So, the Arachnos has a starting HP of 24k and it's the slowest mech in the game. Suddenly, I'm not that interested anymore! But, if I finish the Derby and get it for free, why not, I'll give a spin and see if it's worth leveling up. I haven't looked at the progressions of existing mechs to compare it, but it does start at 3 Stars... what does that compare to as far as existing mechs? 32 EN max(attacker) Same HP as Panther, Zephyr and Killshot Same speed as brickhouse. Turret does less damage per bullet than Autocannon 4 at base level.

Well, it's free, and unless you were planning on spending thousands of dollars worth of coins to rush upgrade it, it isn't catching up to the rest of your stuff anyway, so 🤷🏽♂️

Looks like it's right below Guardian in terms of HP. About 4k less in terms of starting HP. Fully leveled, it should be pretty tanky.

It's the same HP pool as panther, killshot, and Zephyr. Every mech seems to have recieved 10-15K more health than it's previous max.

I'll give it a whirl, though I'm not sure I want to go any slower. I am already losing games because I'm forcing myself to not use 2 KSs in anticipation of the Twin Culling of 2021. Not enough hanger speed. May have to go with the Shadow eventually.

We’re not going to run around and chase stuff down with it but a MD (etc.) and an Arachnos could hold a beacon or choke point on the map. Might make for some interesting CPC moments.

I'm already thinking of many locations where I could put it so it wouldn't get noticed until too late. The main mech or group of mechs would be the focus while the cannon hits from the side or behind. Yeah I am sure we can find uses... but sub AC4 base damage is pretty bad. BUT, if it doesn't ever reload, and you can place it and then walk off... it def can still have uses. Plenty of places in this week's Tourney map set that could benefit... and CPC maps, in general, have a lot of places to use it.
Having 2 or 3 active on one team at the same time might be interesting... especially in TDM... defense zones could be set up to entirely protect a flank while serving as a tripwire... hmmm.

I don't find that as appealing. Let me set and forget it if it does that little damage. However, until I can either play against it or get one and try it out, it's all just speculation anyway.

I think the Arachnos is underpowered. If it could deploy more than one turret at a time, at least two maybe 3, then it would be a force to be reckoned with. Who knows, maybe when you rank it up, you get another turret? That would be cool.

So may not be horrible if you miss a day you may just have 40 tasks to aim for.
I'm curious what the other days will be.. I really hope there are not bot specific ones ..

4 more days before we get the Arachnos and I don't even know if it's worth it anymore. Do we even know what the max EN is anymore? They said 24EN before, but that was before the EN buff for 24EN mechs to 32EN, and they did say that the Arachnos would be getting one of the highest EN in the game.
If the max is 24, then I might try it with dual RM24 one day but if it's 32EN, then it might be a decent RG16 platform. Slow and steady means more shots on target. Also, can use the spider drone as a quasi shield...anyone know the HP of the drone?

If nothing else, it's a free heavy newbies can use without investing coins to obtain(Panther/Guardian). At worst, it's a wallflower that only fat wallets will have at a sizable level anytime soon. Even with the latter, I consider being killed by wallet warrior mechs a preview of performance that doesn't cost me a penny. With the new EN cap changes, I really don't see running 2 heavy mechs as viable for anyone that isn't in the first stretch of top tier (low R6), because weapons are scarce for 20+ power. 2/2/1: Light/Medium/Heavy seems to be the optimal route for a 5 mech hangar for anyone not solidly planted in the upper echelons. Any other split will be under-armed until the high rank/EN weapons are duplicated, and even then, the only symmetrical 24/32 combos are Stasis(12/16), Carb 12, Rocket Mortars, and Railgun. 2 mediums geared up with thanos builds seems like it would be more effective than a single dual Railgun mech. But yea, 3 heavies is pretty much out. 3+ mediums is out unless one is willing to run carb, stasis, and Mortars in a single hangar, and light mechs seem to be the only category that's favored for how weapons are hashed out. Light mechs, of course, still cost more coins to rank up than the other weight classes. With weapon limitations where they currently are, it feels like a soft way of implementing what BoT did with hangars having limitations based on the weight classes of mechs.
