I'm 41 and what I've learned is...
I still feel like I'm 12 half the time.

> my father knows more about computers then me, and he is 40ish When your dad and I were kids, we were much closer to the bare metal, and all of the tech you take for granted we watched be created and evolve. You will never know the true joy that is SCSI termination, you plug things in and they generally work. Buy yourself a stack of raspberry pi's and start doing some projects, you will quickly surpass your dads knowledge and a lot of your peers. Honestly the skills you gain will serve you for the rest of your life! actually he works with computers all day. Oddly so do I (dear god I hope I'm not your dad) My advice stands, I own a bunch of PI's already, for 10-30 bucks you can break them and not want to cry!

I'm just a hop skip and jump from turning 60. I was never really a big gamer when I was younger and of course my nephew tried to get me into playing his Xbox or Playstation within the last 5 years and at the time I didn't have the patience or desire for it but now that I'm a little bit older and a lot less healthy I have nothing but all the time in the world. I guess you just have to find the right game. Heck I might buy myself a game system now that I've been playing this game a while and see what else I can do. But for now it's War Robots all the way.

I too have no idea what this was all about, and I'm, well, old. So, as far as I'm concerned, wisdom of age rules, and those who disagree must be youths lacking wisdom

I was there when pong was born. Not the one that came out on the Atari, this was long before consoles. I played it in a pizza parlor. There was no such thing as arcades, either. Just pinball and this newfangled pong.
The young don't know ?poo-poo? about video games.

I'm in my 30's and I love this game. I like the strategy and the teamplay reminds me of counterstrike from my college days. Mobile gaming is here and I couldn't be happier with the flexibility to take such a sophisticated game and play it on the go. 20 min commute on the rail to work? No problem, that's 2 games of awesome free time I can play to pass the time.

Dudes..when my arthritis is not acting up I hand out arses...Too old???...Pfft!..If it wasn't for the older guys here playing Commodore 64 and Colecovision and Atari, the whippersnappers would be playing with sticks and rocks. My early days dumping quarters in machines and buying the cartridge games paved the way...As did the older others here...
War Robots is mind ...Age is an irrelevant concept.

I'm 49. As noted in the other thread, people of my generation were born and raised on arcade games, early cart consoles, Apple/C64/TRS80 gaming and so on. Proposing that we are "too old" is one of the most deadliest and naive statements one can make and honestly will mark you as an idiot. 44 here and I grew up on video games much like you did. First gen consoles, Commodores, etc... through every generation of PC and console since. I may not have the hand-eye coordination of a younger player anymore but I've been playing some variation of twitch reflex shooters since the late 70s. Particularly in slower paced and more tactical games, older players like myself tend to do quite well for ourselves. Experience has its own benefits. With giant robot games in particular, you're going to pull in old wargamers too (especially BattleTech players) who have a love for the genre and decades of experience at the sort of tactical thinking used in these games. Not every Gen-X kid like me was a gamer nerd since childhood but plenty were. With Boomers, few had the opportunity (although my father-in-law was playing Spacewar! on university computers when I was in diapers), but lots of Boomers are retired now. Retired people have lots of time to learn and master new skills sets. The limited motions needed to play War Robots aren't exactly taxing on the elderly. Video games aren't new. They're as old as disco. I know they are traditionally stereotyped as being part of youth culture (along with loud music, most genres of which also date back to the disco era) but most of those stereotypes date from my childhood. I'm still waiting for some new youth culture to evolve that isn't just a high-tech rehash of what I grew up on. (Grin) When do I get to complain about kids listening to "racket" and being unrelatable and rebellious? My dad felt old at 30. His kid's music, interests and subcultures were alien to him. I'm 44 and still waiting for culture to change enough to make me feel old. Lord knows that yet another giant robot video game isn't going to do it. Dubstep, on the other hand, gives me hope that I might someday be a crotchety old fart who doesn't get it someday.

cakeordeath from a crotchety old fart. I never feel old, unless my back is acting up, my knee is bothering me, my shoulder hurts, either one. Can't find my big button phone. Can't remember where I am, even then I can't remember how old I am, or rambling on about something. What were we talking about again?

Never say a man or a woman is too old to do anything. Last night on the 7pm news, a 81yrs old grandma graduated from college. If old timers can do that. Why not video games? Everyone has a brain, we come across something new, we try it, adapt and through slow process of practice we get better at it especially if its fun. Me and my dad play clash of clans on weekends and he has been playing it for a few months ever since i talked him into replacing is 3310 nokia for a smartphone.

Now lets talk about how Sabbath and Motorhead are still better than this screamo crap The very fact that we can blows my mind. It's still basically the same genres 30-40 years later. A song penned 30 years ago could be recorded today and sound new and original. Unimaginable when we were kids.
