I just want to say, after seeing a message that was left on the War Robots FB page that was crying about the aphids and Pix responding with a cryptic response that implies another freaking nerf... that it adds a new dynamic to the game that had become dominated by Orcs and Mags/Tarans, and more recently, Tridents. Now there are 4 main damage dealing choices. The other three weren't negated by Aphids. Just given a counter. They can be dealt with.
A couple of easy examples:
My Galahad can avoid most damage just running with the shield down.
A heavy bot either needs to be hugging the wall or have a screen of Medium/light bots to clear the Aphid throwers.
Yes, they hurt... but...
It can be done.
More complexity in a game that changes so rarely, is nice. They aren't OP. Just on par with the previous kings. How fast do Griffs and Leos and Boas die to my puny Gareth Taran/Mag? Pretty dang fast... they don't stand a chance... but no one is screaming to nerf Tarans and Mags again...
Adapt and overcome. Tri Aphid Geps are no worse than Mag Geps... that is a separate issue that has more to do with MM than the weapons... But Aphids in High Silver and Low Gold are not detrimental to the game. IMHO only, of course.

Amen brother. Preach on.
Maybe we spam Pix to just relax about aphids and worry about, you know, the MM.

Aphid Geps actually far outclass maggeps in one important area: the lack of need for line of sight. They're highly unpredictable to the target and I've seen them snag most damage in lots of games when wielded by good pilots. While this doesn't mean that they're completely broken, a minor nerf is probably indicated when max damage can be attained without ever even seeing one of your targets. Personally, I only think they warrant a minor damage nerf; the new flight characteristics are fantastic.

I love my new Aphids (Got them about 2 months ago). I can understand how people have issues with them, but I've also seen that those issues are warranted only when the Aphids are shot by someone who knows how to handle them. I wouldn't mind a damage nerf, but would a firing arc or cluster nerf.

I've also seen that those issues are warranted only when the Aphids are shot by someone who knows how to handle them. That's basically the precise definition of the only time something needs adjustment: experts can show a dramatic flaw in the current settings that can't be surpassed a majority of the time without a stat modification.

I'm not entirely sure what to think about Aphids, they are strong maybe a bit over the line.
To me the large abuse comes back to Gepards, with their 58 speed they can happily keep themselves indefinitely on the other side of a barrier out running the majority of chasers and their 30 speed. Pattons with Aphids are strong but as a Patton Pin user, I know Pattons to be slow and prone to dropping limbs every time a light breeze comes in.

Aphids have a fast cycle. Combined with Gepard speed, not needing line of sight, recently buffed arc, tighter grouping and high damage, you are going to eating a few cycles before meeting that Gepard.
cant really say I had issues with them though, in maps where they are popular like dead city or power plant, there are good walls to hide from them. And in other maps, they are pretty open targets due to their short range.
its only when they squad up that makes it hard, since you will eat a lot of simultaneous cycles from out of nowhere.

In my opinion, they are overpowered when compared to the risk it takes to use them. Right now, you can essentially lob aphids over cover without ever having to see your opponents, much less get hit by them. Back then, before the aphid buff, you had to pop out of cover momentarily and expose yourself to deathbuttons and all sorts of nasties in order to use aphids. I personally think the only change that should be made is to make it so that they can't be lobbed endlessly over cover and the user has to expose himself momentarily in order to hit a bot. Keep the current accuracy and damage.

My Aphids are on a Patton and I couldn't agree with you more. Their armor is a little on the light side, slower than the average medium, and harsh language could knock a weapon or two off of its frame. 4 Aphids can do a lot of damage but you have to be smart. Don't expose yourself, time the landing of other's jumps just right, and use logic with a little bit of luck to determine when a running 'bot may slow down or turn to optimize damage. I could see them getting a damage nerf in the future, and even though I have them, I can understand and I'm fine with it.

My aphids are 7/8 on my Patton and I am getting to be a better pilot with them. What I've learned is that it takes a lot more skill to be good with them than I thought, and they are easier to dodge than I had previously understood. Owning aphids made me a better pilot against aphids.
That said, they can one-shot a light bot and on a Gepard they can be ridiculously time consuming to hunt down. I think they could use a bit of a Nerf. Either lower the arc slightly or lower the damage slightly. Overall, I think the meta is learning how to deal with them though, and I don't see them as a huge problem anymore

I think they could use a bit of a Nerf. Either lower the arc slightly or lower the damage slightly. I'd be okay with just a damage nerf. I'd probably go back to using pinatas on my griffins and leave the aphids for bots that rely on it. (Aphid Patton, aphid gep, aphid/thunder Leo.)

Save the low risk high reward weapon? Nope. It definitely needs a minor nerf in cycling times, not damage. 13 to 15s like a pinata. Imo, the arc is fine and the damage is okay for a weapon that can be easily blocked with walls. When the missiles do hit, they should count and hurt. With the higher cycling times, it makes it way more easier to hunt the bot down without eating 3 cycles in a row while it dodges you. 3 cycles is more than enough to cripple and kill most bots, and they shouldn't be able to do that in a 30 second frame while taking no damage because they are non los.

All of this griefing was brought about by an update to the in-flight tracking system for missiles in general, not just the Aphids (although they seem to enjoy the most benefit from it). Behind the scenes, I believe the Devs simply improved the obstacle avoidance algorithms. Functionally it means that you can't dodge the missiles just by being near an obstacle as before, but instead have to metaphorically mate with a wall/building/etc, and usually with limited success. In my own experience, in both low and high battle tiers, missile lobbers were a joke that could be ignored and have minimal damaging impact. Since the tracking update, they have become a valid threat across the board, and that's why peeps are 「female dog」ing. Nobody likes change unless it's a clear benefit to them.

so really if you think about it carefully, it's not the aphids that are the problem. it's the geps and they're ridiculously stupid speed. if you can hide from any robot in the game and pound them without ever being seen then something is off with the geps. also that stealth thing really needs to be fixed.. if you're going to be in a stealth bot then make it slower and give the stealth more time. as it is you can't kill them without the exact right robot/weapon.

I've finally been enjoying the Aphids. I only have two, but that's because I found them to be so ineffective and inconsistent. For a gold weapon, they SHOULD perform well. I understand that Pixonic is constantly looking for balance within the game, and I'm all for it. Every time they change something, nerf this, buff that, it's to get that bubble between the lines. This game has a lot of whiners that think they know better. We all have complaints and suggestions, I for one think Trident Furys are OP, but that just makes my clan and I stronger when we adapt and overcome. This game would be boring if you didn't get your 「bum-bum」 blown off from time to time...

Stalker: Stealth 8 seconds 16 sec cool down Griffin: Jump 25 second cool down 6 seconds air time Rog: Jump 10 second cool down 4 second air time If you miss a bots jump, you just see that Rog land, you know that he's got 6 seconds to go b4 he can jump again. I like to keep count on things in my head. It's a good idea to learn weapon reload times as well. That helps keep your bots healthy. (Tridents reload 11 seconds)

For a gold weapon, they SHOULD perform well. I, for one, hope that this is never the line of thinking Pix uses. It is the Dark Side. It is the Path of Pay-to-Win. If Au weapons are more powerful they need a big down side. The weapon should require lots of skill, or be useless in certain situations, or only be usable a certain number of times per match, or only be usable if the bot is a heavy, or only be able to be installed once on a bot, etc. I don't know that WSP equipment has to be he same, but Au can be purchased, so it's important to draw a line.

I believe they should be equal to wsp weapons or maybe a tiny bit better, otherwise it would be a waste of gold. Increasing reload time seems like an ok nerf but I'm not 100% sure it needs it.

Not sure I agree with you on this one, completely. This game, more so than any other i've played, allows you to acquire its premium currency relatively easily. I can get 5k gold in less than 30 days. Sure you could speed that up by paying for it, but non-buyers can catch up fairly quickly.

Obviously, it's not like we have to agree. One of the logical extensions of your argument, however, is that if Pix just made it clear to noobs how easy it was for them to gain Au then 5-Gep bronze hangars (or whatever the next OP bot is) wouldn't be a big deal. That still seems crazy to me. Also, the fact that Au is relatively simple to generate doesn't change that, as a rule, simply making anything purchased with it more powerful isn't necessarily a good idea. It boils the game down to "whoever spent the most Au on the top bot build right now wins."

"Adapt and overcome" Nerf is such a millennial shoulder crier term. Besides, I've almost enough gold to purchase my first Aphid.
