Hello everyone. I have been introduced to the game by a friend in the summer of 2014. I have been playing longer than Adrian Chong- and I absolutely loved it. In its early stages, the game was excellent. Everyone ran the same robots, and there were no meta bots which could shred anything which comes at them. I progressed through the game pretty quickly, and was making real progress when I got my first fury. the fury was a tremendously powerful robot, and one which I saw incredibly rarely in the early stages of the game. About as rarely as seeing a destrier in master league nowadays (Believe me, I think my entire team was surprised when a special paint job destrier showed up on the canyon map a few days ago) Everyone ran pretty much the same thing, out of which a personal favourite was a rogatka I got my hands on at one point, and the 'meta' bots' and weapons were so ridiculously expensive that I saw them rarely. But they wreaked havoc. Indeed, I often one-shotted people with my triple zeus fury. Initially there was no shields, no module nonsense, just robots using strategy to outwit your opponents. I remember the first time I saw an aphid on a natasha- I was incredibly surprised. I did make a purchase once, to get some gold because I really wanted a zeus. That initially did nothing to level out the field for me. In fact, the 1,500 gold zeus was weaker than the 1,200 orkan. I did also save up for a gepard, and enjoyed launching aphids at people. So I quit for a few moths, and when I returned I found out that pixonic had sent me about 10,000 gold. This is their exact message: "Hello Brainstorm (my name then). We missed you, so here is some gold to get you started" that is how I got my hands on the fury. And this began to shred people quickly. Then the ability robots like fujin and raijin came along. As did the trebuchet, taran and magnum. I one-shotted people with a triple trebuchet fury, but at that point the game began to get unfair. These were the first component robots and weapons. Then robots like spectre and inquisitor got added, and I had no way to counter these. And, just before I could even think about making them, they introduced the pantheon squad. I began to speed-save components because the squad tore anything it encountered apart, and even ebfore I could pixonic nerfed the robots, especially the ares, and introduced dragon bots. And ragnarok squad. I barely managed to save up for an ao jun before that got nerfed as well. I also managed to save up for a mercury and hellburner, but the hellburner got such a massive nerf it made a month of component production futile. Then the leech was introduced, as was the phantom and behemoth- stupidly overpowered robots which tear anything apart. I began speed-saving for a phantom, and the ravana got introduced, and the nodens. From what I see, pixonic is nerfing robots and introducing stupidly overpowered robots to make people pay. I remember how they were 'happy' to see me after the purchase, how much gold I got. When I did that again, a break, I got nothing at all. In order to stay on top since the ares got introduced it began forcing people to pay to win. I never save up for a robot before something gets nerfed, or something so insanely overpowered gets introduced it shreds my entire hangar. This is my hangar now, until today: Ao Jun. Nucleon and sinister glacier Ao Guang. Triple taran Phantom. Yan-di corona, shredder, magnum Ares. Cryo, orkan, double gust Hades. Calamity, double spark I was saving up for a leech. My titan is a leadhose ao ming with 1 tsar That hangar- years of practice and skill, gets shredded every time. I cannot defeat anyone by playing fairly and not paying. Because of the stupidly overpowered robots rushing around. I think pixonic is forcing people to pay enormous amounts of money just to win. The game morphed from robot chess into utter garbage. I quit playing the game. It is not fun anymore- saving up for a robot, only to get destroyed by the newest meta robots out there. Pixonic is doing a stupid job of forcing people to pay. I love videos of War Robots hackers. Regaining the advantage pixonic took away.
I hate what pixonic has done. Does anyone feel the same, its not fun that the money-hungry typical Russians in charge are offering people who play it like chess as target fodder for people who pay? If Adrian Chong ever faced me with the same bots, I think I would have defeated him since I have been playing far longer. But not now. Pay-to-winners are too overpowered for the game to be fair anymore. Does anyone miss the days when the game was not pay-to-win war robots, but robot chess Walking War Wobots (Walking War Robots)?

Quite the adventure and career you've had with War Robots. Thank you for sharing.Does anyone feel the same? I think most do, I know I do ... however, some enjoy the seal clubbing, some enjoy the unicorn - a rare good match, some enjoy the P2W vs P2W high end clan battles, some enjoy a match or 2 a day and move one with RL ... there is a little piece left I think people enjoy that keep them around an obvious battleground where $$$ gets you to the top. I still haven't quite figured out why I still bother honestly ... probably because A. I hope someday it will change, at it's core it is an enjoyable game B. $$$/time already sunk into it ... I'm P2SR - pay 2 stay relevant Does anyone miss the days when the game was not pay-to-win war robots? I never lived it, but reading comments most people miss it. Hate to see you go man ... you sound like the rare skilled player from the early days and I understand your frustration. This guy does - war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/post/582140/thread

If I had a time machine, I'd go back to 2014. Sadly, I joined the month Rhino was born. It wasn't that bad then, but it was going downhill. I mean, if you've never seen 6 Rhinos spawn rush Yamantau, then you don't know. I didn't have crazy leveled gear then - it was maybe 6-8 and I went up against 12's.
It's safe to say the game NEVER changed. It was ALWAYS like this. It may be easy for some to forget, but I don't.

I’m pretty much at the door myself: at this point, I find that 9 games out of 10 are exercises in frustration, and I just don’t have the room or the time for an entertainment that is so often an irritating waste of time, I will ‘finish up’ the current event and operation, get my first Champions League chest, and I expect that’ll do me. Not saying I’ll never be back, but I’ll probably never play as much in the future as I did in the past.
For one thing, there’s Battle of Titans. That has turned into a helluva fun game, compared to the initial release, and it’s very much like the game you describe Walking War Robots as being at the beginning (I came around between the Wild Bunch and Camelot). No magic involved, no wish-fulfillment superpowers, the weapons are guns, rockets, and EMP. The bots are incredibly fun, and there’s little overlap between the, and the selection is small. I’ve played close to 200 games in the 12 days, and it’s a thrill each time.
There’s an active thread here about it, from War Robots players who are playing BoT.
You might find it right up your alley.

The increasing levels of P2W has significantly transformed the game. It introduced more weird and OTT equipment while sidelining tactics and strategy. The way the MM-er allocates teams where one guy will score 4M and the other 600K makes it a shambles in competitive terms. Thats like mixing teams composed of high school soccer kids with professionals playing in the highest of leagues. If pix asks for thousands of $ than the return on investment has to be appreciated by most. That means lack of balance. Then when the MM-er starts pushing you down then have a few heavy losses and then the wins start coming in again.
On the flip side, it is fun piloting robots, shooting and destroying reds and it is fun running around in a small squad. it is also fun to try new equipment. However outcomes are determined mostly by how much one spends and how good the persons investment decisions were in therms of acquiring and upgrading equipment. The skill required to optimally use (more or less) a bot or weapon is easy to learn and easy to master. For example, with the new module coming out you dont even have to press a magic button to save your arse. It does it for you as long as you pay.A scorpion needs no strategy to bypass an empty space and engage.
This is now a clubbing game largely devoid of strategy and tactics. The disparity between players which is also aided by the MM-er creates an environment where mainly spenders get to club. The more you spend and the better decisions you make the more you get to club.
What this game used to be and what it is now is uncomparable in terms of P2W effects.

I feel the same way at moments, but keep chugging on. I started playing in the fall of 2014 and feel like the game was at its best before the introduction of of the dash bots. That’s when Pix really started pushing power and threw balance out the window.
I, myself was considering throwing in the towel prior to the iOS/Android server merger. Games were really rough. Match after match getting clubbed by Uber-clans. Fun, close matches were really the exception.
Things have improved since the server merger. The rough matches seem to be the exception, rather than the norm. Matchmaking does seem improved from my own perspective. My biggest concern today is for the player base. As much as I’m enjoying the game, there has to be all sorts of lower level players who are getting the beat down and growing tired of it. My fear is that Pix’s policy of selling power and nerfing previous content will cause more players to leave the game, thus shrinking the player base and bringing us back to horrible matchmaking and the very rare great game.

I'm a yes and no. While I feel the newer bots are heavily favored over the old smart use and knowing when to engage and when not to can certainly help. My Hangar is far from Meta, with the most recent release bot being the Tyr and not ever going down the Ares, Ao Jun or Leech path. Bulwark, Lancelot, Raven and Falcon round out the group. Don't get me wrong. Some games are an absolute white wash. But usually I manage to hang in there. I don't charge in alone, I use the tazers on the Raven and Vipers on the Bulwark at a bit of range and usually drop the Titan in 3rd for its heavy hitting. The only bot I usually just charge with is the Lance(only MK2 bot) with Glacier and Igniters. The others all have to 'dance' to stay alive. I try to keep away from most of the new meta bots and support my team as they go head to head with them. OPs hanger looks very heavy on brawl weapons. IMO unless you have the latest meta and at good levels relying on brawling is very hard.

I joined just before Leeches were introduced.
As a newbie I could by either a Lancelot (for a few dollars) or Ao Jun (for a hundred or so dollars?). From being fodder in my previous bots, my Ancilot steamrolled everyone in the lower leagues. It was a joke. So I grew up very used to "joke" level power disparity.
My Lancelot soon started dying to strange bots called Leeches. They were barely discernible on my tiny 4" iPhone screen, and repulse ability often gave almost no indication it was active.
One thing that this game used to have and doesn't anymore is it used to run well on my phone - without lag.
When I dodged a bullet, I dodged it. When I landed a shot, it landed. - That is no longer the case.
I'm playing for as long as I'm playing but I don't want to chase the carrot down the broken glitchy rabbit hole anymore.

Pay-to-winners are too overpowered for the game to be fair anymore. Does anyone miss the days when the game was not pay-to-win war robots, but robot chess Walking War Wobots (Walking War Robots)? It’s a p2w game at the top so if you wanna compete in Champions League War Robots you really do need to at least dolphin up and buy premium on the reg. Even so it’s more abt weapons and you can grind it out F2P if you focus. All your bots can still do well but your weapon setups are a mess besides the hades. It looks like you don’t play that much. That’s just my impression correct me if I’m wrong. If you just want to play a balanced mech game there’s still 6 pack and BoT is really well balanced and doesn’t have any ridiculous p2w powers altho it’s more a realistic style whereas War Robots is arcade style. I can relate to everything u said about the game and I can play thru all the ridiculousness but for me it’s the constant lag and the extreme OP titan play that has made the game trash.

Here is my 2 cents and I have been playing about as long. I think people tend to forget some of the OP builds from back in the day. When a new old school bot was released the haves dominated the have nots. And tanking and seal clubbing was way more of an issue in my opinion back then than now. Whole clans, it seemed, would tank massively prior to events because prized were awarded based on “kicking butt”. I can remember when there were swarms of Lancelots and hangers had 4 or five or them. The fricken Aphid Patton was a beast along the the Gerard with Aphids. When the Orkan came out it was kick butt and I hated when I went against a Rog loaded with them. Then dash bots, Spectres, Ares, etc, etc. It does frustrate me but I just move along and normally just lag the meta. I have a strong hanger not because of P2W but because I have been playing so long. Most of the bots and weapons remain viable enough that I can hang in there until I can acquire a meta weapon and upgrade it. I have paid for Ops Passes because I believe they are a good value and do get the occasional $1.99 Au deals so I am not totally f2p. Rolled up into a nutshell I enjoy the game because I enjoy mech battles. With MM you are going to to win some and lose some. I do truly enjoy the close ones and would rather lose a close match than win a wipe-out match. Bottom-line is I really believe not much has changed overall between the haves and have nots - just the gear is more sophisticated. It is only a game and nor real life so if it is not fun then it is best to move on as life is short (especially for us collecting social security!) I hope you, and everyone who moves on, the best.. As for the rest of you - see you on the battlefield!

I don't see this as a pay-to-win game.
People pay based on impatience ... so you buy a new robot or weapon, then you feel in a rush again to level up so you pay again for Ag. The cycle never stops.
I've been playing on and off for 4 years, have made a purchase. My win rate ranges from 50% at the lowest to 70% at the highest. I'm not an exceptional player, and I get smoked instantly by meta bots like Juns, Ares and Leeches. I'm running level 8-11 MK1 bots and weapons. Natasha, Leo, Griffin, Stalker, Thunders, Punishers, Aphids, Avengers, Sparks, Magnums. So when I see meta bots on the field I know I simply need to hang behind the meta bots on my team and support them. That is why I avoid short range weapons like Galciers, Rime, Tarans, Orkans.
I should also mention I'm sitting on 109M Ag and 7K Au, I haven't upgraded or purchased anything new for a long time. I only upgrade the Ming but I'm going to stop that pretty soon too.
EDIT: how can you fault Pixonic for wanting to make money? If you invented / made and sold a good product, wouldn't you want to profit from it? What does Pixonic owe you to let you play for free?

Many games make big profits without over selling power.

There are people here who have been playing this game since the forums first opened and still stuck with sub-Level 9 equipment (mostly old) spread over multiple hangars due to financial reasons.
I'm an extremely skilled player who buys things they like, and with only one working hangar almost all my bots are still Level 9 or less - even after almost a year of playing this game. I do like to play with and keep swapping multiple bot types though.
There are players that have multiple maxed Titans and the very latest MK2 Level 12 gear in each hangar. Some already have it at MK2 Level 12 on the day of it's release.
I have to keep beating those MK2 Level 12 / Level 150/25 players with Level 9 bots and I can't even afford to properly level my weapons yet, let alone bots.
Those newest bots / max Titans tend to be brokenly overpowered in skilled hands too.
It seems I'd be far better off getting another job and using the money to buy in-game currency, than grinding for entirely inadequate (with the amount of time I spend playing) in-game resources.
No amount of money has fixed the lag regardless.

You don’t see it as a p2w game yet you can’t win a metagame match without hiding behind paying players. See the contradiction? Asking for a balanced game is not an unreasonable request. Many games make big profits without over selling power. See Pixonic relies on that drive to become a meta player. I'm perfectly fine with supporting the meta bot / weapon team mates. They're dealing with the meta red bots, I'm running around trying to cap beacons. [shrug] They don’t rely on that drive, they prey on it. So you think it’s ok that the yearly price of being a meta player is more expensive than the average car lease? You are fine being a f2p player, that’s totally cool, but the game is p2w.

don't chase the Meta.
i used too want all the Top Gear just so i could play an dominate.... then my Win rate went Up started Climbing and get Matched with Players i no business playing against (hangars usally a league or 2 below me) this got old quick.
with the Newer Bots and their abilites the game felt like it had a Easy Mode (alot of people like the easy Mode) so i Stopped playing for almost 4months.
i started playing again but decided i would not Use the Easy Mode Bots or restrict myself by not using weapons i hated (yes i'am looking ag you Shocktrain, still have not used it to this day) and would go for a Weekly Hangar Change up. i also decided i would only level Bots to 9 and weapons to level 10. i only Run the New Bots for a Couple days then go back to what was in my Hangar.
sure running the weekly hangar is not the Most AG Practical or AU efficiant way to play with Pilots, Modules or etc. but 「fluffernutter」 it .... i Enjoy the Game More then Back Then.
full disclosure: not every Bot in my Weekly Hangar is Changed, my Rayker has a Perma Spot as it is my Titan Killer. also Since Most Weapons i use are now leveled to 9 or 10 i started taking certain ones to 11 an will Max out a Handfull of them.
for now i still like playing but once it starts to feel like Work i will be done with War Robots.

Indeed. The game is awful. I completely agree with the titan business as well. Titans are insanely overpowered, and the nodens just made it even more unbalanced. I agree that my hangar is mostly a mess, it just says what I face after playing so many years. I cannot save up for matching weapons because every time I try to think I can do it, pixonic then just adds another robot which will kill me every time unless I get a counter to it. This is the hangar I was planning to have: Ao Jun 2x nucleon Leech 4x scourge Phantom Yan-di corona 2x shredder Ares 2x cryo, 2x gust Hades Calamity 2x spark Ao ming 2x tsar 2x retaliator This game defines UNbalanced. I have been playing for longer than Adrian Chong. Compare my hangar to one of his. The game would have at least been tolerable if all these in-app purchases were removed completely, and the robots left as is without any nerfs. That should have made everyone Chong-like actually spend effort to save up for components, running out of silver to do upgrades in the process. Gold should be earned, platinum too. And remove these idiotic modules!! I fee like all my effort has been futile. Extremely futile. I spend months saving up for the legendary phantom pilot, for example. Doesn't do much when confronted by a MK2 level 12 leech with maxed out scourges, the legendary pilot and 3 last stands. There was an incredibly small amount of P2Ws in the early days. Look how much there are now. Look at Adrian for example. Spends tons of money on the game, and I seriously don't see the enjoyment in running around in Mk2 ravanas tearing everything to pieces. The best era of Walking War Robots was the era in which death from friendly fire was possible, and people just went by the name 'Pilot'. If anyone here is a hacker, greatly appreciated and well done. Every match seems like playing against cheaters. I appreciate people who turn these cheaters into fodder with death star weylands. What is also idiotic about pixonic is their policies. I mean, did you see some updates on their facebook page? The worst one was about leagues. They count any deliberate loss in a match cheating! Well, pix, I cheated every hour I played! I do not appreciate being pitted against Pay-to-winners. And I love cheating, and seriously it is understandable to commit an atrocity, cheat, a death crime, and leave he game when an MK2 leech is barreling down on you with half of its health bar taken up by a last stand (I've seen that once) I love cheating. Cheating like that enables me to stay in master league, and the only reason I got in there was because infrequently I do not face pay-to-winners. Same thing as leeches and ao juns, but still no last stand and everything. As such, even my ao guang made short work of them. And cheating makes the matches fairer for me and enables me to stay out of champion league, where the pay-to-winners hang out. Also, pixonic loves to preach sentiments about how it blocks people who do 'non-sport like behaviour' by hacking or even cheating like I do. Hey, seems like pixonic invented a verson of 'shirts' and 'skins' yet again. The game of Fodder entails two types of people: the Purifiers, buffed up, turbo-charged, psycho robots running around and making short work of the Fodders. What kind of sport is that? Pixonic preaches fairness? Well, first make the game fair, and maybe clever people will stop hacking and lashing out against the Purifiers. Skill enabled me to destroy Mk2 ravanas with cryos simply by virtue of phantom speed. But these hackers just give the pay-to-winners like Adrian a taste of their own medicine! Anyone seen videos of the hacked weylands? Pixonic needs to first make the game fair and make it like a sport! Seriously, what a bunch of lowlifes. Engulfing people's money and making the game idiotic. Pixonic needs to do these things if the game is to be fair and to prevent people leaving: ABOLISH ALL MODULES, both active and especially passive. Especially last stand, phase shift, anticontrol and shieldbreaker ERADICATE all in-app purchases. STOP preaching idiotic junk on their facebook which directly contradict their actions STOP nerfing robots REMOVE the ravana and scrap all plans of the Scorpion REVERT nerfs to Ares, Hades and Nemesis REMOVE the second legendary ao jun pilot. OR make it into a legendary pilot for the now severely underpowered Ao Qin STOP introducing new robots for at least a year STOP funding certain individuals with gold and silver, including myself when I payed once ABOLISH all plans for titan modules Did I forget anything? I am going to youtube now to support War Robots aka Purifiers and Fodder hackers with likes and bolstering comments

I don't see this as a pay-to-win game. EDIT: how can you fault Pixonic for wanting to make money? If you invented / made and sold a good product, wouldn't you want to profit from it? What does Pixonic owe you to let you play for free? Thatâ??s a great defense of / excuse for everything from murder for hire to slavery to private armies to selling poisoned baby food.... How can one criticize them for wanting to make money? Just because their business plan requires stealing your children, using your back yard for a toxic waste dump, murder for fun and profit? We all need to make MONEY, right? Itâ??s like I used to tell telemarketers: yeah, youâ??re just â??doing your jobâ? - but itâ??s a ?dookie?ty ?fluffernutter?ing job, it doesnâ??t *have* to be done, and you donâ??t HAVE to do it. â??Will no one think of the poor extortionists, the liars, the swindlers?!? Just trying to put food on the table for their FAMILIES?!?â?? I donâ??t chase the meta, or anything like it - I just want to enjoy a good game: and 7 out of 10 matches, by two minutes in I've lost three bots, have no kills, and have 100% chance of making no difference in the outcome of the match. Might as well play the slots...*that* at least might PAY OUT someday. I donâ??t know how you do math, but for me thatâ??s not a game - tho Iâ??m sure some seal-clubbers like clubbing seals better than anything else...maybe even lay bets on how fast they can lock down the field. Russian roulette, with only ONE empty chamber: feeling â??skillfulâ? yet, comrade? Youâ??ll win THIS time, for sure! Welcome to the Carnival!

I empathize with your sentiment but I’m running a theoretically much weaker hangar than you right now and I’m doing fine at 8k cups. Your hangar could instantly be much better just switching some guns around. You seem more focused on losing than winning. Your proposals for balance are just never gonna happen and if they did the game would die from no cash flow. It’s also extremely ironic how u want to revert the nerfs to ares even tho that was one of the most p2w OP bots ever released.

If there is anything this forum taught me well that I wasn't completely committed to, it was if there is something that makes me mad enough to actually rant about instead of complain, it's time to move on. This game is NOT the War Robots that I started playing. But I still find fun in it. If you can't do the same, then maybe try and find something else to spark that Joyfire that burns in your belly making you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Right now my Lancy Poo still does that for me... so... I am still playing. More than I have in a while to be honest. I did take a break for a while after I first got upset with them. I came back with the attitude of playing the game I wanted and not what Pix prefers and it's worked. The first step is to understand it's NOT a competitive game unless you are maxed or close. S clan squad battles are a blast to watch. I will never be there, though. I like to use Loki to try and top my max beacon record at the cost of damage, for instance. I like to use an all TDM hangar and play TDM to test weapon configs and new ideas for tactics... etc. Win rate? What's that? Fair fight? I don't play that game. I play War Robots. Adapt and Overcome was my motto in life, and once I applied it to this game as well, it's been fun again. Nothing like taking out a max META bot with a freaking 1.12 Lance with several METAs behind, non Mk2 weapons. No matter what my win rate is, that battle is a win for me. Perspective is everything. If yours is completely dark, find what lightens things up again and pursue that. ***This has been an unsolicited advice post by ???48... no level of expertise or enlightenment is intended or implied. Look at this. Pixonic claiming elaborate scruples of information for themselves, a stupid rules in a completely unfair game. Anyone reading considering starting to play- don't. The game is just not worth it
