We just had the "You spend too much time playing" talk (again) last night. "Pay more attention to me" <sigh> & 63 going on 15.... If my woman said "pay attention to me" I would put the game down...  Not that kind of attention, darn it. She wants me to do that "talk to me" thing... <a 3rd sigh> |

Now lets talk about how Sabbath and Motorhead are still better than this screamo crap  The very fact that we can blows my mind. It's still basically the same genres 30-40 years later. A song penned 30 years ago could be recorded today and sound new and original. Unimaginable when we were kids. Lol - couple years ago my stepson's eyes bugged out when he was playing Avenged Sevenfold's version of Flash of the Blade and I started singing along - "How do you know this song?" he asked... Aah, the ignorance of youth |

"talk time" is always how you get the motor started! Haven't you figured this out yet? Shopping works too, but talk time is cheeper. |

I'm 49. As noted in the other thread, people of my generation were born and raised on arcade games, early cart consoles, Apple/C64/TRS80 gaming and so on. Proposing that we are "too old" is one of the most deadliest and naive statements one can make and honestly will mark you as an idiot. You are a pioneer! The golden generation! |

I'm 28 and I thought I was one of those kids who never "grew up" as I hit a lull in my gaming at my early to mid 20's and the past few years back at it. Especially now with this game.
Here's the thing that kids don't realize.
At what point are they going to decide they are too old and refuse to play games? Soon video games will be a part of everyone's lives from any generation, as mentioned above, you mid aged gentlemen grew up during the dawn of gaming. So at what age is the cut off? When are we too old? Because in two more years I'll be 30 and I sure hope it's not the end of acceptable gaming age.
Furthermore, with age comes responsibility and with that comes bills. Now with bills comes priorities and with priorities comes the fact that our elders may not spend their money on the latest and greatest video game console. Unlike the kid who begs santa or goes and makes a few bucks so he can get that brand new 80 dollar game would.
So with that it brings me to my main point. Every adult has a phone and most of these phones are very capable devices. For example, my 10 yr old laptop I got for college is a Duo Core Processor running at 1.7Ghz with 2GB RAM. I never upgraded because by the time it was outdated, my phone was more powerful than it!
For comparison, my current phone has an Octa Core (4x1.5 Ghz and 4x2.0Ghz) CPU and 3GB RAM. In a tiny device which I have with me at all times.
Now since tech has gotten to this point it brings back a ton of old time gamers who otherwise, due to responsibilities, wouldn't bother dumping the money into a gaming computer or console.
Now we can game it up anywhere! Right from our pocket! At ANY age! At ANY time!
Also the forums tend to draw the elder crowd in general I'm sure due to the fact that young kids don't concern themselves with discussing strategy and the inner workings or whatever may come up about a game.

We were late for christmas dinner one year. The reason, my father was going for a personal best and flipping the score in video pinball for the third time... I can't tell this story to my woman, it would just give credence to her idea that all men are just (physically) grown little boys. |

First electronic game was pong ... 2 wired rotary controllers
played arcades (space invaders/Phoenix (favourite) /battlezone/Asteroids/pacman)
ZX spectrum at home ... 48K RAM ... amazing games considering Jet Set Willy - anyone?
PC games - Doom / Quake / Unreal / Dukenukem
Playstation
actually fairly new to playing games on a android device - amazed at (original) quality of game for something that is free to download & play
