Pixonic have this thing about wanting to penalize players if they leave or don't participate in games. As if the players should just swallow whatever piece of garbage that Pixonic decide to feed them and that players should be grateful for receiving that piece of garbage because it is golden garbage, fresh from the Pixonic's loo.
What Pixonic fail to understand is why players choose to leave or stop participating in a game.
It is because Pixonic chooses to put players on a field that becomes heavily one sided, leading to one side not wanting to participate because they will achieve nothing other than dieing.
Oh, but what about your team mates and supporting them?
When a battle finishes in 2 and a half minutes, there's something fundamentally wrong with the balance of the teams. When you're on the receiving side, well, you just don't want to be there. It's not fun.
War Robots is a game. Games are meant to be fun. If they're not fun - even when you lose they can be fun - then they're not worth playing.
Bad sportsmanship you say?
Pixonic chooses who goes on the field together. It's up to Pixonic to ensure that participants on the field are matched appropriately so that everyone enjoys the game. Penalizing players for Pixonic's inability to make good decisions is an abdication of Pixonic's responsibility.
If players aren't behaving in a sportsmanlike fashion then maybe Pixonic need to look in the mirror and ask if they're doing their job as referees well. They're the custodians of the game. If people bail out because of poor matchups then the fault is with Pixonic, not with the hapless player(s).
But don't worry, Pixonic accept no responsibility for creating games that are unenjoyable, it's your fault for playing their game in the first place. And if you don't like their game, Pixonic will make sure that you get penalized for not playing it the way they want you to.
Nobody wants to play a game that ends in 2.5 minutes. Nobody wants to play a game where you are dead in seconds after materialising on the game field. Every time.
Own your 「dookie」 Pixonic.

Economy is 100% set up for people willing to spend thousands of dollars on a video game, Everything Pix does caters to the fraction of the player base to the demise of the rest of the community.
It’s long accepted that Pix intentionally creates a pay to win environment. It’s never going to change. The unfortunate effect of this is that in spite of the game’s popularity it kills off huge swaths of its player base. This cascades into a horrible MM experience. Extreme difficulty for most people to accomplish tasks like “come in top 3 in damage”. Tanking and league “management”. In general an insurmountable imbalance of power.
We see you Pix... we see you...

Imho, Pix needs LIVE plinking targets for it's main costumers.
In Pix mind, those who refuse to pay, refuse to become plinking target are useless and they are better not play.

Agreed, and it'll be a vicious cycle of fewer players getting seal clubbed continuously and therefore frustrated and inevitably quitting.

frustration theory and the study of manipulation of people's emotions as relates to consumer behaviour is a big thing.
this game is set up to produce sales via manipulation of the player's emotional response. they can track your in-game purchasing as it relates to your game experience.
if you win all the time, you won't buy anything. you don't need to. if you lose just enough or under identifiable circumstances, you'll be inclined to make a purchase to rectify the loss.
when you're pissed off, stop and think about this. they are manipulating you. DELIBERATELY. so walk away. load a custom game by yourself and run around the map practicing jumps or super dash or timing beacon caps (timing phantom ability with beacon cap so you port back at exactly the last second). or experiment with other bot games, theres dozens of them now.

What OP says is true but there are plenty of games that are not mismatches but players bail out very early. Maybe their favorite bot got wasted so they rage quit.
I recently had a game where we had two beacons but four guys quit and left me and some other dude against a team of six.

Back when pixonic realized they can sell meta quitting became a huge problem because people in leo's and griffens did not want to fight maxed specter hangers.
I was on the test server back then and participated in pixonic discussions, the problem was the two people left on a team got smashed and complained so the community came up with a way to punish people for quitting under the guise of anti tanking as a way to foce people to be cannon fodder, get angry and spend money to upgrade.
Despit the punishment this is still a problem today, at least 5 games per day i join are already in progress when i drop in to get obliterated which means people are still quitting on a mass scale.

I quit often. I only have a certain amount of time to play the game, and I'll be damned if I'm going to just get arse ripped and take it. Matchmaking is as horrible as always and the beginning of the month free for all with the whales is over the top. I'll usually just let the game run in the background while I get some work done until the match is over and try again.

Question:
When you are on the team that's winning a lopsided battle...
How often do you quit in frustration over the unfairness of the MATCHMAKER?
Everyone is free to play this game as they see fit...but if your answer to my question is that "you don't", then any and all justification for quitting due to power level mismatches against you is null and void.
I'm not calling anyone out. Personally, I don't care what you do.
If 3 teammates rage quit at the "unfairness of life", I will score in the top 3 and earn more rank/silver/honor for a quick loss and move to the next match.
Bad matchups are a part of any competition...it happens. Liking it is not mandatory... dealing with it is. If your method of dealing with it is to quit ONLY when you are disadvantaged...it says more about you than the game.
Hey... opinions are like buttholes...if you think mine stinks: 1) You can be offended by the stench... 2) You can walk away from it...

I don't mind losing, what I mind is not having a decent match in the first place. Other times it will be a decent match, totally up in the air who wins, and then some ?bum-bum chapeau? drops the 150 ming. Like get ?fluffernutter?ing real. I hope they realize they can win all they want, to an empty audience, they aren't having fun like I do. On to the next.

Lest I be considered someone defending the Matchmaker...
As a "cheap to play" (as opposed to "free to play") player, (grand total: $40 in 5 years) I despise the fact that "instant, no skill hangars" can be purchased and pitted against "grind hangars" without consideration for power imbalance and result in ruined game experience. So...I do sympathize with the "I'm taking my ball home and you can play with yourself" sentiment.
That said, as I have benefitted from mismatches (none of which I engineered), I play out the crap hands I get dealt.
Do I expect to receive acclaimation for my actions? No.
This is a freaking game...I don't bleed or risk death.
If I did, at the very least, I would quit mismatches...IN FACT, if the game started charging me sums of money for losses I would tell PIXO to "Take a flying 「fluffernutter」 at a rolling donut".
But they don't...such is the pity as I have looked high and low for a suitable opportunity to use that phrase and it still eludes me.
I am, most likely, a delusional optimist. I look for opportunities to be involved in "The Greatest Comeback In War Robots History" and cannot do so if I leave the match.
As for "Why does PIXO penalize leavers?"...well, the people who stay and lose suffer diminished stats and resources, so why should someone avoid that by cherry picking which games are accorded to them? Everyone would have astounding win rates if all their losses were deleted.
I do offer an opportunity to PIXO to reduce the number of quitters...but it would require the efforts of those, by far, more experienced in coding than myself...
How about if a "MISMATCH BONUS" were instituted?
If a team is beaten by a team that far and away overpowers it...
(For instance, an S-clan aquatic mammal squad vs a mixed squad of randoms)
The losing team receives 1.5-2x earned rewards and only .5 rank/honor/repair loss?
This could be scaled according to bot/weapon level imbalance.
(Believe it or not...at one time, PIXO used to match opposing teams by ranking their bots/weapons/hangars. Unfortunately, players learned to game this system and match themselves against noobs. (Seal clubbing) Old hands in this game remember it as "The MAG-GEPARD Era".)
My idea (which I'm sure I stole from somebody, but can't remember whom...so I will take credit) will not stop MM Mismatches...but would take significant sting out of being steamrolled and would encourage players to remain in the game and actually attempt to score higher as the bonus factor would kick in.
It's sort of like when college football teams in lesser divisions get paid surprisingly high amounts of money to get their 「multiple dookie delivery chute」 kicked as tune up games for far bigger school teams. PLUS...they get to be seen competing against the big boys.
Now I wouldn't hold my breath at the possibility of this happening...PIXO isn't taking my calls... especially since I hired that "Southwest Asian" telephone sales company to keep calling them with many creative things to change about the game and their development staff.

Dude, it's just a game. Players with MK2 maxed out everything, shouldnt be playing a players who don't even own a MK2 weapon or bot. The best and easiest solution is for pix to fix matchmaking, then everyone (except the whales) are happy.

If you don't want to be penalized for not playing, then don't hit the Battle button. Seriously, do you think someone from Pix is monitoring each game and when they see someone leave, they're like: bam, penalty!? If you do leave a game, then you SHOULD be penalized by losing cups.

Ok...now we are back to a MM complaint.
I agree with you wholeheartedly about the Matchmaker. There shouldn't ever be such a disparity in power between opponents.
But the original question was about penalizing leavers. While I sympathize with their frustration, I guarantee that they have been on the good side of a mismatch and they didn't leave.
"Wah... I'm angry because MM put me at a disadvantage this time after placing me with the advantaged team previously...so I'm dropping out."
Like you said... it's a game...games have rules.
You can violate the rules, but there are consequences.

Yes, I totally get that. It's funny, but frequently I might play from 3am to 9am, depending on how much of a total beating I'm taking. Then play from 1pm to 6pm, followed by 10pm to midnight. What all this means is I used to be able to clearly see when it was a good time to play ( when I stood a chance in heck, language filter, and when it was an absolute waste of time ) As time goes on, this isnt even possible any more. More and more players I guess. What's the biggest give away about mis matched games? Well, I'm being totally honest here, I'm a Blue, the Reds win probably 70% of the games I play, period. I started leaving games when I got fed up of being " stove-piped to death " Additionally, since I spend money on the game, yes, totally out of frustration, not as bad as I used to, I guess I felt entitled to leave a game. Now, I don't consider myself a quitter. I'm not a bad sport. However, with the bots I have, I can easily put more than a dent in the enemy. Usually, until one thing happens. Trying to stay on topic, the Reds start launching " Titans " yes, wonderful Titans, oh, Titans that can fly, AND have a seemingly never ending supply of ammunition. Clearly Pixonics most magnificent idea yet. So, I'm at a quandry, some of you will say " well, launch your Titan" but I never do, I can't because they destroy the rythm of the game. How stupid is that? I wish others could see this, but they never will. So, I will continue to just keep on " keeping on " Please, one more thing, Titans, upgrades that cost a fortune, Pilots, new ,futuristic weapons ( with ridiculous names, what on earth is a " Quarker? ) nerfing weapons, and newer futuristic bots, some with absurd abilities which give totally unfair advantages, oh, and winning weapons that I don't want or need simply to get me to spend more on upgrading for the silly thing. And notice how not one weapon, not one, is worth a crap, until you upgrade it to Lvl. 9,10 or 11? THIS, is where the problem is, WHICH leads to WHAT? People leaving games, tanking and camping, low priority status, we arent the ones who should be getting ' pile-driven'. There isnt anything wrong with game developers making money on the games they develop, reasonability, greed, and being unappreciative to the players? People start leaving games.Eventually, people revolt however they can. Okay, unleash all the sarcastic commentary. It changes nothing, it's done out of frustration. Don't hate me because I'm never ever wrong.

You can violate the rules, but there are consequences. You do understand people quit when I'm on the winning side, right? I'm mean no sense going forward with this conversation until you understand that. Ok...I will grant that in the War Robots universe there are players who will see how their team holds a significant advantage and will leave the game as it isn't interesting to them. I will also grant that 4-leaf clover exist, people do win the lottery and lightning has been known to strike the same spot more than once. I seriously doubt the players you are referring to suffer from being penalized under the existing rule structure. I have expressed an understanding of the frustration caused by mismatches (I've been there too) and the sentiment toward leaving games that were extremely one sided...I have also presented an incentive PIXO could issue to reduce this type of behavior. But the fact remains that the overwhelming majority of players who will quit a game will do so because they feel it's lost right from the start...and if they were on the OP side (even if they didn't engineer this mismatch in some manner) would not leave the game. Furthermore, if PIXO did not take punitive steps against leavers the practice would be more widespread and games would become far worse on a regular basis. If you are one of the rare pilots who will abandon an advantaged game...I salute you. I was not directing my comments at anyone in particular or calling anyone out. I believe I implied that I don't leave games where my team is OP when I stated that I don't leave games where my side is disadvantaged, so I was not attempting to demonstrate some higher moral code. As for the "discussion", aside from yourself, the majority of justification for leaving a game, mentioned here, revolves around how the poster had "no chance" against the red forces arrayed against him/her and decided to not receive a fast defeat. This is where I based my response.

I understand. Players see YOU on the winning side and quit the game.
SHEER INTIMIDATION.
I promise to not quit when I see you.
(Bear in mind though that I don't have the capacity to read and/or care about the names above my opponents while I'm in the middle of a battle and trying to strategize, maneuver my bots, shoot accurately, find open beacons, determine what hostile ability is being used and see which of my teammates I can assist.)

Geez guys you really don’t understand, once again I must explain. I have had over a thousand battles that came in with a clutch against massive whales and that was ONLY when nobody quit. If you quit you just give in and give up, not caring about your teammates. I understand sometimes that you get matched with whales that have mk2 max on every single thing, but it’s nothing to leave the game for. Also, it’s not always matchmakers fault, it is just the people who spend lots of money on the game. Because they start out and just keep spending money until they are at the top. To them you are just a stepping stone to get to their goal, Pixonic has so much unnecessary hate from people and it is not even their fault most of the time. Stop being salty when you don’t win guys seriously. Just because they are winning the first half doesn’t mean you can’t win the second, like I said a thousand games where I have turned games around just because nobody in my team QUIT if you quit, you are a bad sport and you don’t have to play this game but you do. All to get “squished by whales” because you guys have neither the skill nor the endurance just to finish a 3 minute game? Supposedly, as you all said what’s the point in playing when it’s a clear loss? Well first of all I don’t go down without a fight, meaning even if I know who I am fighting is 10 times stronger than me I won’t just give up and let them sack me on the ground. You should NEVER I repeat NEVER give up on anything, at least that’s the way I see it from my 12 year old mind, eh but you might just see everything as ooh let me try this just so I can quit at another thing. Final message. NEVER QUIT IT PUTS YOUR TEAMMATES AT A SURE LOSS BECAUSE OF IT AND WHEN ONE PERSON LEAVES MORE WILL LEAVE ACTUALLY MAKING IT A LOSS ALL BECAUSE YOU ARE A CRYBABY. A’ight? Now man up and take it all.

Power imbalance is unavoidable here. Everyone says it should be split by hangar but I say matchmaking should be done by average honor. I guarantee this would result in quality matches for all. Additionally, they need to reward more for climbing higher rather than punishing more for dropping lower. More would try harder if the return was greater the better you do...

You're screwing over the rest of your team. Although there are a lot of issues with the MM, this is only contributing to a lousy play experience. There is not much screwing over the the rest of your team. Practically none. When we run in a full squad, solos will lose provided we don’t screw up something really bad and there aren’t a few maxed players on the other side. And they will lose heavily. Say 25:0 in tdm. And if they go the distance it will be 35:5 or something. Now that’s fun for us too. Game quality is crap in large squads. It is fun to socialise with the other guys but in terms of game quality ...... Perhaps in 8 to 9 out of 10 games against solos a number of reds quit as soon as they see a full squad. Makes no difference to the outcome if they do or if they don’t. U know that. And ours isn’t even a whale squad where we would have 40000 cups combined to the reds 8000. Similar situation holds for smaller squads but players quit on our side too and the blow outs are not as big. There is a fundamental game balance issue here of extreme proportion combined with the promotion of such seal clubbing activity in order to make money while ditching game quality considerations. Solos don’t have to participate, they dont have to waste their time with such crap. The screwing over the rest of your team argument is extremely weak. The lousy playing experience is a result of monetisation and match making. That needs to be fixed and Leaving is perhaps one way to pressure pix. I don’t blame theplayers, I blame Pix.
