HA! 1974. And I absolutely agree, especially here in the bad ol' USA, there is a cultural stereo-type that only kids play video games and watch cartoons. The first home console game I ever played was Super Pong (2nd generation Pong, with 3 new game modes) in the late 70's. The first PC game I ever played was Ultima III on an IBM PC Jr, with a 8086 CPU, and two 5 1/4 floppy drives for storage. It would take 5 to 10 minutes to get the DOS (not MS DOS) OS and the game to finally load. No mouse to use, they hadn't been invented yet. The first coding I ever did was on a Tandy Color Computer 2 in line-number BASIC. Look it up, and know that this PoS was one of the betas for technological Hell. As a kid, I absolutely adored the 80's cartoons like He-Man and Transformers. As an adult re-watching them... I'm not quite sure what my younger self was thinking. Now I watch anime and the like, and the maturity level is distinctly higher than the 30-minute-toy-commercials we used to watch. And I still get called out as immature for watching any kind of animation other than Family Guy or the Simpsons or other so-called adult mainstream cartoons. If y'all can't tell yet, yes I'm an old school gamer from waaaay back. So I play a lot of mobile games too. Every. Freakin. Time. I reveal my age in a mobile game, my companions in the game are always shocked and mostly a decade or 2 younger than I am. I am very ecstatic to see a broader age demographic here, so thanks OP BlackGrouse ! Born in 1980 got an Atari 7600 when I was 5. Still play video games and watch cartoons.

It is almost every 3 months I have to go to the barber ! Actually when the MacGyver tv-series were airing - somewhere 1980-90 - I did have samekind of hair like he did from back of the neck goo.gl/images/tA1Hrs

I was made in 74. Its nice to see the board composition has a number of us middle aged dudes.
But now I am worried the MM will see this thread and decide that those of us with 40+ years of wisdom should be matched against 12/12 hangars because of our "life experience" advantage...

I played pong when it first came out in the arcades before home consoles existed. The first computer game I played was Tic Tac Toe on an IBM 360 in about 1965 I think. That was of course back when we were still perfecting the wheel and our favorite outside game was "find water" so we'd live to see another day. Find water... You're a mess dude. Lol.. We had "find water" pretty much under wraps in my glorious 70s. Sadly, find food was still in full effect. Strangely, find weed was alot easier of a game to win.

I was already smoking weed by the time you were born. I'm not that bad of a mess, I've just lived longer and seen a bit more madness than most here have.

I had to start doing that for the hair on my head years ago. What's weird is the grey hair on every *other* part of my body.

88 for me. I don't think the younger generation is as into forum boards and what not. They mostly just play the game or monitor the facebook pages, if anything, I'm sure. Maybe many don't have the patience required for the game either.

No wonder this game is so expensive! Pixonic know it's mostly played by people who can say, "screw this, where's my damn credit card..."
I was adopted by a French clan once. There was a bit of a language barrier. I would team up with one guy who would shoot me in the 「bum-bum」 whenever he saw me, which was a bit annoying. Until you think about typical player demographics, you automatically assume everyone is the same as you. Then this guy says, how old are you? I'm 11 (in French). There was no way I was telling this kid I was old enough to be his parent. "pardon, je suis englais. No parle Français" I spent the next couple of games shooting him back in the butt and forgiving his poor choices.
Then I think, "why would he tell me he was 11? I wonder if he was a 40-year-old FBI guy looking for pedophiles...? Or a pedophile looking for other kids?! Eugh!! No!"
I avoid talking to clan members now.

I was squadding with some randoms and I mentioned I had kids. One of my squad mates said, "You're too good at this game to be that old!" I asked him how old he was, and he said, "12." So I said, "it's late... shouldn't you be in bed?" THEN he believed me.

I bought one of those "500 in 1" systems that has 500 old atari games in a replica atari console... for nostalgic purposes. My kids discovered it and now I can't get it back. Given that my kids all have access to computers and iPads and the like, I was really surprised those old games could still hold their interest.

I was born the same year as Mark Zuckerberg and ScarJo. Also happens to be the title of a famous George Orwell novel.
My first PC was a Commodore 64.
