I don't have a shielded bot for treb fury, this is why I walk behind my team mates. Is Gareth or Galahad a better low gold purchase? I'm thinking to get one or the other when I have my last slot. I agree that the Galahad should be considered better overall... But don't discount the little guy... Nothing says lovin like popping up at their home beacon with a Gareth and causing havoc with their Long and Mid-Range support that hang back... thinking they are safe. Keeping in mind what was said about the Tridents and 500m splash rockets... you can take on anything short of a DB bot (that has not fired its load) or a Galahad (and maybe another Gareth) and very possibly win in a Gareth. Leos, Tashas, Griffs, even a PDB Rhino, if you can utilize cover and the circle technique, all have to take the Gareth seriously or they will be melted (if it is piloted well). Also, a high leveled Hydra bot will cause you a lot of pain if you aren't eating the salvos with your shield or using cover effectively since the Gareth is a light bot with a small HP pool... The Galahad fares much better there... It comes down to play style and intended role as a pilot. Flanker/Capper/Havoc causer? Gareth . Power Runner/Flanker/Knifer... Galahad. Most people will get more out of the Galahad... but again, don't discount the Gareth as useless... It is far from it.

Hello everyone,
I have part 3 of the series rendering on my computer as I write this. It will take another hour so I wanted to use the waiting time to ask a favour of those that have the time to reply. (After watching the video)
This is simply regarding feedback on some changes I've made, more specifically the use of slow and fast motion to match the clips to my narration to maintain a consistent chatter throughout the video. I feel I may have overused this but can't be sure until it's out in the wild.
I'm uncertain whether the positive feedback I initially received was due to the constant frequency of my talking throughout the entire normal speed clip , or the content of the speaking itself. So I'm a little worried I've overly compromised what made the video well-received to begin with. I've experimented with this a little by adding longer pauses of silence in the later part of the third clip. If you dislike or like/prefer that, please let me know.
I've also tried different narration styles per clip. #1 - Regular style #2 - (second half when Galahad comes in) More aggressive, energetic. #3 - Relaxed, light hearted, higher pitch of voice.
My primary concern is the fast/slow motion usage though, so if you watch the video and have a moment to tell me your thoughts, I'd really appreciate that. Thank you.
Regardless, I hope you can take some learning from it still.
I should have it live in a couple of hours, I will update the thread accordingly.
Sincerely,
Ace

And you're right, I think Galahad will be a better pick for me. Maybe Gareth can come after that. acethunder , can't wait for the new video.

Has been uploading for the last 2.5 hours now. Internet is painfully slow today. I'm dying to go to the gym but I want to make sure everything is well before I do. It's at 85% now and estimates 30minutes to completion. Video 3 is more a focus on awareness and pressing against losing odds rather than tricky tactics. But I did include a couple of tricks in there of course

Ace I just watched the video and found it to be informative as always. Any of the three methods of vocal presentation are fantastic.
I did do a LOL (while on train) with you quoting the meme I made for you ?
Thank you for also showing bot and weapon levels..
I am 6-8 making the transition to 7-9 so you are a bit ahead of me ?.
What bot are you looking for when you get your fifth slot? Will it be the stalker?
What software to you use for video editing?
Keep up the great work.

Thank you, and no problem at all The first moment I saw the meme I knew I had to put it in the next video! I have no idea what bot I would put in a fifth slot. I tend to adapt my hangar to the opposition I face or when I get tired of a particular setup. I'm now using Vegas Pro 14 steam edition.

Just watched the 3rd one, great video as usual and loads helpful! Some comments: - I thought fast forwarding the transit parts worked well, and caters to your millenials viewers who have short attention span! It's a technique that's commonly done by other War Robots YTers so think should be fine - The slowing down ("bullet time" mode) was also nicely done, but seemed it didn't sync with the voice-over explanation of what's going on (a few seconds gap - maybe it's just me). I got it second time viewing though - As to voice style, think the dynamic style works. Aggressive tone (#2) to illustrate frustration you must have felt seeing teammates' inability to defend home beacon, and having to pull out your galahad to clean up the mess. Relaxed voice (#3) to go with the playful style of aphid stalker. Don't have to stick to one tone, think better to shift depending on situation - Galahad hug was LOL - The part about getting better angle by using bot in front of you, I had no idea - will try it myself. Is it bot dependent? Works only for lower-lying bot?
Keep up the great work!

My Feedback
1# Love your style here was pleasing to watch with your narration. 2# I actually thought your pitch was higher here, It was good but I think as a continuous style it wouldn't be as effective. 3# Your humour in this one came through and I it actually made me chuckle.
I liked the sped up parts as you cut to the action quicker, I din't like the low mo as it made it look like your hardware was struggling and didn't add anything to the clip.
Overall I would personally like you to use all three style in your videos, your standard narration style interspersed with the more energetic style when the action allows and some good subtle humour used to lighten it

Damn... I have to wait, till work is over. But in aproximately 6 hours, I can watch it, too. Looking forward to it. If it's just half the quality of the other two, it'll be worth it.

Thank you very much for the feedback thus far. It's really appreciated! I hold my hands up in admittance of being lazy in a part of clip 3 with the long slow motion, I had stuff to say but I couldn't match it in time with the footage so I took the easy way out and slowed down the footage to make it match. I won't do it again ;-)
It can't be understated what a great little community it is here, friendly, supportive, intelligent. You guys are great.

I enjoyed the tips and strategies, especially that trick to mount on something to push yourself higher. It's great to understand how a good player decides his movements on the map. Usually i just shoot at red, shoot at next red. Now Im a little more considerate of my team, think a bit more on where to go, how to advance or to lure enemies out so my team has a easier time on the other parts.
I think all the formats work well, other than the first one being a little out of sync. It is aesthetically pleasing how you had the levels right beside the respective weapon slots.. It's also good for us to learn from your mistakes.

I have to agree with most of the sentiments expressed so far as to the feedback for #3. 1. Definitely mix up the styles... 2. Use slow-mo only when needed to illustrate a point or show an event that the viewer would not have been able to notice otherwise... 3. Levels of bots and weapons are appreciated. 4. Continuing the tips and tricks. 5. Sped up boring parts are the way to go. 6. Hugging it out when at all possible is a life rule we should all follow! (However, when not possible... use the biggest and best weapon you have to beat them into a hugging mood... or unconsciousness, whichever comes first, the end result is the same... but I digress) Cheers for the entertainment and the fresh approach to making vids and the bots used. So many use the same thing that, as a lover of variety, it has been hard to find good game-play of something different, like the Gareth or a current meta Leo Gekko Kwk, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing a higher level player using the off center options that we have available... and doing it well and with success. The excellent commentary is gravy for the meat and potatoes content.

I enjoyed the tips and strategies, especially that trick to mount on something to push yourself higher. SNIP.... I think what that is doing... is tricking the Aphids into acting like there is a structure that it must go over... since it seems the way they are coded is to arc higher when close to an obstacle, and almost fly straight when there isn't.

I really can't sure, but I've replicated the Aphid trick using the Galahad also. From observing their behaviour the arc seems to be dependent on the relative height between you and your target. I personally haven't ever had my Aphid fire arc higher due to obstacles or obstructions, it only ever has been for differing heights. I read in another thread that they can behave differently depending on the device you're using to play, so who knows what's going on there!

acethunder great video as usual! I thought the bullet-time for 1) tulum fujin taking down griff in mid air and 2) gary dodging tulums in the corridor were v tastefully executed, well done! Speaking of firing rockets at jumping griffs, when I'm piloting griff or rhino with orkans (i know you sometimes use orkan rhino) and a griff jumps on me, I am horrible at shooting at them in mid air (anybody who sees me in battle now knows how to kill me easily, doh!). Sometimes I empty whole salvo of orks without doing any damage! Any tips on how to shoot orks at airborne targets? Gary on canyon was also very satisfying That trident carnage was probably getting super frustrated at you and was throwing a tantrum LOL Great stuff and keep them coming!

Ace, What i think makes your vids so good is simply that they are different from what is out there. Most will show some quick tips on cookie cutter set ups and show a little game play with minimal analysis.
Your series does not harp on builds and is more about the thinking process to improve the level of play. I know mine has improved and now i lead with a gareth lol. My gareth has had a similar good game on power plant. It did fall prior to end game but it did take out 7 bots and get me700k

Most impresed by that Gareth play. Simply amazing. Second clip would make a good advertisement for Gareth Devs should add a "Watch gameplay" button in the shop for gareth with that second clip.

B30RLL Thank you very much! denzark Without meaning to blow my own trumpet I can generally agree with your observation, a lot of the footage out there is dominated by Furies and Griffins especially. For me personally it's not entertaining to watch due to the limited scope of play, however I don't use the Gareth in my videos because of that reason and wanting to be 'different', I just...love the damn thing, and how it can allow me to play, ha! I am thinking that it will have diminishing returns though. So I'm in the process of levelling a Jessie and later a Rogatka and will see what I can do with them once levelled high enough. I have very low hopes for the Jessie and have planned a critique video for the robot (or rather, how light weapon selection and the Patton invalidate him) if he performs poorly as expected. Thanks as always for your support, and nice job with those damage numbers! couchtrader Interesting name you have...do you trade couches for a living? I bought my 5th slot (reluctantly) yesterday, but thank you very much for the offer anyhow, that's very kind of you to offer! I'd saved 4000 but I got impatient and caved so bought the remaining 1000 with real world cash. I will make your request so, if, it can fit in well with future scripts :-) loop_Stratos Thank you sir! EDIT: Loop, it won't let me capitalise the L in your name, when I save changes it reverts to lower case...so I can't tag you, apologies.

Pro tip I figured out: our forum names aren't always our system names here. You see "Loop_Stratos", but if you hover over his name in this thread, you'll see his system name is actually "@()loopstratos" (no underscore, and delete both parenthesis). If you use his system name, it'll tag him just fine. Paging Loop_Stratos , cleanup on aisle three!
