Anyone else catch the FB post from Pix about the Aphids? They admit their recent buff made them OP so they're nerfing them again. It has to do with the accuracy. Pix states the nerf "will require paying a bit more attention to the environment and timing to make sure all the missiles hit..."

So basically, they will do the same amount of damage and people will just have to adjust their way of using them.... Not sure why so many people have complained about it....

Also, I think much of the problem with the Aphids has less to do with their power level and more to do with the matchmaking system allowing such high imbalances. I covered this on the blog, but if weapon levels were held in check- or mattered more- you'd see less outrage over some of the usual suspects like Aphids and Mags.

C&P for reference: War Robots Yesterday at 5:39am · We have some news to share. As you remember, we have recently upgraded Aphids to make them more competitive, based on your feedback and our calculations. Instead of buffing the damage directly we adjusted its hit precision. However, this change had the effect way stronger than we initially expected. It soon became evident that the buff invalidated other light weapons, and in order to give those a chance to shine again while still keeping Aphids competitive and fun to use we decided to slightly adjust Aphids' precision in the update 2.5. It will remain a powerful weapon with its undeniable strengths but will require paying a bit more attention to the environment and timing to make sure all the missiles hit their target. The main purpose of this and similar changes is keeping the gameplay diverse, fun and fair for all players with all their diverse preferences. Please visit the test server for the upcoming weekend session and experience the change first-hand. We're looking forward to your feedback! War Robots team

So basically you can dodge them going forward/backward as well as strafing left/right. Got it

I find with Lancelots it's better to walk backward and with Griffins and Galahads it's better to walk sideways.

With a Rhino, as long as you are facing toward the aphids, if you come to a full stop with your shield up, it will absorb a lot of the aphids

Bunch of crap. They never claim they will all hit, they are more line of sight. Same old bull. They did the same thing to the Golem. People dont get it, not all weapons are equal. Amazing how players work with the developer to take away from the game.

"The main purpose of this and similar changes is keeping the gameplay diverse, fun and fair for all players with all their diverse preferences. " Happy with the adjustment or not, I think this objective is always correct. So let's wait and see the result before commenting.

The purpose of a forum is to comment, so don't tell people not to, or when to!

It's already balanced the way it is. It is really a problem at lower tiers but as ypu go higher you will notice that you are a target once they see you lobbing those missiles.

LOL! Welcome to the forums! In case nobody noticed this trend, forums are a great place to voice complaints and concerns about proposed changes. So much so that the developers appreciated the community that was built here enough to lurk on our conversations, and eventually include us in a more trusted relationship. This is a good thing, never stop discussing.

I don't think the nerf is large having just toyed with them on the test server, IMO they be just about right. I think the concerns of being over nerfed back towards where they used to be was an knee jerk reaction.
I didn't play enough to know for sure, but I think they'll be ok. Anyone else given them a go and have a similar/different opinion?

It doesn't need a big change, I think they are OP since the guidance update. Two or three maxed aphid pattons with knife fighting support can shut down PP or DC. I have been there many times, just last night me in a maxed aphid/ork rhino and one aphid patton scored 1mil dam each and shut down the basin side of PP long enough to win on beacons. In top tier, in the hands of a pro,.. aphids are OP.

Its no problem at the lower tiers. It really starts to be cancer in high silver + High Sliver is probably the most disastrous tier with EE domination, because the heavy bots are very slow there.

And dedicated Aphid chuckers use lv 10× aphids there? Gotta agree with Dredd, if MM didn't allow manipulation via weapon vs bot levels, the outrage would stop. Most low-level pilots only see Aphids on 4/9-4/12 geps, and the highest levels of play are crawling with heavy bots with big hitboxes(which is what Aphids are meant to hurt most). Galahad is the fastest medium bot, why do you think the devs made it almost as large as the Griffin?

The Aphid's hitbox is about the size of a Boa's body

Devs need to stop trying to accommodate every call to buff weapons. The recent aphid buff has caused such a disruption. Lancelots and Rhino shelved: too big and slow. I own 4 aphids and I know how easy it is to rack up damage simply by hiding, reloading, chucking, repeat. All non-LOS weapons need to be kept as an annoyance but incurring relatively low damage (like hydras and spirals).
I used to disagree with the premise that aphids force knife fighters to move out to mid range. But I was clearly wrong. It's already happening. In fact, in addition to my trident fury, I'm adding an RDB and shelving my DB Grif. It's either that or I start running geps, stalkers, and pattons in gold and equip them all with aphids.
Suddenly, maps like Springfield are a breath of fresh air. All the other tighter maps are an aphid chuck-fest.

I finally succumbed to the aphid-chuck fest & bought my 2nd to run on db Griffin. Still not sure how much I like it, but cant deny the damage. I run 6/8-9 heavys, 1 Rhino, at that level they get torn up by aphid geps & pattons.

Ive played a few games and noticed that aphids will often go thru walls. The new MM system makes it so im up against pattons with lvl 10-12 aphids, and i cant tell that they were nerfed, they seem as powerful as before or more so since i have lvl 6-8 weapons and im facing lvl 10-12 weapons. They need to make all homing missiles be like how at spirals were in the beginning of the game when we were level 1 with lvl 1 weapons. They should be annoying but not significantly damaging.
