Great and insightful post. can i ask why your 'destroyed' average (3.5) is low with this strategy when you are naiking 2-3 bots for each Boa? doesnt quite make sense for me That's a great question, and not something I'd noticed myself. I suspect it's just because I'm not getting the final shot off but rather they're retreating and getting nailed by teammates. I frequently hold off just short on the Orkans to try and just barely kill the Red rather than wasting more rockets than necessary. I suspect I'm shorting the damage more than necessary and not noticing that the Red runs rather than retaliating as I turn to the next target. As I've noted already, I rarely have an over abundance of ammo, so I'm always trying to optimize. If they were running away while still healthy, though, then my teammates wouldn't be capping and I wouldn't be winning.

I started trying it out - I'm getting caught in the open too much relying on my health. Time to start working cover more - or pole dancing. I guess I just need to get the Boas up to 4 so they are not so blasted slow. Hey yhondeh - why are your lights the same level mix as the mediums? Couldn't you run that gep 4/10 or more and still be in the same place MM wise? Also - nice video. Wow I really want the britbots. I take it that was a Galahad with the Taran/Mag combo. Love how you can shield and corner shoot with both weapons on the right side like that. That thing looks like an amazing robot.

Don't think I didn't see you spawn right in front of me last night.

Hey I missed you! I was probably running with my light hangar. I'm close to a midrange rocket golem but I may move to a 3 Boa hangar with Rocket Golem and .... I might have to put my Cossack away. Believe it or not I am often successful opening with a Cossack on Yamantau. Half of the time I can cap it quick then jump off and run for the red side beacon. When I get bumped up too high that doesn't work. Next time shoot me an invitation!

lephturn I didn't notice until game start, and you ran forward. Once your name contrasted with the snow I noticed and had to laugh. You ran your Cossack up to cap beacon then dropped right, needling with the Taran. I held the beacon for a good while, as the Boa can. Lost sight of you after that, until my third spawn. I picked my Gepard and ran down the open walkway to get their far beacon, and laughed again when I saw you 350m ahead of me in a Gepard with the same idea. You got hung up in a firefight, which let me zip past for the beacon, but the game ended before I reached it.

So, here's my credibility: I inched closer to your win rate. Love my Boas. They are my meat and potatoes. I lead with a Gep (doesn't matter which one) and then move to the Boas. I am not in a clan and have never squaded. I think I'm getting the hang of it. Edited for spelling.

I have to say, now that I have a level 4 (6/6) Thunder/punisher Boa, I've been having a blast taking and defending beacons. Slowish, but really durable.

I've got 2 lvl 3 boa's, and after seeing this post added a lvl 1 boa to the mix. I love this set up. My question is, i know the boa gets a nice speed increase, but at what level does this happen?

So, since it seemed to suit the tactics I've already been using, I've been playing around with brickfighting... I'll use either a Gepard or a Cossack for my beacon capper, and I've got a mid-long range Boa (still figuring out my best loud-out for that guy -- I don't use him often). Then, I've got two Thundorkan Boas and a Thuntaran Boa.
It's a blast... So to speak.
A few highlights:
On Shenzen, after the first rush for beacons, everybody gets so very focused on the center beacon. That gives me a good chance to take the side streets and saunter over behind the Reds' side beacon. I get right up behind them, and pop one or two of them before they even realize what's going on. In the ensuing chaos, I can usually get one or two more, before they run and hide. Then, it's take the beacon, and wait for the counter attack, as they all respawn.
Gepard Sealclubbers are fun... If I see one coming my way, I'll play a little ring-around-the-rosie to lure them in real close, then reverse right in front of them and unload with Thunder and Orkan. Poof! They're gone in an instant. They'll inevitably come back after me in revenge, which means I get to do it again. I had one Red pilot go through his entire 'clubbing hangar that way.
Once, I caught a Natasha off guard. I got in so close in front, that his guns were shooting past and around me... They couldn't angle in tight enough to hit me.
Once, I caught a Gareth off guard. I got in so close in front, that while my Orkan was going off point blank into his shield, my Thunder was pointed over the top of his shield blasting right in his face.
This really is a fun hangar to play with.

Being able to kick Gep clubbers in the ghoulies has been one of the real joys of this strategy.

My favorite thing to do with the Boas is to find a nice spot, sit behind a wall, scan the incoming reds for damage and distance, pick my path through them, step out and just start knocking them down. The best is chewing through 4-5 in row and stepping behind another wall. Then start scanning to see who's approaching and is next in line for a little Veen love.

Yeah, according to current MM writeups I think I can bring my weapon levels higher. I just wanted to keep all weapons at the same level so that I can put them on other bots. I am currently working on higher tier bots in the background and planning to put Aphids on a L6 or L7 Patton. Galahad is awesome. If you can corner shoot effectively, Galahad will last a long time. Even though it only has 3 weapons, it's survivability makes it extremely high damage bot.

I love the stories here... lol On Shenzen, I sat behind a building an picked a couple off. Had a Griffin head my way, I'd come out of hiding and shoot a few rounds off. By this time my HP was getting low. He stood right on the other side of the building i was hiding behind. I noticed another red arrow heading around me. So i turned around to find a Vityaz, in which i leveled him in 2 seconds. Turned back around to find the Griffin making a move and leveled him with a few shots from the orkan.

Finally.. These numbers you have on your levels look GREAT! I'm on my way to get my Orkan and Taran up to 8's. Then the Thunders up to 6's at least. Two of my Boa's are at level 3, which i plan to raise up to level 4's. One of my Boa's is a level 1. Which i kind of like for now, I start with him and then start going down the line. After all weapons are up to a nice level and the other bots are at a level 4, I'll bring that one up to speed with the rest.

With say 4/8 Boas, what level can Inrun a Gareth with it without bumping me too much? Gareth looks sweet.

I my just level the boa's up to 4's next, just for that speed increase I can understand that. If you already have some weapons at 7 then I would go ahead and get the bots to 4. ...but then you'll definitely need to get the weapons all leveled, like you said.

I've been experimenting on different setups the past couple of months and I think I finally found my sweet spot for the Boa and medium bots.
At L8 - 8/8 Thunder-Orkan with its 133K HP and 41Kph speed, the Boa truly shines. At this level, match making is (surprisingly) fair. I get matched with 8/7, 6/9, 7/9 heavies and 8/8 mediums. I still get the odd ball 12/12 < 50% win but rarely. Skill level is fairly equal and the matches can be quite challenging. What I truly like about this level is that I lose because I was outplayed and not outclassed.
I have only tried 8/8 heavy once but I know that the following setups are stable:
Medium L6-9s; L7-9s; L8-8s ( also works with Galahad 8 - 8/8/8 )
we all know that MM gets wonky at times so YMMV.

Ag mediums don't weigh the same so they can really dominate high silver once maxes for the tier. Heavies have to stay too low to have powerful enough weapons, and that keeps their hp on par with your higher leveled weapons, or if they are higher leveled bots their lower leveled weapons won't keep up with your higher leveled hp. It's great for gala, boa, Fujin, carny, etc.

Facing heavies of what level mix? That's my current hangar. Still playing high bronze, low silber. Sometimes a lone plasma griff. Nothing my Gareth can't handle. And if he can't, well my Boas can. Gepard as second beacon runner, Golem for mid range Gep-clubbing...

I'd like to try this since I have a lot of Boas left over from Christmas event. One question, why are your weapons 7/8? Is it because of MM or it just so happened? The reason I'm asking is that all my orkans/tarans/thunders are all level 8. Would it work, ie. still place me in the same tier you are in or do I have to level separate Thunders to lvl 7 and use lvl 8 tarans/orkans?
