I do know they are aware of match making and are working on it. Plenty of people have screen shots of being at like 800 power vs 3000 power AIs. I would also get on discord if you are able.

Is there an official Discord? All I could find was an "official" forum, which appears to be mainly filled with spam posts.

So I did something silly. Yes, I plunked a few more $$$ to acquire a Guardian. I had a set of long arms, so I started with that. Then I remembered I had unlocked the mission rack, but I was about 250k credits shy of enough to buy it, and not quite enough a-coins to swap it. So I plunked down a few more $$$, then drained almost every last a-coin and credit to grab that mission rack. And promptly played a couple of games with it, and did pretty well. But that’s not the silly part, that’s the fiscally irresponsible part. But so what, the wife just bought a new iPhone, and what I’ve spent in this game is just a tiny fraction of that.
No, the silly part is where I pulled the Guardian and Ares out and replaced them with MD and .... wait for it ... the Lancer. I figured, let me just run around for a few games like I don’t give a crap, let somebody else get max kills and captures, and I’ll just have a little mindless fun. And I quickly lost two games. But ... I also was top of my team again. These light, faster bots aren’t only more fun, they’re also still viable well past when many ‘better’ bots are available, especially given the absolute randomness of who you get teamed up with and against. Lesson for Danny: you don’t need to be in any big hurry to acquire the next bigger and better stuff. I’ve got a good mix of weapons to swap in and out, and there’s a lot of fun to be had with the cheap stuff. Definitely an interesting dynamic in this game.

The guardian is a good killer. Hang back and someone will come looking for you. Emp and missiles to the face, dead bot.

It's sporadic, though, so one of the long time players, Redfiend, is putting together a thread with links as the guide gets created... located here.

Just the opposite of long-range mortar rockets, which can frequently insta-kill you from 200+ m away. Both desperately need adjusting. |

Just lost a Tourney to one single red: a guy in a Killshot armed with a Rocket Mortar 12 - anything peaked out from under the little bridge was hailed on with ferocity. Got me thinking - great alpha burst combined with maneuverability to get into position/evade to cover... Thoughts anyone?

Well I’m embarrassed. My Killshot got killed by a ... shotgun 4. I think it was on a Shadow, I forgot to see what bot it was, but I do know I didn’t see any reds around me when I got offed. I just saw Shotgun 4 on the kill banner and immediately went looking for something to slit my wrists with.
That Shadow is bad news. Fast as hell and stays in stealth mode for like forever. At least you can still shoot them, but they’re so damn fast, you’ve got to be a very, very good shot, or it has to already be near death. Or that guy was just an excellent pilot and I still suck.

You can only track a red if you or at least one teammate have a line of sight on it. Shadows are just worse because when they’re stealthed, nobody’s radar can ‘see’ them. |

mechtout, I've run into bagofsoup quite a few times. He is also on King Servesh's discord. That's what reminded me of these forums and brought me back here over this game. I came over to MA with GFYS-Samurai over from Mech-Battle because I have him on FB Deadeye made the connection, but it seems the rest of you guys forgot me ?? For the lads that have been on these forums for quite some time, I'm the same mad-lad that dissected Walking War Robots's matchmaker before they introduced the league system, to the point where Pix acknowledged my post about the MM when swapping over to their BS "elo-inspired" league ranking system for the matchmaker. Had personal stuff to deal with, joined Mech-Battle of a time, but came back here when something finally scratched the mobile Mech-game itch.

Just a wild-azz hunch, but I got a feeling this section is about to get busier. With this last update, War Robots is now a near-complete abortion. Where it used to be just annoying, now I totally hate it. Besides it just being all-around crappy, every time I open it up I’m dlamed in the face with every reminder that Pix will do exactly what they’re going to do, and don’t give a CRAP what the players want. I don’t see what could possibly make me want to play it any more. You know theywill absolutely never backtrack on this latest crap, probably won’t fix the snails-crawl of a hangar UI, so there’s a real good chance it’s going down the crapper real soon and I’ll be going all in on Mech Arena.
Anybody else?

Same. MA just gets better as you adjust to the playstyle and the leveling process. I logged back into War Robots last night out of curiosity and just closed it up again. Haven't wanted to play it since MA came along.

Even against AI that out weigh me... out-thinking them is helpful, useful, and possible.
War Robots just keeps doubling down on the dumb. I know I lasted much longer than many of the folk I used to play with... but once my switch was flipped, I haven't looked back. I like checking out vids and reading the posts here and I do hold out a slight bit of hope that SOMEWHERE down the line they cut away the fat and bring back the meat and potatoes of the original game to the forefront... but it's like a tiny fungus spore of hope... not a real seed.

In the crudest way possible: Rock: Tanks. Tanks are actually tanks. They trade off some firepower to have damn near double the health of the other bots in the game. The higher levels get, the more it becomes apparent that it takes a concerted effort to actually dispatch the fatbois. Paper: support bots, scouts. Tanks might be boulders, but 4 capping them means that doesn't matter, throwing bombs at their feet, healing your buddies, or just stopping the enemy in their tracks. Plays on the fatbois weaknesses of low mobility by making the most of breaking line of sight. Scissors: Attackers. Big weapons that put out big damage. Can wipe the floor with lighter bots, but if they meet a tank unaccompanied, Big Boi can, and will, walk right up to you and take your lunch money. Battlefield awareness > Upgrades overall, but becomes increasingly apparent in rooms full of rank 4 and 5 bots. |
