Early trials with Calamity Spark Strider 5 minutes of a rather boring FFA match, had to be dressed up with some silliness Vid is basically to show how fast this build can kill leveled bots Calamity is 12 Sparks 11 and 12 Opponents gear 10 thru 12 Champ FFA I enthusiastically 2nd this build! I've been running it for 2 weeks...similar levels to your set up BB. It is really effective at holding CB as a first drop, can go head to head with almost anything, great at knifing or supporting, and most importantly FUN AS 「fluffernutter」.

Joopiter agreed, atm I am more comfortable running it in FFA in the second half of matches, less target clutter to complicate my hi speed spazzery. I roll 3 Striders in my regular BR hangar and prefer embers because of my unhealthy addiction to yoinking beacs and initiating CQC, embers are just easier for me when smashing chests. But nothing melts 「dookie」 faster than the Calamity Gud Dammity

STRIDER TACTIC - FEIGNING DISINTEREST
This is not exclusively a Strider tactic, however, due to speed and multiple dashes, it is the best mech for it.
By using speed, you simply leave the area an opponent was trying to engage you, as if you are not interested in fighting them. They subsequently become interested in another target, and that is when you quickly position to hit them from another angle.
This is especially the way to go where dealing with a Mender or Invader. Point blank or an over-exposed assault against them is not the way to go. We’ve become very familiar with these two indestructible mechs, unloading full salvos and watching their hp go up instead of down. That’s why CQC is not advised. At the moment I’m using. Ember Halo Blaze, and frequently use this feigning tactic, allowing me to effectively cook them from an unexpected angle while they’re distracted by another scuffle. And obviously due to their high hp, haks, self-heals etc, gradual degradation will take them down.
This is actually where the Strider excels at dealing with Mender and Invader - your speed and dashes allows you to keep backing away as you work on them. CQC against these two mechs, unless they’re on a sliver of hp, is not advised.

Nobody interested in preserving the Strider mech would dare stand toe to toe with Mender/Invader etc. unless they thought this is a faster way to ditch, and take their (Mender's/Invader's) ammo via this way instead of ditching with the button. A few tactics I'd like to point out, Yesterday, BR, Carrier map
- finished off Invader from a mid-way ramp position - 1:02 time stamp - double dashed into a safe position on the red side of carrier, as they were not pushing 2:15 time stamp - ambushed a red at 2:22 time stamp, and retreated before the red could return any good fire - after blue Haechi started an engagement, I double dashed to finish the red Haechi off at 2:37 time stamp - attempted to cap red's home beacon, and nearly drained the green Chinese bot before he killed me at 2:55 For this map, it is hard to make an argument for another first drop in BR apart from Strider. Maybe Hellburner, Kumi, Pursuer, Gareth, Raven or Hover but my money is on Strider, easily, for drop 1.

I am still blown away on BB 's ability to dash onto places that with any other bot would not be possible. (except hover, there i said it... but this isnt about hover hehe) I have been practicing but am soooo far behind BB that I am just so glad he is not on Amazon... just sayin'

Gave into my urge and started to level one of those lil critters (soon at L8). Hope I won’t prove a complete Neophyte and can’t wait to experience fusion with Suckerpunch!
I’d appreciate advice on load-out.
Has anyone tried a leveled Thunder/Gusts combo? I have most heavy and light weapons except Calamity, Sparks, or root weapons of any size (those are already reserved for my Pursuer and Mercury).
Thanks

Thanks Some of my clan (scum) ran Thunder/Gust...but this was before Glory. This is a good build, but the energy shotguns are better, for many situations, which brings us to which mode? And which drop? And which map? For BR, first drop on most maps, you definitely should consider root weapons, all or in a combination with non-root weapons. Ember or Glory, see time stamp 0:46 here. This pilot's Strider and weapons (Shredder/Ember) are higher leveled, with the Last Stand module (you can see the blue light turn on). Guess which build took the beacon? Glory is strong toe to toe, but honestly there are too many variables to say any one build is a "silver bullet" for all situations, maps, modes, and match developments within a match.

Avenger Gust is a beast Ember Gust is my favorite (in absence of Halos) I run Ember Halo Blaze and frequently get Godlikes with it.

Avenger Gust is a beast Ember Gust is my favorite (in absence of Halos) I run Ember Halo Blaze and frequently get Godlikes with it. This generalization can be a little misleading, as it reads to assume all situations. Again, there are different counters for different builds, different places and situations. For example, Avenger Gust is not as good here at 0:43, would probably be a wash here at 0:40, and would definitely be better here at 1:22. Ember Halo Blaze is a good Hellburner counter, but it is hard to generalize like this without getting down to the specific situation. Video examples help illustrate effectiveness and limitations, and in my opinion, are helpful to clarify or strengthen the argument. Btw, I get Godlikes vs randoms. Versus EXO, SDS, LOST, VOX, CHN, HEAT (etc.), on the other hand....not so much.

Thanks Even if you don't become an expert with it you'll have a lot of fun taking it out. I know I do. At first you'll want to dash to get everywhere but then learn you need to save those dashes to get out of trouble. Still a heck of fun little bot. Just wish it had more HP. I'd get another one if I felt like giving Pix any more RM, but I don't so I'll be content with my one strider running in my BR hangar.

Hate that it gets out distanced by kumi, grrrrr. Anyway, finally building a second one. After Champions League crate and current round of WS (2 more days), I’ll convert the balance. Couple weeks of upgrades and the second MazdaSpeed will be ready for action. ZoomZoom. Well actually more like ZoomZoom...ZoomZoomZoom.

Is the Exodus-Spark-Halo Strider an effective build? Hmmmm....your weap ranges are 300m, 600m, and 500m...if you can manage all that and be effective you are a better pilot than me. Im a uniform range guy, one button masher

Got one but still waiting to get halos so I can run it with Ember/Halo. Sometimes I run him with Thunder/Gust when I get bored from my pursuer and I must say this bot is quite interesting

Let’s talk about best strider builds BBHere’s my favorites: Exodus / Gust - fastest killer of the setups, no need for lockdown. Spark / Glory - Combo of lock, high DPS close and flex range. Bonus obliterates other striders. Halo/Ember - I use ember blaze halo but same thing, kills fast enough hits everyone. Halo/Glory - fun but you gotta be too close to really smoke them.

Spark Calamity. Vaporizes mid / low HP bots in the open.
Will try out Halo Spark Calamity for the lockdown.

Letâ??s talk about best strider builds BB Hereâ??s my favorites: Exodus / Gust - fastest killer of the setups, no need for lockdown. Agreed, this was my first build and still an old favorite. Massive in your face damage within 100m, only liability is when Exo is spent and youâ??re stuck in a pressure situation your gusts have to do it all.Spark / Glory - Combo of lock, high DPS close and flex range. Bonus obliterates other striders. Will have to try this one out, sounds funHalo/Ember - I use ember blaze halo but same thing, kills fast enough hits everyone. I always have at least one of this build active in my hang, sometimes two. An absolute killer on DC, valley, powerHalo/Glory - fun but you gotta be too close to really smoke them. Just recently made this my starter bot for BR, slapped my only big boy modules on it so it can take it and dish it for a bit longer. Excels going up the gut on Shenzhen to start, if you can manage dashes until you get to their home to nail the hat trick. IMO this build works the fastest when dashing into the grills of Ares and Au Junebugs for the quick strikes.
Two other builds that I use: Halo/Viper: I always assumed that Viper was a novelty weap until I got one for free and tried it out. Like scourge, Viper gets nastier the closer you get and I have gone thru enough big boys to prove it. I mostly use this build when we have a beac advantage and I stay out around 400m and troll. REALLY fun build that can infuriate the reds. Up on roof on Dreadnought can be sublime if your team is taking care of business downstairs. Lock em down and machine gun em with snowballs as long as you keep dancing to avoid their fire. Spark/Calamity: maintaining lock is a challenge for me in heavy traffic, I find the Calamity very slippery, but up close nothing melts ?dookie? faster, this build is my biggest challenge because it can be so OP in certain situations and a complete liability in others. I have to be VERY selective with who I engage with. Dreadnought - grab some roof time and you will be everybody’s pal! Horrible on DC and corner heavy maps in my experience.

I have't leveled my Calamity because its hard to imagine playing strider at longer ranges effectively when the field is covered in greeks. Also, I find that using Glory on top gives you too many outs. Also, hitting the lock on invader while sparks melt so they can't rejump is yuuuuuuge.

Calamity Strider is a wildcard build IMO, I’m still experimenting with different approaches. Great Invader tip, gonna try this later. ?
