I read their news this morning and my first thought was: Not another event! Sheesh! And the new event sounds like War Robots all over again with their umpteen number of currencies for different things. We already have a Loot Rush gaptcha. Why do we need a different one? Why can't they just rejig the existing one to have new prizes instead of the same old same old? I'm not liking this new direction at all... So, there's a chance to win full mechs?? So what. Anything I want to run, I've already got, and anything new I get will need to get umpteen blueprints and be leveled and ranked up just to be useful.
The Disc Launcher looks cool and I can't wait to get my hands on it. If it starts at 8EN, then my guess is that the "big brothers" will be 10EN and 12EN respectively. It's a MR weapon, so I can see myself getting all three and then cloning the 10 and/or 12 when I get the chance. From the footage I've seen, it seems to be more a single shot (or slow firing) grenade launcher with an arc that can go over or around shallow cover. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope you can get some wicked curves with it! I've been hoarding my resources and it kinda sucks that I have to go thru the new Event draws to hope to get one. I'd hoped I could buy it straight out like the Arc Torrents. Oh well...it'll be mine eventually.

I'm torn. winning mechs and weapons is actually a good thing since duplicates aren't possible. In theory, that would rejigger the odds to favor other things. Nothing was more frustrating in War Robots than getting duplicates of crappy stuff over and over and over when all you wanted was that shiney new toy. I'm not saying the odds will be good for the shiney new toy here, but based on current mechanisms in place, the odds should update when items are taken off th list, ala Loot Rush crate skins.
That said, I don't like more currencies. I hate them in fact. And loot rush has it's place. You spin for skins, coins and credits. Great! Fine. But don't make useful content only available on a lottery basis. That is SO War Robots! BE DIFFERENT GUYS! DON'T GO DOWN THAT ROUTE! UGH!!!

I'm debating do I buy the MD and other small weapons I never worried about so they won't be in the win track.. will that work.. can I make it that easy...
I don't have md, cheetah, brickhouse or surge
Weapons a lot of 2 and 4s i dont have..
If its like the fortune vault in any way when you clear things something better takes its place?
Only reason I never bought some of these things is so I have better odds in the daily shop to get bp id rather have.

Hey saw I was tagged and figured I could maybe help answer questions? Honestly, these are all good thoughts/questions and I wish I was told more. Here is what I know:
- There will be a new event called the Event Crate Rush
- These will have new crates called Event Crates
- You get them with Event Tokens that you can earn from events during the Event Crate Rush
- You can get full mechs or weapons that arent available anywhere else
- These mechs and weapons will eventually be available to everyone through standard methods like the Progress Path
So it does appear like a new currency with luck of the draw being the primary goal. So.....gacha based. I hate the idea of it honestly. I am at least happy that everyone will be able to get it through regular means after the event so it's not full gacha forever. More like early access gacha.
They did confirm that Arachnos is a possible reward. So I assume the disc launcher and Arachnos are possible along with whatever else they have in the crates. It doesnt seem like the regular items in the progress path with be linked (as those would be classified as 'available somewhere else'), but this seems to be the likely method of releasing new mechs/weapons in the future.
My guess is they didn't get the numbers they want with previous releases of Surge/Redox directly in the progress path nor with the release of Arachnos in the event. So they are going to a luck-based system to keep it 'fair' while introducing gambling elements.
If War Robots was like this, was it entirely luck based where you had to keep trying until you got it forever or did they eventually let you buy it straight out? What was the timetable for that like? I assume they will make this similar to that. Hopefully better, but still overall.....yuck

Hopefully better, but still overall.....yuck TBH, I think the feedback about the lack of worth for the Redox and Surge that so many players gave them, should have hit home... they weren't going to get tons of people on the bandwagon of Mechs that are on the weaker side of balanced. I think they have potential and I have found uses for both in my hangar's rotation... but... those uses are limited and the mechs themselves just don't hold up in most situations against similarly leveled opposition.
The Surge is a bit better off, due to the surprise aspect of it's ability... but it's so fragile that even one mistake will leave you minus one mech.
Redox is just too damned sluggish for its HP. It can't get away, and it surely can't take much fire... literally a sitting duck. Dual CB 12s was a passable build on maps where I could hide around corners... but otherwise it is just a target for the reds and I've made it my Mortar carrier.
Point is... that, maybe, their poor sales is more due to the fact that they just aren't worth the price, rather than the way in which they were attained.
I do suspect that the DL, especially the higher EN versions, will be worth a decent amount of resources... if those vid clips are any indication. Plus, if we use the Arc as a meter stick, they didn't release the ARC 10 too weak. AC 6 is actually not too bad on a Shadow... but it's NOT OP and acts like an EN 6 weapon... which I am happy with, but it still can hurt or kill a maimed mech, so it has its place. All that to say; I have hopes that the DL will follow suite.
Still... back to the point... I am with you: gacha is just dirty in games like this.

Obviously the disc launcher will be new but unless they have a lot of new weapons and bots waiting in the wings I don't see a lot to win I don't already have.

Their last couple of new content stuff was pretty balanced so I really hope they continue this trend, even thought it kinda hurts them because how many veteran players will get the new stuff when their old stuff is all leveled higher and more useful? It's like when I had to choose between leveling my Paragon or Arachnos and I went Paragon mostly cause I already had the blueprints for it.

The disk launcher8 looks like a side-grade to MR8, with it's 6 mag capacity and splash. Ultimately, they will be releasing exotic and prototype weapons that act as side-grade, and subsequently direct upgrades (at higher EN cost) to previous weapons. The monetization scheme at play demands it. I would treat the Disk launchers that aren't 8 cost to be direct upgrades to Missile racks, which isn't really a bad thing given current EN capacities for 6.1 and max. So long as the numbers for the items themselves are ~balanced~, which I will say, plarium has done an excellent job of maintaining outside of Railgun(no downside), it should be fine. If they deviate from that ~end game~ balance principle, I'd be among the first to point it out. Unlike Arachnos(which new players will still get the derby for), the disk launchers will launch for direct buy, with the events being "early access". Yea, there will probably be a low chance for anyone that doesn't have all of the event exclusive skins/items to get the new stuff, but there is still a chance, and they will release for currency. If they keep certain items/skins derby/event related, and continue offering the derby items to new players (all players get the Arachnos derby), it's on them to get those items. So far, so good. |

I did notice that at the end of a match, my mech keeps walking forward after the game takes control away from you instead of just stopping. That was kinda cool. Same... mine did too.

If you look at your achievements for example the Guardian's ones under Beacon Protector there is a description "Use Missile Racks blabla" and when you press on "Missile Racks" you can see the whole collection MR6, MR8 and MR12  , were you aware of this? I can see Javelin Rack 8 too. |

Is this the beginning of power creep? How long before a Carb 12 is old hat? The numbers are still balanced around the weapons EN cost and function. This can't really be called power creep, as the weapon sets that were available had a hard time filling EN for anything other than light mechs. Carb 12 still does what it's supposed to do for it's cost and EN slot. Be a well rounded sustained fire weapon. MR will still have the downside of "If you miss, you die". With Disk launcher 16 being the first weapon in that EN category with a normal magazine/reload function, and the current two extremes between sustained(SB) and burst(RG) it'll fit right in the middle. These new weapons aren't doing anything that make old weapons obsolete, they're just bringing the end game hangar diversity back to what it was before the EN increase and removal of second copy mechs. |

Well, the Event Rush is here and TBH, I can't be more disappointed. 1 Event Token for finishing an event?? On my first pull, with the free token they give, I got 300 KS blueprints. Wuhoo... And, if you want to buy tokens, it's $35 CAD for 5 measly tokens! Are you kidding me? This feels a lot like Pix tactics to me.
Then, I finally saw the stats for the Disk Launcher 8. It's basically a slightly upgraded RPG6 that has lock on and therefore more shots will land. Can't call this a side upgrade to the MR8 at all. What a let down. I'm sure it'll be very useful when ranked up and leveled up, but come on...all that waiting for a RPG that can lock on??
I stockpiled over 12k A-coins....I guess I should just spend it rushing a couple of mechs...but, none of my mechs are close enough to max for a rush to be worthwhile. Oh well...
