Maybe they adjusted mm a bit before they released it on Android with the data they had from iOS? I run 6/8 mediums and heavies right now with a win rate about 74% and yes, competition is strong, but I get no completely unbalanced matches. I loose quite a bit, but as damage is soaring high make much more ag than before. Right now it feels not too bad. After having played for about two hours now, I begin to like it. This is why I can't wait until my weapons and bots get upgraded. I have a feeling I'll be doing really well around 8/8 with meds and lights. Will take a long time though, heh.

I agree. There is no more creating advantage with high weapons and low bot levels. My weapon levels seem to be the most consistent match with Reds so far. My low bot levels don't allow survival. Do you think bot penalties are also eliminated? Yes - the only penalty is not having 12/12 equipment right off the bat. You can run whatever you want now days - brit bots, wsp bots and weps, gold bots, etc. Seems like wep levels and not types are one of the criteria for MM. But the amount of time for the Elo thing to adjust is also something in play....it is not quick. Drop in 1/1 grasshoppers and you will still face the same opposition until your win rate tanks so much that you then may see 1/1 to 3/3 competitors. And then you can drop in 12/12 equipment and ride it upwards for 25 or so matches....that is the new version of clubbing. Well, it is more like Bludgeoning because it is even more brutal - please don't do it as it really is a crap way of playing, but it is what some on IOS are doing as a way of protest that is causing even more instability. Hang in there! The new system is 「dookie」, period. I go up to 60%, then get butchered. I can see why people are tanking their win rates to play lower level stuff. I go down to about 48%, then other people carry me up to 60+%, then back down I go. Doesn't matter what I do, upgrade my 「dookie」, change bots in and out. It's the same. I'm beginning to feel that the whole game is a waste of time. Before there was something to aim towards. Maybe I can make top player in the match. Now, it's 「fluffernutter」, I hope I don't come bottom (again). If the developers think they'll attract people through this, they're so wrong; Week 1. Damn, I rock. Week 2, Jesus, this got hard. Week 3, I rule at Angry Birds!

Hope things settle down soon. I've played over 100 matches this weekend and I'm still seeing a lot of overkill bouts on both sides.
4 Natasha campers lobbing artillery in one match...nothing but shielded bots the next. I haven't had a shielded bot out all weekend, but I get stuck fighting a red team full of them.
Feeling like Green Bay against Atlanta. Not trying to game the system. Was never a clubber, but my new win rate is in the 30's. Fun times. Not.

Update: I feel the new matchmaker is completely screwed with regards to squad play. I'd recommend PIX role it back ASAP. Last night we rolled as a clan looking for other strong clans. We were near full, 6x top players with 5 slot maxed hangers on the hunt for a match. Instead we got noobs: one game the opposing team was full of solo players with an average bot level of 6, an average weapon level of 7, 3.5 slots on average and an average player level of 25. How the hell does the matchmaker decide that maxed, squading level 30s with cost no object hangers should get matched against complete noobs? Not fun for us, certainly not fun for them. By the end of the night we were putting in weird bots with Punishers, etc, just so we didn't feel like clubbers. This is broken. Update 2: the matchmaker has clearly started to improve for squad play. Running with the clan on the 20th we were matched against full or nearly full squads just 30% of the time. Yesterday (the 22nd) that had nearly doubled to 58%. The average quality of the opponents was much improved as well. We were winning so quickly and easily before that my average damage tanked to less than 500k, numbers that I can't even remember seeing. As of yesterday that rebounded to just under 600- still not normal, but much closer. So overall the quality of squad games does appear to be improving, hopefully signs of the matchmaker (or players) shaking out. It still seems less good than before the changes, but if it continues to improve at this rate I think it'll pass the old matchmaker's ability to provide good competition shortly. This from a Top tier, maxed hanger, squad play perspective. I'll need to return to solo play to see it that's also evolving in a positive direction. One other note- we're seeing lots of former clubbing clans trying out shiny new former gold tier hardware. They're getting better with the new bots, which may be part of the reason we're seeing the competition improve...

I appreciate you sticking with it and getting back to us. The fact that you are a well known player in a well known clan is nice because many folk are saying different things and it is hard for the average person to know what to believe. It has been obvious that you don't sugarcoat things, so I take what you say as weighing a bit on the "worth listening to" side of the scale. Also, if what you said about known clubbing clans is true, and they aren't tanking stats in some adolescent show of revenge for taking away their clubbing, but actually playing with bots that fit their skill levels, then this is doing exactly what it was intended to. *I am not commenting anymore about the money aspect of this change... Just the effect we see as players in the matches.

Well I have finally come to the conclusion that the old tier system is dead and buried. No more keeping multiple hangars to offer a diversion from high gold. So be it, that's where I'll play.
Old man goes over to iOS platform to sell his beloved lvl 1 Cossacks with lvl 1 gau's-t's. Good-bye little boa's, vityaz's and golem's. I'll miss you.
Old man rambles off and is heard saying, " a lvl 12 Cossack with a lvl 12 weapon? Watch out gold tier here comes one!"

Don't give up complete hope....I'm holding out for the Pixo customized matches to be out sometime in the future (whenever that is). I will continue to slog through high powered matches and have the fun I can have and hope that customized matches may allow me to pull bots out to compete with other like minded pilots. Cheers!

But hanger strength is still part of the equation, and currently heavily masked by all the soring noise in the low/mid end of the spectrum. When the MM settles down and it does from the top down, you'll find having different hangers to play a different relative "tiers" is something you'll still be able to do. Now, they won't be the tiers of old, and your Elo or skill might bump your opposition up a bit, say Bots or Weapons +1, but playing as the low levels will still be viable. The big problem right now is that while sorting Low/Med Hanger + Established Elo = Strong Hanger + Default/Unestablished Elo. There is so much noise and mismatching going on below what was Gold that it is hard to see any rhyme or reason, bit is is happening and creeping from the top down. Every day that goes by the system starts to stabilize and soon enough the lower levels will make a lot more sense.

Ah, I could never sell my little beauties. They might rust from sitting around, but I will spray them down with WD-40 in hopes that I can play them again. Just a little frustration coming through.
Especially after some battles with my heavies today. Going against top clans with a bunch of random's like me never bodes well for a good finish.
Seems that I find out who hasn't played enough matches to settle in. Got teamed up with a lot of lower level players today with low level bots and weapons. The fields were littered with my bots. But as always, I had kills, beacons and caused damage, just not very many wins.
Still had fun, just seemed a little subdued today.
Old man is smiling while wandering away and says, "This too will pass, and the sun will come up tomorrow and a gentle breeze will grace me with a kiss of hope."
Thanks for advice, appreciate it boomsplat and zman.

Sharing experiences (also firdt forum post here), from Android:
Yesterday at first I went lower and lower, down to L4/5 hangar, and still got matched up with heavies, WSP bots etc. Not very fun, but I did it to find out if going low helps, so that's fine. I still of course played every match to my full ability, I'm no quitter even when outclassed in a random team of strangers (and I didn't notice too many quitters anyway, which makes me glad).
So I switched to about H6/5.5 / M5/7 hangar with some good weapons. And suddenly everything was pretty good again. Some losses, some 10 Au victories. When losing, I often found myself carrying my platoon, sometimes even getting most kills, damage and beacons of entire battle, which is kinda satisfying even if there is no actual reward for it on losing side.
And now I can freely use my Thunder Carnage, which I am really falling in love with: sneaking, waiting for opportunity, Rushing in for a surprise kill (especially Stalkers un-stealthing) or to support a teammate, then retreating to recharge and reload. Much like Thunder Schutze before, only twice as fun. I'd like to think there is now more sudden fear and less slowly dawning surprise in my targets, and circling knife fight part generally doesn't happen (because someone is dead too fast), which suits me just fine.
Before, if I put Carnage to my hangar, I always ended up matched against much higher level weapons and bots, and it would have taken me a month at least to get my own bots and weapons to competitive levels (not using Au for upgrades). So at the moment I am really happy about the MM change! If things stay this way, great! Fingers crossed...
Anyway, a suggestion for those who feel they are badly matched: try to find a bot setup that gives you decent matches! Experiment! Just as an example, bying a Leo if you don't have one yet (it has upgraded 155k health now!) and equipping it with you Gep weapons+Thunder is pretty cheap (if you are in a stage where you have many geps, 1.6M Ag should be no big deal), and it lets you see where it puts you in matches.

This ?poo-poo? must have just hit android... because I can't even do ?poo-poo? with ENTIRELY lv1 destriers with ALL LV1 weapons. At least before, I knew that if I used a golem, even with lowest level kwk and molot/punisher - I'd see vastly stronger opponents. Now... it don't ?firetruck?ing matter what I do: I'm going to be punished because I'm a newb that happens to have a decent win rate and damage. It doesn't ?firetruck?ing matter that I have absolutely not a damn chance in hell of competing in the old silver or gold tier... I'm getting stuck in ?firetruck?ing high gold and it don't matter one 「gosh darn 」 bit what I do.
I say ?firetruck? that ?poo-poo?. What I know to be the 'old' matchmaking DID infact take my win rate and avg dmg into consideration, while still considering my bot and weapon levels. I literally couldn't even run one pinata because those start at lv5. I AM A SEAL... and it ain't seal clubbing if I have to run lv4 or less bots and stick to molots and punishers just to not get stuck in a match with thunders golems vitz or mby even leo grif tash rhino and all that bull「dookie」 when I haven't even been playing for a full month yet! Can't even use the couple of magnums that I've managed to scrounge because same 「dookie」 happens - I get put in matches with people that have far greater 「dookie」 than anyone could muster. Unless said "anyone" happens to spend a LOT of cash to get gold just for buying silver and speeding up upgrades. This new MM that takes zero consideration of bot and weapon levels is the bull「dookie」 that will keep new people from coming into the game. I had quite a high win rate coming off my first few matches... and that was when my hangar was ENTIRELY 「fluffernutter」ING DESTRIERS.. hadn't even upgraded any weapons yet! What the 「fluffernutter」 does 「slow」 「bum-bum」 pixonic think is going to happen when people like myself that can actually shoot 「dookie」 come off those first few matches and run into god damn 12&12 bots that they don't have a candle's chance in hell of killing?!
?firetruck? this bull?poo-poo? of being punished simply for having a good win rate. I'm ?firetruck?ing out if they don't change this ?poo-poo? back to how it was when I started and one way or another I will have a full 「gosh darn 」 refund for every cent I spent.
There are FAR better games, and developers, out there - that don't pull absolute bull?poo-poo? like this. This ?firetruck?ing game has been around for YEARS, and just now they're pulling this bull?poo-poo? like they STILL DON'T HAVE A GOD DAMN CLUE? ?firetruck? this ?poo-poo?.

I submitted my feedback to Pixonic regarding the new MM. I encourage everyone to do the same and express your grievances... or glee. Everyone's feedback is important. support@wwrpixonic.zendesk.com Eugene (Pixonic) Jan 24, 11:11 AST With matchmaking changes introduced lately we intend to ensure a more viable system for all players. At the moment, for the system is being tested we are gathering data, statistics and any feedback and we will be sure to pass yours along to the developers. We'd like to assure you that these improvements are aimed at bringing a major competitive part into War Robots and eliminating prior problems to provide better experience. Right now you could continue using your main hangar roster for participating in battles. The improvements will definitely be covered on our social media pages once it's up and running: www.facebook.com/walking.war.robotsThanks again for your understanding. Best regards, Eugene. When you deliberately use low level bots with high level weapons (that other players would not be able to obtain) to play in lower levels where you have an unfair advantage against your enemy. Good examples are 4 / 9 - 12 Mag / Aphid / Pinata Gepards, 1 / 8 Mag / Aphid / Pinata Gepards, and 4 / 9 Boa Thunder Taran / Orkan.
so you know this is the definition of a seal clubber. I doubt your lvl 1 des's fit these specs.
And you are quite right that when no new players join, the game will die.
If I offended you, I'm sorry.
It's just the way you phrased your rant. Brought a smile to me. Sorry that you made me smile.
Thanks to darkangel12s for definition from seal clubbing thread.
iOS went through this last week and is still going through it. Android started for me yesterday, so I already had an inkling of what it was going to be like. Since I play both platforms.
I'm sure you were shocked as I was when I loaded my lvl 1 Cossacks with lvl 1 gau-t's and came face to face with an angry rhino last week.
It will pass in time when it all settles in and more players find their balanced positions, until then hold on tight and good battles.
Old man is still smiling and has a kind thought for the man with a rant.

Much to the annoyance of my super awesome clan (seriously, they are super awesome) the first thing I did when I heard how the new MM was hitting poor iPhone users was bust out my very Last Stand Destrier and Shutze hangar. Counter-intuitive to be sure, but game play has been a blast! Getting to take on plenty of high level bots, but spared from dealing with 12/12 top tier hangars. I will be slowly improving the bot content of my hangars week by week (next week adds....COSSACKS!) while simultaneously continuing to level up my bots and weapons (priority is still weapons, but bot leveling has a new emphasis with the wild MM). Hangar score still affects MM, just nobody is sure to what extent.

Played a whole bunch of solo matches last night on Android. Maybe I was lucky, but it seemed about the same level of difficulty. Running 6/8 heavies and 7/8 meds like I mostly do. Opponents ranged from 6/5 to 8/10 or so. Many matches were close, some were not so much, but every match lasted quite a long time. Win rate stayed steady at around 66% but eventually dropped to around 60% (although maybe that was because I was getting sleepy).
But that's just soloing. @goatreaper tells me that MM hasn't been kind to two-man squads, although I've yet to try any squad at this point.

Yep, I discovered a shelf in the MM, essentially at 1/1 Lifts I was facing Top Tier opponents, but once I equipped a Heavy 6/6 Hanger I was facing similar Hanger Strength + Elo matches. Of course there still was a lot of Boise with the turbulentt sorting, but it was a stark difference. If you're level 30, L1/1 is a no go, but H6/6 works properly. Not sure where the shelf is, but man it's there. Currently doing a bit more testing to figure it out.

Squads seem alright to me, too. Ran some 3-5 man squads. Sometimes we face 10/12s and 11/11s, but even then we usually gave them a fight, and then some matches that were solid wins but not walkovers. Don't know if I've just been lucking out, but it seems to be working as intended.

Well I guess that's one way to say you are dissatisfied with the new matchmaking system. Old man laughs hysterically. Needed that. Thank-you. Go ?firetruck? yourself. I haven't even been in this game for a month. And quite frankly... I already know of several other games that have far less ?special?ed developers AND old farts like yourself - all of which are far better games to spend my time and money on. So before you respond in such a fashion to another post by someone like myself that's brand new to this game - keep in mind you old ?firetruck?s that have been ?female dog?ing for change, are killing the very thing you very much enjoy: this game. Without new blood like myself ALL GAMES DIE. You'd love to sit back and point your "old" finger at me like I'm one of the "seal clubbers"... the reality of the situation is I AM A SEAL. A smart one. Someone's edgy! Dude.. eat a snickers. You're not you when you're hungry

In squad play we're seeing 20% decent matches, 20% one sided but not blowouts. That leaves 60% that end in spawn raids like the old days. Overall that's still much less competitive- in 4 out of 5 matches the outcome is known before the first bot is dropped, and only 1 in 10 is really close. It's getting repetitive, and certainly much less fun to play with the squad in Top. Currently:

Things have finally improved!!! I'm only facing 10/10 Heavies instead of 12/12's.

Old man is smiling while wandering away and says, "This too will pass, and the sun will come up tomorrow and a gentle breeze will grace me with a kiss of hope." Thanks for advice, appreciate it boomsplat and zman. Cosmoline. Dip your little beauties in cosmoline. Things treated with cosmo stay preserved a looooooooong time. Only problem is getting the cosmo *out* when you're done warehousing your precious and want to use it again. Personally I miss the tiers and the gameplay variety, but as far as it goes I'm getting more even matches with my Gold hangar now than I did before (win rate was too high).

Not sure where the shelf is, but man it's there. Currently doing a bit more testing to figure it out. Pretty much what I've observed so far. Doesn't matter what hanger I run, I'm consistently facing 8/10 M/H hangars. Fewer 12/12 than before so I seem to have settled a bit. But my L/M hangars get shredded by Plasma Griffins, Leos, and shield bots. I can only be competitive if I use my Heavies as well. Last night I lost 10 in a row using my Gep/Cossack/Golem/Boa lineup, but once I switched to Griffin, Lance, Leo, and Galahad with essentially the same weapons I won 3 out of 5 (solo play). Only light setup that seems to add any value is aphid Gep since I don't have to be in LOS. I used to have a bit of fun by switching up to 5 x 1/5 Thunder Schutzes once in a while, but looks like those days are gone.

My geps are still idling - I rotate them in carrying aphids for now in my H6/9 line up just to keep some miles on them and they remind me of why I love piloting them (except when that triple treb lights up my world - then I scurry for my shield bots). I'm holding out some hope for the custom match option - if Pixo can allow us custom matches, objectives and squads, then you can run whatever bots and weps you want with willing competition. Now I might be as old as dangit before it happens but I can still have my wishes and dreams. I know as soon as I sell them, Pixo will make the announcement that custom matches are launching so it is a Catch 22 kind of thing.

I can't possible be this skilled. There is no way in hell that I could be that much better than everybody else. Something else has got to be happening here, or I'm somehow cheating without realizing it.
Android account, prior to the MM change, mid Gold with 3x H6/8.5 & 2x M10/10. New MM hits, discovered my H6 bots are a hidden liability. Swapped 2 of 3 heavies out with a Stalker8 and a Fujin9. Replaced all weapons with highest levels, about 9.2 avg for new hangar of 4x M9.5/9.5 & H6/8.5 (Gekko Leo).
I'm still kicking serious arse very consistently. You do NOT need a full hanger of maxed Heavy bots. You DO need some real skills.

I'm pleasantly surprised in Android also. Yeah, I seen a crazy match up here or there, but overall it has been consistent today and yesterday after I changed my lineup to the low gold tier of bots
My win rate hasn't jumped dramatically or gone done dramatically as it has on the iOS platform ( which now on iOS is about 32%, but I've been seeing a lot of top clans, that b4 the change they usually kicked my butt, are doing the same thing after the change. So that's on me. Either join a strong clan to compete with them or suffer. I chose suffer.) My win % is holding at 72, kills and damage are also consistent. The battles seem longer, which is no biggie.
In Android I have been running consistently all lvl 7 bots: rhino, 2 griffins, Leo and boa. With all lvl 9 weapons: 2 orks, 2 ECC's, the rest magnums and Taran's occasionally throwing in a Lvl 9 stalker to mix things up a bit in my play and give me some speed. But not to long, I love seeing my boa wiggle his butt, with those stubby leg's as he walks over a destroyed bot.
Old man is happy he read about emulator and joy2key on wikia war robot site, or he would have no ideal they existed or how to install or where to get them.

Ok, so I don't want to give the impression that's it's all been sunshine and roses for me. On both my iOS and Android account, I have had some horrifying matchups since the new MMS dropped. It's just not anywhere near as bad to me as many have reported. I'm not trying to take away from those other reports, I'm just trying to share that there ARE positive experiences with the new matchmaker. Some minor corrections for my Android account: I hate the play style that Stalkers force me to use, so he got mothballed (again). M10/10 Thunder Carny, M10/10 Plasmahad, M10/9 TPP Golem (Punisher Mk2 for the lulz, surprisingly still effective), M9/9 Taran Fujin, and finally taking up last in effective damage but tops on area denial and general trolling, my H6/8 Gekko/Zeus Leo (AKA The Hippie Disco Ball). I am being matched up with H10/10 hangers on a regular basis and still maintaining a > 70% win percentage. My biggest gripes are that mid-range rockets and missiles are the new overwhelming meta setups, and squadding is still chaotic to say the least. None of this is unexpected nor disappointing to me, but rather just another exercise in patience. Finally, from one old oldbie to a new oldbie, the online tradition is to encapsulate your character's actions in asterisks, like so: *Lilith enjoyed the old one's stories and perspective, but did not understand his predilection for referring to himself in the 3rd person perspective* Love ya "old man"
