Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but the attached pic is for what they call a Rockwell or top loader axle. You can see they're gear driven. They come in 2.5 and 5 ton. Thanks, those look insane, not exactly what I'm after though. Maybe I could be more descriptive... Imagine your typical onepiece diff. Picture some sort of vertical oval/elongated housing connected by its top end to where the wheel hub/brakes would be, which are connected to said housing by the lower end. The axis of your wheel centre is now offset and lower than the axis of your diff/axle. Or your diff centre higher than your wheel centre, if you will. Sorry I can't be more informative, I've only seen them once.

The axle is lifted with wyrm drives for each tire. Pics below. Is this the thing? They're a might piece for sure. High end and much wampum (money).

Next week I'll be driving a Ferrari 458, Aston Martin Vantage GT, and Porsche 991 GT3 on the Las Vegas speedway road course.

Well heck, might as well get in on this.
My first car was a 1959 Chevrolet Impala, white, with red interior. 4 door, 283 with a powerslide. Cost me 75 dollars, used my grass cutting and odd job money to buy it.
My favorite car I own is the one I own at the moment. Right now I have a 1984 BMW 325e, all the extras, pumpkin Orange with black trim and interior. 1995 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab. Tan in and out, with 270k miles on it., a 1999 10 year special anniversary Mits Eclipse. 5 speed and have turned it into a little hot-rod over the years. It's fun on the back roads of ole Kentuck. Finally a nice road card for trips. A 2000 BMW 528i, with just over 50k on the odometer. Just dress up items wheels a couple of other things. Improved K&N air intake system, and cat back exhaust for improved fuel mileage.
But really my favorite car and one I really regret getting rid of was a 1964 Ford Galaxie XL 500. 2 door convertible. Fire engine red with a black interior, bucket seat, electric windows, a mono fm radio. Black top. Keystone mags. 390 Thunderbird engine, 4 bbl, C6 automatic transmission. Dual exhaust. Straight pipes , no mufflers. It rumbled. And the neatest thing before you got out you could slide the whole steering wheel and shaft towards the center of the car. And it gave you extra room to get out and in of.
Anyway, that's what I got to say some other neat cars along the way, 65 Mustang. 57 Ford Fairlane, 66 Triumph Spitfire, couple VW bugs, and a lot of other daily non-descript just for transportation cars and trucks.
And my most favorite time in a car was ( see you all are already having dirty thoughts) when I went to the Richard Petty Driving School at Kentucky Speedway and drove a stock car around it for 30 laps in a simulated race with the other drivers taking the course. That was awesome.
And I've read the thread from the beginning a lot of nice cars mentioned also.

First car: 1975 AMC Pacer
3-speed manual 3.8L straight 6 Limited-slip differential
Lovingly restored by yours truly in the late 80s to drive while in high school. Changed it from all silver to two-tone silver/red. (Rustoleum red.)
They were not well made cars, but the drive train was nigh bulletproof and it was easy to repair. The limited slip diff made it fun to drive in the winter.

I had a 1985 Toyota pickup. Last year of the live axle suspension. Rancho 3" lift, 31x11.50 BFG Offroad TAs, and 4:11 gears front and back. Went everywhere. Grew up in a home with a Porsche 911s, Boxster(thought it sucked), and a 928s4(60 or 120, felt the same). Now, 2005 Lexus IS300 (2jzge-N/A engine from last Supra), K&N FIPK intake, HKS Dragger exhaust, adj. Cam gear(-4 timing ?special?ing), TRD front lip, Supra clutch/lt flywheel conversion, re-geared from 3.73 to 3.93 with a switch from an open diff to LSD. Top speed I have reached in it was 145mph. Photo converted to black and white, then a negative

(Special)ing? This site thought I was referring to the timing of my car, as adjusted by my adjustable timing gear, as a "special needs" individual(the politically incorrect word that starts with "r"). Unbelievable! Someone start reading a dictionary!

I've driven two cars with the Nash/AMC/Chrysler straight six. I'm convinced that there is no more durable engine. Yes, it has its issues, but it's an extraordinarily sturdy engine.

The straight 6 engine design has some nice characteristics. There's the old Z engine, BMWs engines, the 2jzge/2jzgte, and my favorite, the 4.0 liter Jeep engine.

I like Lexus. I have a gx470 and a 460. They are practical and family oriented. If my wife will let me someday I might trade in one of them for an rx f sport preferrably in sun burnt orange.

I wanna RC-F sooooooo bad! Wouldn't complain about an RC350. The new LC is pretty sweet too.

So easy to work on and tough as nails. Just wish they'd designed a better water pump for it. 150,000+ miles and I've gone through 3 water pumps.
