NOTES FROM THE FIELDRevenant is a fine insertion point for the tactical deployment of Demeter. Fafnir loitering on station is generally acceptable. Hawk in mid-flight during a Blue rush is probably a safe bet. Do not insert on Scorpion. Scorpion lies to you. When using 600m Tyr at optimal range, choose carefully whom you screen for. This is especially true on long maps. Protecting a Flux Fury piloted by someone with experience and tact may be more worth defending than meta gear played poorly. Mender Four continues to perform impressive Red-assisted long jumps and various offensive acrobatic maneuvers in the air. Lockdown Mender with Phase Shift and Freeze chips is a surprisingly vicious speed bump to both Luchador and Minos. Run backwards while locking down Minos, or lockdown Luchador in the air to maximize psychological effect. Avenger Weyland is surprisingly effective as a last ditch defender for a beacon. I've come to enjoy either Quantum Radar or Shieldbreaker. Believe it or not, the Nuclear Amplifier heats up quickly with Avenger Weyland. One hundred levels-worth of Krait on a Noodles with maxed Quantum Sensor will buy you the hatred and fear of those who rely far too much on stealth. You know who I'm talking about. When in doubt, stick the landing. Support rulez. Meta droolz.

NOTES FROM THE FIELD II
My only complaint about Orochi is that it has a very short, very narrow hit box when skating around. Make it four pixels taller, and that's all she wrote. This would apply to at least one hardpoint all support machines as I've observed.
I'm looking forward to Mender Lady, but not only for the improved Repair. Gold skills will certainly make Mender shine through the hazy, boring meta even more.
Destroyer, in my opinion, is much underrated when placed on a Nightengale, specifically with Nightengale Lady as the pilot. Its surprising how often Nightengale Lady can pick off weakened and crippled machines with Air Support. I've come to know it as 'bayoneting the wounded.'
Personally, I prefer the ability to swap out well developed weapon sets on machines that I like as opposed to swapping out robots every time someone at Pixonic decided to put down their base pipe.
With all the buzz about Mender Lady, and the fact that I must obtain her, I will likely jot down my incoherent thoughts about Mender as a close support fire platform in the near future and will post it here and only here. I am not an authority, no, far from it. Regarding gameplay, I'll always be a complete and total hack.
Regardless, that's Doctor Hack to you.

BAIT AND SWITCH - A ROBOTS STORY
Red was being dumb and clumsy, as Red often did. He had just recaptured his home beacon after a deft and cunning maneuver from the gallant Blues. Blues were often gallant, as is common knowledge. But Red wasn't thinking about gallantry, he was thinking about the chirpy burn of Magnums and the steady thump of a Teran splattering across his back. Melted laminate armor ran in rivulets down Red's six o'clock before he was cognizant enough to turn around. Red was often dumb and clumsy.
Red eventually spotted the source of his annoyance in the form of a little white and red robot usually known as Mender to his friends. Mender had lots of friends. Mender was skipping back and forth, alternating fire from Teran and Magnum, as he made adorable little squeaks and beeps. Mender often squeaked and beeped as he ran headlong around the streets of Dead City, emitting waves of green nanobots to help his Blue friends, as well as splashing plasma on Red sensitive areas. Mender was very helpful.
This particular Red, though, was called Revenant and was kind of a big deal. He had fancy skirt armor, goo-puking hoses of death, a scary paint job, and the ability to transmogrify his whole robot from way over there to right in your face in the blink of a photo eye. Revenant did not fear any Blue robot, especially something that looked like a poor imitation of a fishing bobber. Revenant decided that he would be the one to end Mender's endearing beeps and squeaks and green waves and weaksauce plasma. Red was often dumb and clumsy.
White and red Mender kept spitting fireballs at black and green Revenant, skipping backwards and side to side. After one too many fireballs, Revenant had had enough horseplay. Wiggling his nose in a very invisible manner, Revenant activated his transmogrification. At the same time, he also wondered, very briefly, why Mender hadn't run for cover, terrified of him like most other robots?
Reappearing in a scary and abrupt manner, directly in front of Mender, Revenant released his corrosive payload at point blank range. Revenant smiled a cold smile as he saw Mender's stunning white and red paint begin to dissolve under his toxic assault. 'Soon,' he thought, 'Mender will know about melted armor, too.'
Upon being splashed with green sludge, Mender stopped moving. Beeping and squeaking, Mender hugged himself tightly and emitted his waves. Mender seemed to chortle as his paint began to reappear rapidly, much to the chagrin of Revenant. Mender's weapons, though, were quiet. Unsettlingly quiet.
Revenant didn't have time to process where the blindingly fast railgun penetrators had come from before they smashed into his fancy skirt armor. The otherwise formidable shield was cracked and broken, rendered useless. Barely a moment had past before booming blasts of visible sound waves hammered Revenant into a structure, pinning him against the wall. Revenant could scarcely feel the low hum of a striking Scorpion, as the overclocked speaker-blasters had shattered the photo eyes, and weapons, and super structure, and articulation joints on that side of him. Revenant slumped against the wall, barely hanging to life, still looking at Mender.
Mender and Scorpion exchanged beeps and squeaks before Scorpion spun in a circle and blinked away. Mender knew she would be running back to Jaeger before they moved across the other side of Dead City to help Mender again later. Mender hoped that Shell and Fenrir might be there, too. They had helped Mender like this earlier in the day against a dumb and clumsy Red called Orochi. Mender had lots of friends.
Mender turned to face Revenant again, looking over his shattered, failing hulk. Mender did see, though, that Revenant was still alive. Scorpion had run out of time before she had to leave. 'I will help Scorpion finish her job,' thought Mender as he aimed his plasma weapons directly at Revenant's exposed reactor core. Mender was very helpful.

Nightingale as end-game beacon runner. Let me explain.
You take your garden variety Nightingale. You add the cute redhead Legendary Pilot who shortens the ability cooldown, and you start pumping up the speed skills. T4 the Road Hog and Adamant Road Hog skills for sure, and add survivability skills too. You set up Last Stand and two Cloaking Units for modules, and you will want a drone that can do more than one thing...for me, I run a Good Guy with target-seeking minigun and suppressor, and probably some other defense chip. And in my case, I arm with Cryo/Rime.
What this does is creates sort of a weird mutant of a Pursuer, where you're speedy, you've got stealth more or less on demand (10s reset for the ability isn't bad, and if you run an ability cooldown, it's even shorter), you can fly ("They can fly now?" "They can fly now!"), and you have the flexibility to hang close to your Titans and crank up the healing factor, or to break loose and get on beacons of opportunity. The ideal trick is to avoid getting your cloaking units triggered until you touch down on a beacon, and then hope that no one's running Quantum Radar late in the game. I've had so much joy from seeing a French Ming get one shot down at me and then its guns just pop up to standby because it can't see me anymore. Usually the beacon flips just in time for me to take off again and go find someone to heal.

Its surprising how often Nightengale Lady can pick off weakened and crippled machines with Air Support. I've come to know it as 'bayoneting the wounded.' Shootin' drones help with that. Minigun on a Good Guy can peck an Aegis shield down to nothing so the Air Support gets through.

Usually the beacon flips just in time for me to take off again and go find someone to heal. While I follow your logic, and don't disagree with it, my late game employment of Nightengale is wildly different. If I make it to Lockdown Nightengale, things have probably gone sideways and need to be slowed down in a major way. Six hundred meter lockdown allows Nightengale to control entire lanes of movement and fire, enabling Blue greater freedom of action while at the same time ensuring Red stays stymed. The flying and stealth enables Nightengale to reach its perch relatively untouched in order to control/deny areas quickly and reliably. I have a Cryo Nightengale with Ginger Lady and, while running that hangar, Nightengale comes out very early in order to suppress Red attackers while healing Blue attackers/defenders. After time runs out, drop near something soft and dump your magazines into it. Ideally, you've been flying directly above a Fenrir or Shell or both or more. Big, heavy knife-fighters are usually quick to defend a healer, so watch the blood bath while you duck out of sight to rearm.

Don't waste your ability of a mostly dead support machine when there's a Fenrir actively in a fight who could use it. You need more hit points, defense points, and shielding. This never goes away. Don't run off and try to do stuff alone. Mender is the third man in, not the leading actor.

NOTES FROM THE FIELD III - HELP ME, HELP YOU
Also titled
...ARE YOU 「fluffernutter」ING STUPID?
I saw on a bumper sticker or where ever that fortune favors the bold. I'm fortune. I will first back whichever gallant Blues happen to be acting on Red. Then, I'll prioritize supporting Blue defensive movements. After that, I'll peek at the 5-600m shooters, followed by the back lines. Just saying, though, if I'm healing rear support machines, we're probably dominating the field and I'm soaking up healing points.
Further on the same point, I'm going to throw my guns behind whomever seems most worth supporting. Running Mender behind Fenrir and Shell is amazing. Dropping Demeter on a Revenant is awesome. Letting Scorpions or snipers or whatever nest in my Tyr's radius just feels great. Over-extending my resources because you don't know what you're doing hurts everybody. Don't be surprised if I deny you healing, just saying.
Quick addendum to that point, I'm gonna follow obvious squads first. Shout out HOOD, XILE, and IAM. You guys, nine times out of ten, are fantastic at recognizing my intent and actions.
Once you figure out that I'm trying to heal and/or shield you, and you will figure it out, STAND STILL AND LET ME LOVE YOU! Don't worry, dude, I'll come to you. I've been doing this since before it was cool. I'm really not that bad at the whole healing thing. So, hunker down, avoid splash, mind your angles, and we can get through this harrowing situation.
I'm constantly running triage on Blue, threat assessment on Red, and there's a 50/50 chance that I have no idea that you're bleeding hydraulic fluid at an alarming rate. Maybe just pop a round at me, or a couple rounds. Whatever you gotta do. I'll definitely turn around at some point and do my level best to come to your aid. Also, and this is likely specifically for my brand of robo-doctoring, but I don't listen to the audio in this game. I've been told there's music, I'm sure it's great, but I've never heard it.
But hey, what do I know? I'm just the guy who may or may not control the fate of your match at some point. No big deal, dude. You do you.
You. Do. You.

As far as Mender Lady goes, I'll have multiples. She probably doesn't effect a normal hangar as much as it will mine, but Mender is definitely seeing play in high Masters into Champion and I love it.

079 and @fester How well do Mender perform without Marie LaClair? I am considering building one. Is it in the event chests? Mender is great without Mender Lady, as long as it's used correctly. It's also super fun. True Ace and Deft Survivor are both recommended, as well as keeping weaponry relatively short range. If you can, use over-levelled weaponry. I've played this game a while now and Mender is consistently one of, if not the most, fun robot to play.

REGARDING MENDER LADY, MY ONE TRUE LOVE ❤
My beloved Mender Lady, Although we have only just met, I, Dr. H. Jekyll, of Clan Ride or Die (AAA-1 We Outchea) do declare my all-conquering and eternal adoration. Since the very first time I observed you healing a clanmate's Eberus far beyond what should have been robo-medically possible, I knew my feelings were real and are forever. You look delightful in gold, far better than the purple on the other scrubs in my Menders. One day, and I do pray sooner rather than later, I shall bedeck you in the finest gilded skills in every place which you desire. There will be no pilot prioritized over you, my battlefield angel. Many times now I've watched, breathless, as you've charged headlong into a murderous brawl, sometimes outnumbered by dumb and clumsy Reds, to miraculously rescue a fellow Blue. Almost as many times, Mender Lady, I've seen you lead a counterattack with those comrades seemingly resurrected by your awe-striking abilities. This is why you now command First Mender, greatest amongst the Menders. First Mender will remain yours at your pleasure, my dearest. Forever infatuated, Dr. H. Jekyll

I have those same top three skills...my Road Hog isn't yet at full tilt but I'm working on it. As far as I'm personality concerned, True Ace and Deft Survivor are the two mandatory Mender skills. As long as you've got those, especially with Mender Lady, you'll do just fine. Everything else is brass buttons.

LOCKDOWN TYR - A STUNNING PUGILIST
Lockdown Mender, for the time being, is being rearmed as Cryo Mender and replaced with Lockdown Tyr. Modules include Heavy Armor, Fortifier, and Last Stand. Active is Phase Shift. The previously developed Tyr Lady had an emphasis on armor and shield skills, so Lockdown Tyr can be tagged several times before needing to back off. Depending on whether durability can trump mobility, Fortifier or Heavy Armor may be replaced with Anticontrol. Lockdown Mender acted in the utility role, speedbumping Red movements and backing Blue movements. Lockdown Tyr will act the same, with added focus on close fire support as opposed to active knife fighting. So far, the additional lockdown power has proved incredibly useful against Titans especially. Their large targets make locking them at a distance much easier, particularly Sharanga, Luchador, and Minos. Initial engagements have been promising and I am optimistic that I can manipulate this platform effectively at the level I play.

And by special attention, I mean war crimes. I also don't think I've ever seen you as Blue, and that's a pity. If you ever see me, dude, invite me. Or if I'm running around with my guys, I'll see if they'll invite you. Or we one vs. one and shoot at each other and I try to land a bird on your head. Whatever you wanna do, dude.

FIREBALL DEMETER - FREE SAFETY
or
GO-KART FROM HELL
Oh, for the days of the Russian Death Button. Deep magazine, wide splash damage, 500 meters of stand off, and were they ever cheap. I remember picking up the RDB Griffin well after it's time in the meta and used it until the last rebalance. It's the robot that taught me fire control with a high degree of precision, when and when not to use an ability, and how to pick battles at any and all ranges. It really is the robot that taught me the most about this game so far. Until the time I chucked some Scorchers on a Demeter. Because this thing rules. The Fireball Demeter has proved to be a real asset on several levels. The base damage itself seems a bit lackluster, at least at first blush. Play with the fireball guns and be very mindful of the splash effect. They're a very effective weapon for forcing Red to learn his angles or get loaded up with Blast. Blast is very effective, sometimes at least, for preventing Red from clustering up. The 500 meter stand off enables Demeter to sit back at the edge of the fight, or fights, and whip fireballs into the fray to aid Blue and frustrate Red. Also, since we've learned that Doctor's pay the 「fluffernutter」 attention to things, Demeter can jump to a Blue to provide close fire support, healing of black and gray damage, more hit points for Red to deal with, and a huge morale boost. I suppose that last one is subjective, but morale is something you don't realize you have until you don't have it anymore. Demeter doesn't touch the ground. This doesn't seem like it means anything at all besides looking cool. While looking cool counts for a lot in War Robots, there also seems to be an added effect on the mobility of Demeter. Not touching the ground may account for Demeter's ability to turn sharply, quickly. Circling Red or Blue with Demeter is smoother and more consistent than anything else I've used so far. It also seems to get to max speed a bit quicker than robots with actual locomotion, which is nice in the time of Orochi and Fafnir. Of course, this all may be completely in my head. Did Blue all get trashed and Red is getting uncomfortably close? Red doesn't seem to understand that attacking a marked medical unit is a violation of many laws of warfare and that's because Red is dumb and clumsy. This is somewhat less of a concern for Demeter. My favorite way of getting out of a tough situation is dump my magazines in Red's face, pop Phase Shift, spin around, and find a friend. Discretion is the better part of valor and Demeter is much more valuable living to fight another day. This machine will be in my main hangar for a long, long time. Tl;dr - Fireball Demeter rulez and you should try it. Get paint. Edit - Wolfblood7 Take a peek, dude. Food for thought, at least.

nice to see a fellow niche pilot with an impressive hangar. I like the weyland, it fits with my spider collection nicely. I run 3 maxed Heavy Armor Kit on it as well, giving it as much life as I can for healing. But I love adopting titans or getting aggressive and finding a nice nook to heal but deal damage. Been running punchers lately, they are good for at least 2 kills per battle. Must be a blow to the ego getting taken out by the “doc” bot. Buwahaha here’s Agatha, yes they all have names. and her siblings.

Damn, dude, I love it. That's so many hit points and so much resistance. Looks super fun, too. My very favorite part is that it looks awesome. I'm especially digging the vibe of the 2.3 with flamers. I'll eventually put Punchers on Weyland, at least I keep telling myself that. They'll definitely be next up for development after the Prismas, but those aren't likely to see accelerated development until Yamantau.

Thank you sir, it’s loads of fun, especially watching reds cluster around thinking Really, ANOTHER ONE!?!? I think it’s hilarious. I do go kamikaze a lot and push the pace so I get the reds attention, giving my team time for beacons or position. I did notice color scheme wise this setup looks cleaner on the 2.3. What ya think?

Both work, for sure. With the similar color palate you really can't go wrong. I think I like the standard flamers more because of the line thickness/placement, but both look pretty great.
