The time has come. This is the day many of us have been waiting for our entire War Robots lives. Pixonic has finally noticed our valiant efforts to make the game more transparent and accessible to all and reached out to us this week to offer their support. It's almost surreal, isn't it? For that, I'd like to thank them first and foremost for sharing our values and goals. So what's going to happen? We've discussed several ways in which they could help us out, but we can all agree that the most important is the fact that we're now so-called "War Robots insiders". That means we'll finally have a reliable source of information for the wiki and forum, and be able to (at least partially) answer some of the most aggravating questions of all time (MM 「whiskey tango foxtrot」 ). We're super super excited about what this new partnership will bring, as we've hardly even scratched the surface in terms of what's possible with Pixonic's support. Here's a quick teaser about what Pixo's been up to recently: The high anticipated "league"-based matchmaker is almost finished and will be out in full force by January (Feb at the latest). It will apparently solve most sealclubbing and unbalanced team issues, as it's similar to the MMR system used in League of Legends (but will still factor in hangar rating, so it's not pure ELO). That's all for now! Watch this announcement for more info, as we will be updating it regularly Update 1/9/2017: Pixo is back! Get ready for the new MM, which goes live about a week from now. Update 12/30/2016: Another update came in today! Pixonic is going on Russian holidays for a week or two, but we got a glimpse of what they're planning for War Robots in the vaguely-near future. So, as it turns out: - They have been hearing our complaints about lag and damage not registering, and to address this are working on a complete overhaul of the netcode that should reduce lag and traffic consumption substantially.
- Also coming up is a rework of the graphics rendering process that uncouples it from the game mechanics. Apparently the game currently relies on the visuals to determine how all of the mechanics play out, and this is the cause of a number of bugs/glitches such as vanishing rockets after death and inconsistent weapon behavior. After this update these issues should be massively improved.
I should stress that this is still very much in-development stuff, so not even Pixonic is sure when it'll be ready. But at least it's something to look forward to going into the new year (not to mention all of the other juicy features like custom battles!) and looking back on how far War Robots has come in the past year, I think Pixonic deserves a round of applause. There may have been bumps along the way, but when all is said and done there's little doubt that they're some of the most committed developers out there. Happy New Year forumers! Update 12/26/2016: Just here to confirm that the wild west bots will be available after the event and will receive a buff to make them less of a disappointment. Update 12/14/2016: Check out the War Robots fan pack, which contains high-res images of every robot and weapon in the game, as well as editable photoshop documents of various robots and overhead shots of maps. We will be featured on the War Robots Facebook page sometime next week, so expect a spike in activity soon! I've also taken over the r/walkingwarrobots subreddit, so check it out if you're a redditor like me! (well, not quite, but I visited the front page once so I think that counts) Happy forum-ing and stay tuned for more! Update 12/9/2016: I figured people could use a break from MM speculation, so here's another exciting tidbit: also coming in the first quarter of 2017 is custom squad vs. squad matches! No more messing around with VPN and counting down to press battle. There will also be an in-game announcements section to promote community resources (that's us!). Update 1/12/2017: Jesse, Doc, Butch weapon popping will be toned down a bit

The MM announcement does not sound like good news, and frankly, I think that a LoL-style MM, or any Elo type matchmaker for that matter, would be terrible for this game. Why?
Equipment is highly unbalanced, especially level wise, in this game.
The Elo system works in chess because quite obviously everyone starts with the same pieces, so the only real determining factor is skill. It works in LoL because even though player champions might be slightly unbalanced in comparison to each other, they (correct me if I'm wrong) all start each match at a low level on roughly equal footing, and how unbalanced they become later own depends entirely on player actions during that match.
In short, games that use successful Elo MM systems almost always have one thing in common: players start each game on roughly equal terms, meaning that player skill, not what items a player has, is the main determining factor of the outcome of a game.
War Robots is not among those games. Not only are all hangars unequal, they can often be extremely unequal- tell me how much fun it was to face your first MagGep clubbers while in noob bots, or how much you enjoyed getting murdered by maxed clans the moment you left low silver. All an Elo type MM will do is punish you for playing well by making you fight much stronger hangars every time until your rating drops, and reward sandbagging your Elo rating by allowing you to play hangars with much weaker equipment- at least until enough higher level players start doing it too. The only good that I see coming of it is that it will give MagGep clubbers their comeuppance, and that's not saying much, especially if you play in big boy tiers where Gepards are prey.

Yes I can totally see where you're coming from. However keep in mind that rewards will also be overhauled along with the new MM, with more emphasis placed on advancing to higher leagues than win rate. Also it will not be as simple as plain ELO to account for the things you mentioned (for example, there could be adjustments to reward weaker hangars, new players, etc). While there will always be imbalance in the game, the only reason they're changing the system is to reduce it. ELO has also shown success in games such as Clash of Clans and Clash Royale where upgrading is even more important than it is in War Robots. I've been a big proponent of adaptive performance-based matchmaking for a while now and I really do think it will massively improve match quality.

I bet that "overhauling" rewards really means "cutting them in half again" in Pixo speak.

Are you saying that a maxed hangar with a 10% win rate could be put into low gold or even silver?
And a 3 bot hangar with 90% win rate could be put in high gold?

Are you saying that a maxed hangar with a 10% win rate could be put into low gold or even silver? And a 3 bot hangar with 90% win rate could be put in high gold? Doubt it. I think that Pixo will put something into place to prevent such gross mismatches from happening, although seeing their recent "sale" pricing on the Rhino, there's no guarantee of anything. Also, it's not impossible to get an extremely poor winrate if you are in a clan or platoon with your friends regularly. All you have to do is to get your buddies to throw match after match until all your stats go down far enough, so a 10% or lower win rate is entirely feasible, although like mentioned before, Pixo will probably put a floor on how far down you can go. Even then, you could probably still get some benefits from sandbagging. A 90% winrate for a 3 bot hangar is extremely difficult unless you do seal clubbing or platooning. If it's the former, then you belong with the big boys anyway.

Intentionally Losing 45 matches out of 50 seems like a painful way to gain some short term advantage with a 10% win rate. That is some serious dedication to being a complete LOSER!

Hm, increased rewards at higher tiers and decreased rewards at lower tiers sounds nice. Gives people a reason to move up.

@curry pot As the game stands now match making isn't working, the potential problems you have cited with a new system are already happening. The system needs to be patched for loopholes but I see little problem with high level hangers (with low win rates) getting matched with low hangers with high win rates. the aim is for a theoretical match should the difference be too great, then the system should rebalance until games find an equilibrium.
I find I'm at a good place in match making, I win most and lose some, about half of my games I carry the team to victory. I'm already being matched with hangers MUCH BETTER than mine, yet it doesn't seem like it's helping these players...
Pix has needed to do something for a long time. As it stands clubbers especially the MagGep clans are really hurting the players testing the waters and trying to decide whether they'll continue or not.

That is great news to hear! The forum team is definitely dedicated to supporting the game in all aspects and hearing that Pix is going to lend any kind of support is Awesome!
Most would agree the MM system has serious flaws and that they are working to fix should be celebrated.
Dont understand all the whining, 「female dog」ing, and moaning about something we know few details on. We know they are taking steps to improve the MM!
I think we can all agree and hope its is not the same team that did the pricing on the Black Friday Sale! Beyond that, all that has been said should be taken as very positive steps for the Game and the support of this forum!

Congrats to the guys involved behind the scenes to make this happen. You're welcome. It was a little terrifying at first. Because Pix hunted me down on my RL FB page which is not linked to my game or even to this forum. And yet I had a Russian dude messaging me on FB asking if I was the dude involved in the War Robots Wiki...

The new MM system sounds horrifyingly similar to Rovio's BattleBay which sucks because there will be players who will purposely lower their ratings just to bash newbies or lower tiers with their max tier bots. Of course, their division system has a 2 week duration, and all rewards are tied to last division standings rather than current elo/trophies. There are also bad players who are just bad at the game, but they still have high level bots which take out low level bots with ease, which means even with skill, a frontal confrontation tends to leave the skilled destrier dead as the noob plasma griffin saunters off into the sunset. I have very bad experiences of getting one shot by top geared ships in that game, I hope it won't pan out that way for War Robots.

It's a zip file. Any android archiver should be able to extract it. For example play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rarlab.rar&hl=enOnly works on Windows PCs I think. Sorry, I don't mean to savage you but the zip format is very much platform-independent lol. Just google "file archiver for [your platform]" and you'll find a program that opens it.
