I agree piginapoke, Patton Aphid is my preferred platform for those nasty buggers. Koalabear do you know all the ways to avoid those things?

I agree piginapoke , Patton Aphid is my preferred platform for those nasty buggers. Koalabear do you know all the ways to avoid those things? If the main strategy for dealing with them is charging hell bent at the source in a kamikaze charge, then I for one, am all over it. If if there are alternative strategies however I certainly could do with some enlightenment.

You do not need to destroy a target in one go. Take your time as with a slow bot you need to have eyes like a bluebottle and be aware of not being in a hostile's range

No doubt about it that these are deadly in certain situations. My approach is to accept I'm gonna take a hit but keep the damage to a minimum and then (assuming you don't have hydras or 500m+ weaps: 1) Listen out for that whoosh so you know one's out there. 2) Move in from out of his 350m range straight after he's fired, 3) Be ready for his 2nd salvo, in an agile bot you can avoid 90% to 100% of it by moving sideways. If you're in Griffin and use the jump, make sure you can still finish him after the jump so be careful where you jump.

I agree piginapoke , Patton Aphid is my preferred platform for those nasty buggers. Koalabear do you know all the ways to avoid those things? My usual method to is bring up my shield on my Galahad and chuck a couple of aphids back. Today, I just got trashed by a quad aphid Patton in 2 salvos, even with my shield up! I don't get it. The guy had a custom paint job on his Patton, so maybe his aphids were maxed. I got mad and tried to rush him. Between him and his team mates, and the location where he was camping, took me all the way to my last bot before I nailed him. Everyone else on my team seemed to be ignoring him and I was the only one going after him. Moral of the story, don't charge an aphid Patton, especially on PP and hes dug in with low buildings around him. You can't hit him even with rockets and he just keeps chucking 4 aphids over at you. I think, like with any other tough opponent, it's gotta be a team effort. My Rogatka finally nailed him cause I circled to the side while he was firing his aphids at my team, and I got lucky and caught him in a reload cycle. Of course, I was in the middle of occupied territory by this point and got trashed 5 seconds later. In hindsight, I should have waited him out. My Galahad has 2 aphids on the right side. I should have stayed behind cover and just kept lobbing aphids back at him. With my shield to the side, I actually have the speed advantage to pop out and pop back into cover, whereas when he moves to fire, he's vulnerable. If I had a Stalker, I suppose I could have zipped in and gave him a face full of Pinatas - which is what I did in my Gareth, but he was well placed with at least 2 other bots covering him.

Well, the Galahad shield only really protects if you back up as they hit... otherwise they hit the top of your head instead of impacting directly on the shield, due to their flight pattern. If you move backwards after they start their downward turn it is likely that you will change the angle such that they hit your shield instead. Otherwise, with the shield disengaged, the way that any bot that is fast enough avoids them, with reliability, is to sidestep. IF they shoot at you and you are strafing to one side or are just moving in a perpendicular direction, you will avoid most of the salvo. When I am in an aphid bot that is engaging another aphid bot, side to side movement is essential. CONSTANT movement. Never stop. Maybe a figure 8 pattern would work if you don't have cover to stop and switch directions behind... but you HAVE to stay aware, no matter what. An Aphid Gep that knows what it is doing is a hard target to kill with other aphids. Pattons aren't bad at it, either... but they are more likely to take a little damage on most salvos.

Kill fire with fire
Get a jesse, and chuck em aphids!
Ok,IF you already have one I mean.(not recommended for now cuz of the crazy price tag )
And if you can't get to him, kill his team instead.

I run an Aphid Gepard now. In an Aphid battle with a quad aphid Patton, I actually have the advantage even though I'm outgunned. Running sideways in a fast bot means that you hardly get hit by aphids. Then, when your aphids reload, turn on a dime, and unleash 3 back at him.
