warrobots.net/en/2017/10/02/3100/Too little too late in my opinion. What are your thoughts? EDIT: This is probably not the "big news" or the "official statement", which according to moderator SuperHero is supposed to come next week. The linked article is (as of this writing) the most recent post on the official WarRobots blog and it was published on October 2nd.

Ah the cover-ups and the excuses. I'm interested in seeing what bull「dookie」 Pixonic is going to give us next. It doesn't take a 8yr old to know that selling $300 OP bots isn't the intent of turning a game to P2W.

Does this mean what I think it does???
Why do I see this as like a South Park episode where by trying to fix something, they are constantly coming at it from the wrong angles and thereby making it way, way worse?

I kinda felt sorry for the presenter. I mean she's got to be a cog in that company. Imagine walking in to work and finding today's job description is to get up in front of the internet and spin like a top. Nothing says conviction like when her speech goes all halting as she tries to say Black-market is fine and working as intended then thinks better of it and goes for a "monitoring drop rates" angle.

it's a crafted damage limitation message. give everyone a chance to get a superchest ? don't make me laugh! make up robots with components ...? when every now and then you win .05% of one of 6 different items ? my sides are splitting
they have 「fluffernutter」ed up royally and are trying to backpedal ... I hope they do enough to save the game but I can't see it right now
we had the exact same "we hear you" regarding matchmaking... did they really hear us?

Thanks for posting this! I'm still on the fence about leaving as there still is a fair bit to enjoy about this game. Its good to see them responding to player concerns and hopefully a free flowing mechanism can be established. Currently, there are no other apps that are near the level of satiety I get from War Robots so I think I'll wait and see how this goes. Pricing (time, RM, in-game resources) will weigh heavily on future discussions with Pix and I've still got my fingers crossed that they will address this.
I also hope they: Find a way for ios and android to play together. Engage with the community to source bot/weapon designs. Provide a play for discount mechanism for all purchases.

Meh, I've messed up before. I've appreciated the chance to live it down and make it right. I've also had some refuse to let me make amends, and that's not a good time. Kinda made me not want to make amends anymore. I'll see if their walk matches their talk. Meanwhile I'll be killing reds with a pair of Orkan Rogatkas.
Rogatka - the original dash bot.

At least they know there is a problem. They must of been flooded with angry emails. I even sent one and changed my app review. I normally never bother with protesting, but the price gouging didn't sit well with me.

….and they are not honest even now and haven’t really acknowledged the extent of the issues ( IMO). Reasons as follow:
1. “You have spoken, loud and clear, and we have heard you. We are feeding your comments back to the Marketing and Dev Team.” Misleading statement intended to buy time. I just cannot accept that a relatively small company like pixonic has such large, rigid and well developed internal business divisions that the marketing department is not heavily involved in such press releases and information gathering. If someone has spoken loud and clear than you either do something about it or put a spin on it. Its strategy changing time for management.
2. “The balance changes were deliberately minor so as not to upset the meta too much whilst still allowing us to monitor the impact it may or may not have. This is something we intend to do continually to ensure that the game remains competitive for everyone”. – where is the balanced change to the haechi which has upset the meta? Maybe they should have said “the partial balance changes….” And what does this say about the major balance changes during the past which has upset the meta (people upgrading X then Y then Z…. before competing any upgrades)? The balance change seems to be heading in the same weapons dominated direction again. IMO they are still perusing that strategy but for now they’ve slowed down to appease angry players.
3. COMPONENETS section “Please stay tuned!” – sure… how long for? What will be the outcome in real terms? This statement is about trust. The trust that they have recently destroyed for most people.
4. MATCHMAKING – I have this feeling that something is not right about the statement. If you don’t have enough people playing no matchmaking algorithm is going to help. Should the MM be tweakable to such extent than the previous claim in reference to “not enough players” was not entirely correct. That TRUST thing again. Its like the Haechi thing. We know its OP but will not nerf it for the time being. We know the MM is unbalanced but we will leave it as is for a while.
5. BLACK MARKET. a. As per wildboar re the “super chest”. To get a super chest through normal play is next to impossible. Maybe account sharing people can do it. b. Not bothering further with this section. Pix response is just rubbish. It’s a casino.
6. P2W or F2P a. “Now to what is perhaps the most controversial issue plaguing the game currently”. – it is not controversial, it is a fact. Sad thing is that Pix did not acknowledge the current status. By saying it is controversial it would be reasonable to assume they do not think it is P2W. b. “We would like to state for the record that turning out game into PayToWin has never been the intention and we are sorry if some of our actions were perceived as steps in that direction”. – not perceived nor steps in that direction. It is P2W now. Pix has completed the journey into P2W (but it could go further). they are apologising for people perceiving it as P2W and not whether it is or it isnt pay to win. huge difference. c. And the last paragraph is about appealing to trust again. This section is important. So in summary: they did not acknowledge it is P2W. by using the term “contrevarsy” Pix is stating that they do not believe it is P2W. They apologised if some “perceived” Pix’s actions as a move in that direction. And what they committed to is to providing clarity in the future about their decisions in order to make people understand that a particular decision is not intended to move into P2W.
This was a carefully crafted response. I would say they have clearly signalled their intent
• They have acknowledged the voices of the hordes of unhappy players • They are willing to compromise to small extent on some aspects • P2W is here to stay as they do not believe it is P2W now nor do they believe their recent changes moved the game towards P2W (ohhh boy) • Casino is here to stay along with outrageous prices • They seem to be trying to buy time. Most likely the increased revenue justifies some people leaving as long as the player base is not depleted to dangerous levels • Negative feedback seems to be forcing their hand to some extent

What a bunch of vapid platitudes. They've been digging this hole for MONTHS and have ignored the negative feedback all along. The changes that have been made are very obviously carefully structured to maximize their whaling revenues. I don't believe for a moment that they are going to back away from that. I don't think they really care if they loose a bunch of current players, as long as they don't poison the well on their way out. I'm sure they believe they can replace disgruntled players with new ones who don't know any better as long as the vets don't clue them in. The only value non-spending maxed players have lies in their use as bludgeons to beat lower level players into spending on upgrades anyway. It is in their best interest to have fewer, higher spending players, so if they scare away a bunch of non-payers it's a net gain as it takes load off the servers and delays any additions/upgrades that may be needed to handle increased traffic. We've heard this sort of thing from them before and yet here we sit with a MM that's worse than ever and prices creeping into the stratosphere. Their credibility not to mention their integrity is shot... I doubt this little bit of propaganda will buy them much until they actually follow through on some of their promises.

Oh my god so much ?firetruck?ing whining in these threads. Literally this entire week everyone has been ?female dog?ing about how Pixonic hasn't been doing anything to address the issues and then they come out and say "Ok wow holy ?poo-poo? you guys are pissed ok yes we are working to fix this" and you people expect them to fix it in like a day. I swear to ?firetruck?ing god, the internet is ruining people; have just a tiny bit of patience and let them work it out. Obviously the fact that everyone in this thread took the time to reply in it means you haven't decided to drop the game and all of your bloody whining is just that, bloody whining.
Yes, they've ?firetruck?ed their own game pretty hard, and if they don't fix it, it will probably fail. If it does, so be it, those are the consequences of their terrible management and utterly inept game balancing. But so what? Everyone in this thread is acting like they're entitled to this game. It's an iPad game you 「fake pee place」s, calm your ?firetruck?ing 「huge tracts of land」.

Your assessment is fair, but I gave him a like anyway. He has a valid point. All this call to action, yadda yadda, and yet people still want to play the game. If it's so awful, just quit. I may quit soon. Still enjoying some games, although more are turning into a dashbot count than I would like. We wanted to get a message to Pixonic. They got the message. If they don't respond to our liking, we should stop playing their game. Could check back in a month and see if anything is better. At this point if you don't believe they might fix it, why still be here? mrhuggablebubbles may not have made the point as eloquently as Denis Leary because he's no dethhilt. NSFW:

It's an iPad game you 「fake pee place」s, calm your ?firetruck?ing 「huge tracts of land」. There isnât much whining on these threads compared to what is elsewhere. As examples, on face book, the 90K or so negative feedback left on Google play and countless of in game complaints that we donât see but has obviously overwhelmed their support because they cant even respond. And IOS is probably still to come. I would say the 3.2 update scared a lot of passionate people who care about the game. Thousands and perhaps in excess of 100,000 are fighting to be heard and hope that Pixonic listens so that the game survives. Not sure if there is much wrong with that. The response is astonishingly large. Huge! Most likely the biggest ever. At the end of the day you always have the option to ignore these threads. There is no need to get involved and provide advise in the above manner. This subject will fade away with time either way. I think the fading will happen faster than you think.

But for the complaints Pixonic would not have responded and likely that the next new bot would have blown up everything on the map (including the map) and cost $1000.

Meh, more bs from pix. Personally i dont give a damn what they say, until i SEE good changes that point in a good direction, it will all continue to be a bunch of mumbo jumbo blah blah blah POOP.
Also, they forgot to include merging all the platforms on the list! Android players want to play against ios!

Shhhh.... the grown-ups are talking. Most certainly not this. We may be middle-aged, but when we are having serious discussions about the future direction of our favorite video game, let's not pretend to be acting like grownups. My grandfather was in Normandy on D-Day. They had some grownup stuff to talk about over there at the time. We may be adults in many things we do - running a business, rebuilding after a hurricane, making our contribution at work, trying to come up with good ways to reduce gun violence, standing up for the rights of others - but don't count War Robots among them. This is something we still like doing because, like our children, we like to relax and have fun. We like discussing it to death. It's not a particularly adult or important hobby. It's not just for grownups, and it's not serious business by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not saying we shouldn't be playing War Robots. We can even get passionate about it, like our favorite sports team. But it's a game. And when we forget that, we are not being grownups.

While there are certainly some childish behaviors to be found among the posts here, and while at it's most simplistic it is about a game, there are underlying issues that are most certainly serious. We are talking about a company whose leadership not only KNOWINGLY exploits people with mental illnesses, but also puts a great deal of time and energy into exploiting them more effectively. They KNOW there are people who are unable to stop themselves from maxing out their credit cards and/or buying bots instead of food. Now if that isn't a grown-up topic, kindly explain to me what you would call it.

Perhaps a metaphor is appropriate at times..... But seriously, I get that everyone is really annoyed but for me I have way too many other things going on and it puts War Robots way down on the priorities list: I got bills, I teach autistic kids in a school, I have to fix stuff on my car, I run a martial arts club, my baby daughter, mum in hospital for a heart op, etc etc! I've got to redecorate the bathroom before I start fussing over ridiculous bot prices. I'm not trying to dismiss anyone's frustration over the changes as those pilots have probably been my team mates over the last 18 months of play but, overall, I personally have too much other stuff to do than to spend time getting mad about a really badly designed marketing and business strategy from a sales executive in Pixonic.

Let's admit that 90% of the discussion isn't about the exploitation of whales. It's about the whales being able to exploit us because they are willing to spend a seemingly absurd amount to beat us.
