*Update 19/12/16*
I've made a placeholder video with the same name as the thread that started this all. Seems only appropriate to have it as the first video to be seen before the others. This covers very basic, yet easily forgettable considerations that a player can make to improve their game and engage themselves more. I'd say this is mainly for the newer or infrequent players as veterans in the higher to highest tiers will likely imply these tactics as second nature by now. Any feedback or comments, I welcome as always. Thank you for watching. Hi, I've posted a new video on the merits of smarter play and how it can be more satisfying and engaging for the player, two short games with commentary explaining the rationale behind the decisions made, both good and bad. It isn't long, please give it watch and hopefully you'll get something from it. Any feedback/critique is also welcome. Sincerely, Ace Thunder Hello, I've just released part two of the series focusing on the larger maps with a mixture of light and heavy bot support, mainly psychological warfare and creating/holding battle lines. It's not as intense with action as the first video and I've also altered my narration speed in response to feedback. I've also 'subtly' adjusted the tone of my voice as a little experiment If you dislike the change then please let me know as I've no clue how it might be received until it's out in the wild. I also want to change the thumbnail but YouTube is refusing to let me update it so the stock picture of Gareth will have to do for now. As always, I hope you find it helpful in some way. Ace Part 3, no outstanding gameplay here, just a focus on awareness and sticking to the mission against the odds. Part 4, the effect of decisions & using the environment to great advantage with the Gareth. Part 5, using aggression, distraction and corralling to control the enemy in the meta environment.

You know what you're talking about, which makes you a better player than 70% of the War Robots Community lol. Good gameplay, though you did talk rather fast. Simplifying your reasoning may help this a little bit, but describing in detail is good for newer players. Perhaps describe what you are about to attempt and why while the video is paused, and then start up the gameplay again?

Thanks Camper.
I definitely agree it needs to be streamlined and will do so for my next attempt as writing and syncing the script to the video for those two small games were quite a challenge. I'll look to cut out the irrelevant speaking but I want to keep it so I'm pretty much talking/guiding the whole way.
I do all editing on iPad software so my FX abilities are limited. I'm the definition of a budget/newbie YouTuber right now, ha.

I certainly couldn't be bothered making a video of how I play the game, so props to you.

Loved it. Took some notes, the comment about shields in your second match in particular. Goes to show, half the battle is in your mind (I know I didn't word that correctly, but I'm sure you get what I mean).
Mad skills with making that Gareth last an entire round.
Seriously gotta get me a shieldbot.

Thanks very much to all of you for your comments and critique, very motivating for me and I'm glad you've received the video well. The BBC comment in particular gave me a good laugh :-D

They can add a lot more depth to your play and the weaknesses of the Gareth force you to up your game if you have the inclination, and what you learn can carry over to other bots.

Holy!! I just watched it after work, and your voice!! I didn't even watch it, just putting my phone next to my ear and hear you narrate. Freaking brilliant!!! Reminds me of David Attenborough, and Kingsmen the movie.
Awesome stuff, keep 'em coming!

Good video and narration! I don't even have any shieldbot but now I have one reason more to save Au... Your voice was clear and understandable from point of me (finnish is my native language).

Before I go to bed I want to say thanks once more for the comments, encouragement and feedback both here and on YouTube! I've been taken aback by how well the video has been generally received! I'm already in the process of recording some more footage for a second video :-)
I don't want the theme to outstay its welcome however, so I'll look to continue the series so long as I feel it is something relevant and useful (and hopefully interesting) for the viewer, rather than just make them for the sake of it.

Awesome video... please make more. The tips for, and the usage of, the Gareth, were on point. Your video displays how easy it is to keep away from Aphids, and how much a of a PITA the 'lil guy is for the Reds. I tend to do more good harassing them "behind the lines" with the the Gareth than I do hitting hard with the Lance at the oft contested Center Beacon. If I need silver I won't use it as much... but if I am trying to be a good squad-mate, the Gareth is where I do the most good. You demonstrate that sufficiently. It's a nice bonus that just about any non-shielded bot will fall to you in a 1v1 scenario... and you show that as well.
I watched your other video and subbed... both were excellent and I agree about the balance of the game in high tiers, as well as the likely addition of quality game-play for light bots with some form of scan ability.
Again... Cheers for the videos!

Excellent video. Agree wi the feedback about speech speed. This can be rectified slightly be reducing the amount of words used. BBC is actually a good example ironically.
E.g.: firing range can just be "range". Thus reducing 3 syllables worth of time.
Btw, are u in a particular clan?

E.g.: firing range can just be "range". Thus reducing 3 syllables worth of time. Btw, are u in a particular clan? Thank you for the feedback and compliment. Yes, writing the scripts and then editing to match the video is the most time consuming part of making these videos, on some occasions I need to add padding to paragraphs to have them sync with the action, and vice versa. At the moment I'm averaging just under 3000 words per script. I find it's more difficult to maintain an engaging intonation when there is less to say however, the slower speech adds to a more relaxed feeling (in my opinion, maybe it's just me overanalysing myself) which is fine to an extent but I also want the viewer to be in a state of anticipation for the next events to occur and I worry the relaxed tone may counteract this. Time will tell. My clan is very inactive, only 7 members. I joined them a little while ago because one of them stuck around with me in a game and seemed to be trying to work together, which impressed me, so I asked to join, but they barely speak English! I've no special attachment though.

Great video! I thoroughly enjoyed it May I suggest making a video in the style of a documentary, with sparser commentary and some ambient background music? I saw a youtube comment asking for a guide on a particular robot/setup and I think this format might work well for this!

Just watched the 2nd video - awesomesauce as usual! Think it's good that you explain your though process and give commentary on what went well and what was bad, great chance for viewers to learn from your succes as well as your mistakes.
A minor suggestion is perhaps you can show us what level bots and weaps? Don't have to say it in script, if possible, maybe just overlay it in text when you drop in with with subject bot.
Think you would do very well in clan squads. Don't think those randoms (like that hydra/mag/molot galahad? LOL) fully appreciate all the work and sacrifice that you put into those battles!
