My thoughts ... - Tanks should do well, Ravana as well ... maybe Strider - Deters tankers ... I'm screwed .... - In & Out vs Titans - Everyone will run shotguns or cryo (until nerf) - Can it still teleport back like Phantom if it gets locked down? - If snipers still matter, not any more - Ares/Ao Jun/Leech will be dead and targets at the beginning since most hate them and they are fragile and of course ... if it's OP (until nerf) whales will have 5 with maxed pilots by the end of the first release day Actually this is the one reason I have to ask... why even bother with damage resistance ? Do you really need it to kill fragile meta bots?

One observation I had which I think is the single biggest problem:
It enables very exclusionary/vindictive play and via discord will make very bad games
Ok player x is our target. Hit target x Till he meches or leaves.
This is very similar to the ares train. And it will amount to a very similar problem.
Destroying 1 players mechs 6 times is much stronger than destroying 1 mech from 6 players

I’ve been thinking about this new bot from a different perspective - what types of bots or situations it will target vs what the general counter is. What bots fade out of the meta because they are too vulnerable? If it teleports to you from 500m there isn’t much that can chase it during cool down, so you may not get to pick the engagement situation often. So then it’s a matter of what can handle it after warp & during ability. For example, a just landed Ao Jun is a prime target but a sprinting phantom is a terrible target.
So, I think faster bots that can reposition upon attack will handle it better. If you’re running a hangar with slower bots (even if tanked out) you are an easier target to get multiple attacks. Slow bots will need weapons that can cut through DR (corrosion, Titans weapon’s, DR mitigation module). Ancile/Aegis/PurplePower will have benefits. Mender, Tyr and Noodles are likely targets for strategic purposes. Nightingale probably not as it can evade with PS if caught after landing and get back up quickly.
From a strategic perspective, I think this thing will be powerful in BR to nab deep beacons. All you need is one blue to get too close to a beacon near spawn and allow a scorpion (or 3) to warp in for a lightning fast beacon grab. Those kinds of actions can upend games.

@gza
I don’t know.
The problem with peakaboo bots is that they all have unlimited use.
Original griffin had 25 seconds cooldown, and the jump engines could break.
Physical shields broke. Energy shields were typically weak.
But all the latest peakaboo bots, can repeatedly smash you, which is why they are so popular, they are cheaper to run.
Leeches are expensive to run in Ag / AU / usd / power cells. 4x weapons. Only storm was cheap. Otherwise required to use modern weapons. All 170. Phase shift hungry critters, max pilot to enjoy shift usage.
Ao Jun by comparison are expensive to run mostly in terms of au. They run on avengers. Maybe vipers. Maybe old economy redeemers or embers even.
The only have 2 slots. Pilot spendy but 70 wasn’t required. Power cellsa. Bonus. No required
Scorpian seems to be very cheap to run. Gonna get abused to death and choke out any temporary advantage/ limited use equipment

To me this sounds like an evolution of facing Ao Jun, with some important differences : cover will not help, they have less firepower, they will blink away much farther from me. So harder to avoid but less of a blow, harder to kill post ability. (also less likely to land defenseless in front of you when ability ends) But why does it have more firepower than a Phantom At least you see Phantom come your way, and they have only 33% DR if I remember correctly. My Fenrir will repair, my Bulwarks will phase shift and walk away, my Tyr will watch Titan's back. Just don't know how I will kill these yet. One of my Bulwarks walks around with Vipers. I also have 3 lv 1.1 Vipers collecting dust... and 3 Wasps on my AG (but AG will be vulnerable to a teleport attack and a quick kill after it lands). Sting-Pulsar Phantom to run these guys down ? Or maybe Sting-Wasp Raven (and save that 2nd jump if they teleport your way) ? I will get a Ravana at some point.

I'll wait until I'm actually fighting them before I pass judgement.
I'm expecting a return of the Phantom Legendary Pilot.

Most probably. Maxed Ao Jun / multiple AJs also hurt big times when you get caught in the open. I have more of a problem with negating the effect of cover than with the excessive firepower. (But Leech already did that with repulse going through walls).

Well the problem with this thing is 1, you don't exactly know what you are going into when you teleport behind people and 2, it has no reason to stop you from shooting it so everyone can simply blast it as they want. With leech you couldn't do this because otherwise the person it was sucking would go down with the ship. With that pressure of not hitting it being gone it is far easier to deal with than before.
Now with that out of the way the question is how do you KILL IT. First off, its ability lasts a long time, but that isn't such a bad thing. Seeing as the best corrosion weapons is viper and that is a constant firing weapon it will make full use of the time. As I have described earlier the damage a viper can do against something with 90% DR is MASSIVELY higher than avenger or any other normal weapon. Using one will deal over 100k damage to the bot itself with no boosts. 2 with boosts, but mot being maxed would bring this thing down.
So to do this you need a tanky bot or something with protection, for instance there is bulwark, 2 heavies for the vipers and good defence. Ao jun could do this better if you have the ability. A fenrir or falcon could also do this, but to a lesser degree. Another way to kill it is by simply getting away from it. The firepower is low without the built in, and since the built in has 100m range you can just step a little ways away from it to get out of the range. From there it is straight forward.
The bot (due to its ability) will likely have short range weapons so getting away like this will also make its weapons have more trouble. All that mixed together makes it become like a tfalc, hard to kill but wont do much damage. So to do all that you need to get away from it which can be done several ways, locking it down, freezing it, just being in a faster bot (phantom, strider) or having a form of cover it can't get around easily.
Now I have 2 more ways to beat it which are very simple. Stay with your teammates and get near its teleportation bacon. The former is the way we kill something like a t falc. Since the are no repercussions for hitting it the entire team can melt it together, thats all there is too it.
The latter requires you to watch where it teleports from and for it not to teleport to you. Both are easy, with 5 other people on the team and an obvious location display those factors are easy to setup. But the scorp needs to have it in a place where you can get too, with enemies being a factor and distance as well this is a rarer but very effective way to remove it.
That was a long post but I think it will be helpful for those feeling defeated by this robot. Oh and for those who want a TLDR, read it through or ignore it. I am too lazy to write one.

Thinking on that last paragraph what pix should do is make is so a scorp can't target players when they are on bacons controled by their team. This would make several things much better. First the scorps can't get to the back end of the field as you said. Second they have to rely on their teammates to contest the bacon for them to be able to teleport in. Third and final, it will give beacons a good side effect that makes player want to cap and hold them. IDK, random ideas here

Blitz + Clive Vicious + 4xSting should put serious hurt on a Scorpion. Especially if Lockdown Ammo prevents teleporting away (fingers crossed)
Phase Shift will be essential equipment...allows you to dodge some of that opening Cryo or Storm volley and react.

Ah, now theres a great counter I didn't really think of. Suppression will make this bot with its already fairly moderate firepower weak as a cossack. Rayker would probably be best for it though. With all the PS and AC now it is useful to be able to seperate your shots and have multiple. Blitz would do this well enough though, so great idea!

Sting Blitz could be worth checking if you like 600m builds. Stings are cheap-ish to level (priced like an Avenger) and fire in short bursts... (one second of firing, and three seconds of reloading). It can let you shoot from cover, and aim your shots better. It's quite a unique loadout due to it's tiny clips. AFAIK about 1/3 of Sting's damage is corrosion damage, and the other 2/3 does double kinetic damage against physical shields.

Since Quantum Radar for Titans is off the cards for now, I think I will be running a squad of 5 Lokis to combat this.
The Banana Ravanas weapons seem a little high to hit a Loki?

I can usually only pop off Lokis with my Shotgun Ravana when we're on rough terrain (to get the right height). Otherwise they're a huge PITA, even with 2.12 Sharpshooting Storms. It's hard to get close to them when they're running away from me too.

That was a long post but I think it will be helpful for those feeling defeated by this robot. Oh and for those who want a TLDR, read it through or ignore it. I am too lazy to write one. Base on the current stats of the Scorpiom, I will respectfully disagree with some of the points you mentioned. 1. Agreed that its ability lasts a long time. But any seasoned player will blink back immediately if he cannot outgun his target. Alternatively, they will also blink back after unloading their intial burst. Wait out, n come at you again after they recharged their ability till u r dead. 2. Tanks are a good counter to them. But one cannot have too many tanks in one hanger coz from the 3 to 4min mark onwards, titans start to appear, tanks are at a severe disadvantage then. Maybe during early game or late game when there are not many titans around, it will be better. But having tanks may mean having difficulties in grabbing or defending beacons as they can't outrun opponents. You defend this beacon, I'll run to all the other beacons. 3. Speedy bots can run away from Scorpions. But usually when speedy runners are hiding, its coz they r trying to replenish their speed charges (striders) or abilities (phantoms etc). In that situation, they may or may not be able to escape, depending on situation. 4. Usually after an attack, ppl retreat to wait for their ability to recharge, and reload their weapons. This make them vulnerable. This is when experienced Scorpions make their move. 5. Staying in a group, or at least in twos is a counter when one Scorpion comes at u. But when u have more than 1 Scorpion coming at u? But y would 1 Scorpion teleport to a group of reds in the first place? He would be picking a lone red instead. Not to mention, if blues are grouping together to counter Scorpions, it may mean that the whole team is too closely packed together, unable to get or defend the 3rd beacon. 6. Monitoring a Scorpion initial spawn location, and going there after their ability ends is easier said than done. 500m is a distance long enough to be near his teammates. I would think its rare a season player will make that mistake of planting their initial blink location at a location easily accessible by his enemies. I am also still thinking of a solution to counter the Scorpion and am greatly thankful that there is this thread which is actively trying to discuss it in a productive manner. Lastly, if I m running the Scorpion, I would do the following: In small maps especially, start with the scorpion, when game starts, run towards center beacon or reds side home beacon, or whichever home of side beacon of my opponents that have only 1 bot going at it, blink there, take out the red, get the beacon. After I m killed, drop a ravana (if i have it. If not, other bots that can hold beacons) and we know what happens next. Either reds spend more bots to take back the beacon, more reds coming at me leaving other beacons outnumbered by my teammates, or giving up this beacon to my team. During game play, use it as a counter for AM. Blinking to them, unload burst dmg, blink back. Repeat. If i cannot kill them, at least they will be pushed back nearer to their stronghold, away from my teammates. Targeting bots that are alone, or have just used their abilities and r retreating for its cooldown and/or reloading their weps. If they r using weps that require long cooldown (avengers, vipers), good luck to them in having no ability and ammo when i appear. All those bots that pop up/out, shoot n hide n repeat, i will go after them 1 by 1. If i appear to an enemy which is more than i can chew off, i'll just Phase Shift and blink back, find another red to kill. I thought that this is a good counter to maxed titans which does not require another maxed titan as most players do not have access to it. But the thought of it killing almost all other regular bots makes me sick. This bot with its current stats makes it a super camper bot with brawling weps that has DR, speed boost and built in dot weps that can target any reds up to 500m without any line of sight needed and with no need to move from cover to cover to get close to an enemy. No form of cover is good enough coz if that Scorpion wants u, there is no stopping him unless u r way back in large maps. But that will mean ur teammates r outnumbered in the front, n sooner or later after they start to mexh out, reds will still be able to come at u. Hope that pix will nerf its current stats b4 releasing it. Else as of now, alot of players are going to suffer more as compared when the previous meta were introduced. **Edited Just to add on, if i am running a Scorpion, reds will not/rarely see me out in the open or out of cover n try to snipe me with all the MR n LR weps coz there is no need for me to do so. N if reds are sniping at that distance, they will be top of my priority list to take out when i m within 500m of them. As i said, this is the ultimate camper bot with all the perks of a brawler that do not need any line of sight. Now, lets start think how to counter Scorpions. But i guess there are only soft counters which may only work in the right situation as of now besides using another Scorpion or Ravana as of now. Maybe loki (if n most likely Scorpion users are not using Quantum Radar coz i woukd think that they cannot target anyone in stealth)

Once again I will be looking for the damage resistance symbol to warn me of impending attack.
If a distant red suddenly gets a DR symbol he's probably going to pay me a scorpion visit.

Some thoughts based on bots with similar tricks...
Much like the Ao jun within 350, try to save whatever abilities, everything if you can when within 500 of this thing
Work together, if it goes after a blue, help or try to go after its return location like the phantom. stay near cover so if it shows you can manuever around it Last stand to survive the onslaught
Anticontrol/phase shift to escape lockdown if even possible to survive, see above
Once there are 5 red ones on map at once, not sure yet

Just had a thought the impacts of it may have on the gameplay.
Campers and lower leveled/ranked players who have it will camp more while death squads will run over randoms faster as they can come at u faster.
What will happen to tdm n dom? Nobody walking in the open, and/or walking over to opponents. Everyone is teleporting from cover. Blues teleporting over to fight reds at red's camp n beacon and vice versa. Lol
Seems like ps and last stand is more crucial now, at least to buy some reaction time when a scorpion strikes.
Walking alone in War Robots is as scary as walking alone thru a cementry at night. U never know who n when something will pop up behind u. Hahaha

Send ravana to engage a red, send scorpion once engaged

I know this is a bit OT but I didn't want to start yet another scorpion thread:
I like the design and general idea but currently it is too wild and insane. Here is what I'd like to see:
1. Range of ability 300m
2. When you teleport behind an enemy your weapons are off. Only the built in weapon does damage, let's call it sting.
3. The sting is one time attack which imidiately paralyzes the enemy for 5s (regardless AC) and does considerable Dot in those 5s. Like 70K. It bypasses all DR, PS etc.
4. The ability is teleport behind enemy, sting, than AUTOMATICALLY teleport back. It should last around 1 second, so you can't get beacons by teleporting.

I think we will transition to Ravana-Scorpion only meta. Ravana is a good counter to Scorpions. Scorpion will play the speedy role, able to teleport. These will be the only 2 bots you will need. Leech and Jun will still be strong but redundant for your typical meta player who will look to cut the fat. Why have them if you have Ravana and Scorpion type deal. Honestly if you want to stay on top of it, grab all the Ravana you can right now so they are in good levels by the time Scorpion drops. JMO, errr prediction yeah, just grab em!
