A strider is sitting in storage and waiting to connect with its pilot who is lusting for a mad dasher to thoroughly wreak havoc and confusion. Alas, the bot is a NE version and at L1... so it may be summer before it sees some action ;-( Be sure to power down its A. I..... If you happen to be in a LEO/NATASHA/FURY when SUCKERPUNCH links with you...the screams are pure torture....

Strictly bots capable of a shock and awe or flanking play style. I run: - Pursuer (2x shredder, 1x gust, super strange combo but for some reason it’s a killer) - Hover (taser build) - Falcon (avenger, 2x exodus) - Bulwark (2x avenger) - Mercury (2x halo, ember) According to my upgrade plan (I have followed religiously so far) my OE Hover setup is due for upgrades next (Hover from L10-12, L12 Scourges to MK2). Then I’d like to test replacing the Merc which is effective but a bit of a one trick pony with a Strider. Feedback and encouragement to change plans are welcome. With a single exception: I shall not ever abandon my Hover! It’s personal

I dogfight in a KUMIHO (STORMS)... I see the Merc as the bigger, dumber one who gets all pouty when he sees his faster, sexier cousin Strider whipping around and showing off. This annoys Big Merc and his over inflated ego so he throws tantrums and stealth-hulk smashes whatever is unlucky enough to be in his range. Sure you will get bigger numbers with Merc, but Strider can do a million things that Big Merc and most other bots just cannot do. STRIDER says Respect my Mobilitah!!!

Currently building a Mercury for my ember/ blaze, would a strider be a better fit? I just started building components this morning so I can still cancel if I need to, please advise!

Definitely cancel and go strider. I have both and while the Mercury works very well the strider is faster! STRIDER is faster.... But it can't jump over a building stealthed, kill thru floors/walls, or cover 200m targeted ONLY by Quantum Radar... I run both in my hangar and create more chaos in a MERC... I'm not pushing either way...just think about what you want.

Storm Kumi does sound intriguing. You sure you want to mount a Falcon on your Leo...? Poor thing ;-). But more seriously, for Falcon Avenger/2x Tridents is very versatile and affordable. For a strict brawler I’d recommend a setup that delivers damage fast like Exodus or maybe Embers

I love your psychoanalysis of the Mercury, BB! Tantrum sounds exactly right. Either it’s highly effective or not at all. And either way, more often than not it’s over really fast. That’s why the Strider is so appealing to me. It looks like one can cause all kinds of trouble and more than once. You really are selling me even more on it. At which level does this lil critter start to be effective?

schrotterI highly recommend leaving it untouched until it’s at lvl. 9 TOP speed if you can. If you bring it out too soon you will be disappointed, true for most bots in my experience. Once at lvl. 9 you will be ready to burn.

Once at lvl. 9 you will be ready to burn. I will offer a counter opinion of starting earlier, say level 7. You will get a feel for the learning curve, 7 gets you close to max speed, dash is the same AND it will teach you survival skills! But def don’t make a snap judgement call. Keep playing it until at least lvl 9. I love mine, and it’s been stuck at 10 for ages. Does OK in 7000+ Champions League. Well, it all seemed better until right at 7000. Seems like that is some threshold for getting on the daily special for whale food diners, but that’s a story for another thread, another time.

Ok....but you only get the award if your team wins... Don't get me wrong... I run a STRIDER & KUMIHO in my lineup...so I like to have capping speed ...but speed isn't the only answer. Shorten the distance traveled by jumping over things and you are moving faster...

Top chord bee ah chez..... You sneaky bah-stard. How did you do that? I tried briefly a while ago, but always stalled half-way. Are you going up the support beam or gliding to it from a launch point? Man, I would love to do a perfect superglide from up there!

Rollo Tomasi schrotterSo we had a 3-2 beac advantage and the reds went into the standard “fall back and make the rest of the match a boring slog fest” because that’s what teletubbies without testicles tend to do. OUT OF BOREDOM I decided to spawn back at our home to give the rail climb a random try like I do from time to time because Pix likes to change things up and not tell us. Running the top chord of the bridge is something I have done hundreds of times with Ssacks and Rogs in the past so I know what’s what. Anyhoo, BOOM, after two tries nailed it, I even killed a red from up there then fell off ? stoopid Strider and her high heels! Will post a vid later of me doing it in custom. Early speculation is that snapping a super-glide off there will be phenomenally difficult because of the clunky dividers on the inside chord. The outside chord is nice and smooth for dashing though.

I know this is done in strider but I did this with my hover. The funniest moment in my entire 2+ years of playing. Maybe repost in a more appropriate thread.
I spawned my first bot in DOM on Yama. I flew my hover over the covered passageway after destroying bots on my way. I got to the other side (the east side?) and limped around back. I was down to just my halo (light). No one was paying attention. I was limping right up to the beacon blasting away at a griffin who just spawned. the beacon was mine and the griffin died. with a L9 halo! It was the funniest experience ever. It was like I was invisible. No one paid attention to me... Someone finally cought on and I was done for being about 90% damaged.
This I would expect from a strider being fast and all.

Hahaha, ladies and gentlemen, here we have an example from the wilds of War Robots, where a Hover pilot went full we tard and thought he was a Strider pilot. Make no mistake, a Strider can hover too, briefly, when it dashes and hits the invisible wall midair, but there’s a big difference here. A Strider hovering, looks like a Strider hovering, not a Hover pretending it’s a Strider. SuckerPunch can spot a wannabe Strider instantly, like:
