I know this is done in strider but I did this with my hover. The funniest moment in my entire 2+ years of playing. Maybe repost in a more appropriate thread.
I spawned my first bot in DOM on Yama. I flew my hover over the covered passageway after destroying bots on my way. I got to the other side (the east side?) and limped around back. I was down to just my halo (light). No one was paying attention. I was limping right up to the beacon blasting away at a griffin who just spawned. the beacon was mine and the griffin died. with a L9 halo! It was the funniest experience ever. It was like I was invisible. No one paid attention to me... Someone finally cought on and I was done for being about 90% damaged.
This I would expect from a strider being fast and all.
Hahaha, ladies and gentlemen, here we have an example from the wilds of War Robots, where a Hover pilot went full we tard and thought he was a Strider pilot. Make no mistake, a Strider can hover too, briefly, when it dashes and hits the invisible wall midair, but there’s a big difference here. A Strider hovering, looks like a Strider hovering, not a Hover pretending it’s a Strider. SuckerPunch can spot a wannabe Strider instantly, like: Ouch.... Now that is how to encourage others! Thanks ogre, you are top shelf!

Which heavy is preferred and at what minimum level ? Exodus is ok at L5, guess splash works to an advantage to cover poor aim. Ember over L8 for lead and hit?
No one seems to like thunder but sports gust as a support light. Thoughts?
And to avoid @ogre 's ire in that a lowly "hover pilot" would dare have a strider, (I'm asking for a friend).

I find Ember the most effective heavy for CQC. Blaze and a Halo on lights. The Ember is especially effective against Hellburners and really any other Strider builds I encounter.

I have been, oh, um I mean MY FRIEND has been running exodus and not too happy with it at its current level. He has embers L10 L8 on Ao Jun and an L1 in the tool shed. If only he had blaze X2 he could blaze ember...
Anyway I will relay this info and get back to my Hover thread. cheers

**SuckerPunch newsflash** YAM. Just climbed up the short rail side and dashed top chord over an Ares, dropped down right in back of him and roasted his giant, closed disco, clueless azz while he was frantically looking around at who was lighting him up No vid, sorry...........no I’m not.... P.S. translation for RedRaider : This move was done in a STRIDER, a bot that does not have a button that makes it hover or fly. It had to be skillfully piloted in order to climb and navigate a very THIN rail at a very fast speed in a very short window of opportunity so as to kill a very large and scary OP Ares bot that had no idea that he was being stalked from above his head by a bot that DOES NOT FLY . I know....yawwwwwn....happens everyday! ? ***transmission complete**

I've tried a few heavy builds. Ember, glory, exodus and thunder and I keep going back to thunder/ gust. It just seems to work better for me. Glory was fun when the "rooting bug" was around.

OH MAN I can see where the skill and planning come into some of the moves you make. I was on castle working on the "back entrance" to the bridge. Getting the dashes just right so you make it to the bottom platform without hitting the edge and "kerrPlunk" in the water. I will be watching over and over how you get to the different areas and such. WARNING: Trying these moves without parental supervision, or in a battle, is dangerous!!!

If I had another glory and 2 halos I would duplicate my mercury, but I am not, currently, going to expend that much resources for that build. I will just run my Ember gust gust for now

my preferred strider MK1 builds : Avenger-halo/gust/combo, Ember-blaze/halo/gust combo. I really enjoy the lvl 12 MK1 avenger stridology. Additionally, getting avenger to lvl 12 is short and cheap. I see striders with glorys and embers quite often, but avenger is far more bang for the buck than pilots think, given it's scarcity on striders in the wild. It'll dish more damage than a thunder or glory in point blank engagements, which is kind of where you usually end up as a strider pilot.
for MK2 I would add Exodus in the mix the reason being, exodus has to be a 1 shot kill arrangement, otherwise you're kinda stuck when it's magazine is spent. I'm not saying exo isn't viable at MK1, but strider ain't exactly a tank. Either have the dashes to get out or enough firepower to stay in.
IMHO...

Got to give props to this Stider pilot in FFA. Maxed out with last stand, healing modules and Ember/Gust combo. Power plant. Jeez he was good. 2.3m I came a distant second 1.5m in damage. Managed to kill him a few times but he killed me more (red mist!) Was surprised how well it stood up at Mrk 2 and last stand and healing.

Either have the dashes to get out or enough firepower to stay in. Brilliant?? .......and on that note, THIS build HAS the power to not only stay IN, but QUICKLY DISPATCH. Clock it, bank it, run it No joke, the answer to the question WHICH HEAVY WEAP WORKS THE FASTEST WHEN IN CQC? Calamity with Sparks is your answer....WOW! Just took it out on its maiden voyage ?

If it’s any indication to the trust I have in BB, I just sold a bunch of maxed gear I never use anymore so I can upgrade this build - Hydras, Gekkos, Flux, Tempests, Molots, Punishers, and several bots. Gonna bring the hurt to all dem hobofos in FFA

Pilot Moby_dic Close Quarters Combat where the JUICE is! within 50m is my definition face to face up close n personal all snuggy n huggy With lock on energy weaps mounted on Strider, lock on becomes a bit dicey if you get TOO close though, Im still trying to adjust that aspect of it

Early trials with Calamity Spark Strider 5 minutes of a rather boring FFA match, had to be dressed up with some silliness Vid is basically to show how fast this build can kill leveled bots Calamity is 12 Sparks 11 and 12 Opponents gear 10 thru 12 Champ FFA

Was expecting a lot lower damage than that. Â Guess I should start building one... Damage is weird, sometimes Iâ??ll do amazing things to turn the tide, but damage comes in low. Glory takes big bites out of other mechâ??s ?multiple dookie delivery chute?, so do Scourges from above.,,, Generally, I donâ??t get impressed by damage, my own, other blues, or other reds. Damage is somewhat overrated in this game, among clans as well as the Moscow mothership. Territory, territory control, beacons, lynchpin beacons, back-breaking turn of events are all far more important, usually. The Glory is lvl 12, Halo lvl 10, Gust mk2 lvl 12. My Strider is lvl 12. I like this build, I run the Gust to help lower shields, and the energy shotguns help root. For me, Glory is a good choice for the heavy slot, as Iâ??m never still for too long when in Strider. The match: one red did zero, and the other 5 were either in slow bots on the first drop or they didnâ??t push. Whatever, they gave up a lot of territory, and I found myself to continuously be at â??the right placeâ? For this match, the Sucker Punch Foundation is sending me a voucher for a free happy meal from McDonalds, I hope they bring the mini Furbies back.
