they lack a bit on damage, their utility is great. If an enemy is trying to step in the beacon circle, you can quickly un-stealth, burst and lock it down, and then re-stealth to make sure the beacon turns blue. With these weapons, you give up brawling power and double down on beacons, but it’s how I roll and I like it, so I urge you to try out this style of Loki build!

Wolfblood7 I believe so, I'll send you a postcard. 079 Yeah, that's the problem with being dismissive, it can take a while for it to filter through the gray matter. I think I have 3 Halos and 2 Shredders leveled. I'll give 'em a try. My halos are dussssssssssty. *Achoo!* I played tag with a leveled Hawk this morning he was trying to hold The Farm on Springfield and I was trying to take it from him. Snowball zap, weapons out, pewpewpew, weapons in. 3 cycles later the bacon is mine.

MM will often times match you against players having the same bots. I see this all the time. The other day I decided to get out my Nemesis, thinking nobody is running Nemesis. But guess what? I ran into 2 other red Nemesis, and 1 blue Nemesis. Seems odd to me. I don't think matching same bots should be part of the MM algorithm.

titando You are at least the 2nd person to mention this phenomenon. Odd, right? Nemesis is NOT a common bot and to run into another 3 during the same battle is freaky/suspicious.

Yes, my first choice as well. It annoys the heck of most Death Squads. I can just feel them run in panic to recapture their home beacon, lol. I imagine them screaming into the comms: "he's taking our home beacon, run back run back", lol I managed to capture 12 beacons one game. One important note regarding people wondering why there are orbital strikes 45s into the game. Capturing 2 (or 3, not sure) beacons charges your mothership 100% with no damage dealt whatsoever. I’ve also taken out Behemoths and Erebus snipers with 3 maxed Gusts. Anticontrol is a must imo. You don’t want to be locked down by chance. I have one BU, one anticontrol and one Nitro. Lots of fun. It’s strange to be able to run in enemy’s spawn area or be so close to deadly robots and not fear of being obliterated.

I'm running one now and the bot is still speedy. This morning I was up against a kill squad trio, let's just say their name rhymes with "Land of Others"... Springfield. I grabbed center with Loki, teamies grabbed the dam and then headed my way. The reds over-committed and sent their Farm duo to center. "Okay, I'll just Road Hog my way to the Farm." I took the farm unopposed. And they took CB, but it's early days. Their Skyros procedded to come to the Farm. And he tried for around 3 minutes to kill me with very little luck. By then it was 3.5-to-1.5 and he realized he was needed elsewhere and left the Farm empty handed. I put some Quarkers up his backside as he was rolling away. Heheheh. He rolled through some cow poo on the way out. Sorry, not sorry. We won, I did NOT do it alone but there's something to be said for holding down a beacon single-handedly for around 7 minutes. DEFENSE. It's not all that uber-exciting play, my damage average will be plummeting but I'm in it for the Ws. Until QS becomes a thing again, me likey Loki. At LEAST it is variety on the playfield.

OK... so... Another update.
Heavy Armor Kit, AC, Nitro, Advanced Heal, Snowball, Grumpy-the-Pilot
This build might be the sweet spot. 3 Nitros aren't the "All That" i assumed they would be. Maybe I should try them again.
To those running sonics I say, "Bring. Them. On." PEWPEWPEwPEwPewpew... pew.... pew.... pew.... pew. "Oh look... I'm down to 80 percent health."
Something nobody talks about is that early-to-mid game Loki is a killer beacon HOLDER. This morning I held CB on Canyon white while a duo squad kept getting snowballed by me and they eventually went down cause the blues kept the damage pressure on. Thank you randos!
This build is NOT uber meta and therefor everybody needs to run 5, BUT, it is often HELLA disruptive. If I'm on your red beacon you HAVE to stay. If I'm on a blue beacon just one red guy won't take me out. At all. Unless you have sonics and a lot of time on your hands.
NOTHING is better than having 3+ Reds all on the same beacon trying to take me out. "Oh look! Your red beacons over there are turning blue. Bummer, eh?"
I spend a LOT of time not shooting. And by doing so I can keep a beacon blue for a surprisingly long time. It's about beacon control, not damage.

I was going to post this in the Forum members I ran into section but eh, Loki is gonna Loki? Oliver Kloesov was funny as all get-out holding center beacon in this one. That Loki is one bad *Shut your mouth* of stealthy slickness. When they FINALLY got the Loki, he breaks out the Khepri pew pew sammichez MUHAHAHAHA! What really matters anyways is hanging on to the coat tails of Oliver I got a win! Thanks Oliver.

It's a War Robots timey-wimey thing. I even remember your Blitz blasting me in the butt early on, "I'm glad he's a friendly..." The Loki isn't always effective but when it is, it makes the Reds tear their hair out. Oh, almost forgot, in that same match I got a DOUBLE KILL with the snowball alone. Talk about luck o' the Irish, yes?

I build more like yours - tanky and long lasting to annoy. I did run my sons set up a few times and TBH it was more fun. Not as effective but hilariously enjoyable to play. On a map like dead city where you can clear walls, it was super effective - you can run beacons and escape damage. On open maps, not as much and the tanky builds performed better. If nothing else, give it a run for a few games. Even in losses you’ll be grinning.

shawngonakillyou Tempting, yes, thanks for the build tip. Loki is STILL my number one drop against randoms. I'm still a little conflicted though: 1. Sometimes my Loki beacon is the ONLY blue beacon 2. Loki can hold a beacon for an eternity against 2, 3, 4 blues. It's pretty redonk-a-donkulous. I build my Loki nest with the pulled-out hair of frustrated red pilots. It's a big nest. 3. Buuuut, running Loki like this puts me and the blues down on damage output. Enough so that our clan squad leader asks that I don't drop it first. (And she used to be a Loki savant.) I'm still a fan of snowball Loki, it can really be annoying as heck. Your thoughts?
