B.o.T - Battle of Titans

Hell, yeah! That ought to be a blast to play: I have a T2 Shon & Mite, and they are terrific fun, super deadly and amazing. I haven’t actually run stock arms on Nelly: put 2 Stings on, that was fun, currently 4x Manglers, but even when I’ve been blown out fast, the effect is like a fast-moving theme park ride: “that was great - let’s do it again!!!”

In just a couple of days I’ve gone from entry-level stock to like 9 bots, from zero payouts to ~200k per round, and zero kills to as many as 4 in a round, and scores over 1100. With the extra beef you’ve got on your hangar, it - and you - ought to do very well - get your Leroy on & have at it!

The destruction of upgrades helped me stop playing B.o.T too, ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48 .

Ravager isn't meta in the current update (not that it matters) - M.A.O. seems to be the superior bot atm.

Every bot seems more than good enough, but some pros consider Mediums the best performers atm (MAO and Cormorant in particular, and Mangler Nelly is considered the best EC grinder), then Heavy Tirpitz, then Lights the worst.

Doesn't matter as everything seems decently good atm except Tormentors.

So the only thing you may want to replace for now are the nerfed Tormentors, until they're reworked. Manglers are very good at <350m and Stings make a great missile build atm.

A Sting nerf is expected in the next update so you may want to have some fun with Stings while you can, and a Nelly can fit 4 of them. (Sting Mite is really good to play, but does less damage.)

I'm definitely not in the meta yet, but I've started playing with top players (and their T3 gear).

I only remember my thrusters being shot off twice so far (once was while I was escorting the huge bot in Steel Convoy, *sigh*), but it may be due to my brawling build which is fighting on the ground a lot.

Even in normal play my Drop Bird hasn't been lasting very long regardless, as I often try to drop in and brawl asap (often taking on too many reds at once).

It's regarded as a suicidal build, but it usually does a fair bit of damage / kills before going down.

I’m gonna play more bot when I’m done with this ops pass. Also waiting on some thumb sleeves I ordered cuz I get sticky joystick every time I’m in an CQC situation and it kinda makes the game unplayable.

Take out the guns, then the legs, then kill. Max EC.

I learned a bit last night...got a squad in with Koko Bop, and I think he hung in for the win....I do not like no spectator view when I’m bot’d out, btw.....anyways, all my gear is T1, and I really don’t play much....my Tirpiz went down so fast, I couldn’t believe it.

The player base is still small, an many of these folks have T3 hangars now.....so, when my hangar melts like that, it reminds me of War Robots, lol.....no real difference, but squading kills me quicker.

Anyways, except no chat or spectator squad play was ok.....just lousy the way BoT does it. They have clans, called Merc or something....I imagine those have chat. Oh, after the squad, I don’t know if Koko left or not, but I couldn’t go again.....showed Koko unplugged......their team play sucks, bottom line....unless on discord comms is my guess

I was sure it was one of our krew, I’m bit very good at keeping player numbers sorted - very glad I got to squad with someone, even if there was no way to follow each other around - or even know where each other was...still, I’m glad you were there. Knowing there was a friend among the friendlies made a surprising difference for me.

I don’t know if they have connection problems on their end, or if there’s just a breakdown in the decision tree (or something), but I get squad requests all the time, and I respond to almost all of them...but the inviter is usually never on line when I get there - or at least shows as disconnected on my screen, same difference...ours was the first squad I’ve ever been part of, in any game.

FWIW v2.6 is supposed to drop this month, and custom games *and* spectator mode are supposed to be in it. Looking forward to watching the battle complete.

I hope you at least had a fun game, that was wild and crazy: got ganged around E & taken out by a pair of Nellies...fortunately, my one remaining bot was...Nelly. Came roaring back and took them both out.

My first dozen games or so, I was just throwing away bots and getting nothing for it: tricky to control the jump-happy little monkeys...but once I started getting payouts, I started picking up post-match offers for upgrades, installing them then jumping back in. Except for one or two games two years ago, y’all have been here for my entire BoT initiation experience so far...all 3 days.

I agree that comms must make a HUGE difference in BoT squad play: the map is SO BIG it’s practically impossible to keep mates on radar, much less in sight. My first drop is a light Shon with radar, so I send him deep into the red zone to reconnoiter for the team...I never managed to get back to you. Sorry I wasn’t there to watch your back. But comms: I know discord is for that, but not sure I’m ready to chew gum while fighting; on a map this size, comms will be essential for any organized play.

The official Discord channel has the developers in their own sub-channel, so I will mention the apparent connection issues there. There was a BoT forum, which Ogre and Deadeye were involved with, but it seems to have evaporated; maybe one of them will show up and let us now what happened to it. (Do I need to do something special to take them, or is it enough to just mention them?)

Thinking about recording my games on the regular...not because I think I’m good at it, but EACH game leaves me with a huge smile on my face, ready to go again: maybe some less-than-excellent play will encourage more folks to try it and see how much fun it is.

I think I lost my last 2 lights trying to take down the T off to the right of E (from your POV)...EMPed that sucker like 4 times before it went down...nope, last one was lost to the two Nellies I took out with my final drop. Tirpitz is one fierce mother...but I have a counterplay in mind...might need upgrades first

Reminds me, I still need to work on my aiming controls, I spend WAY too much time trying to figure out where the ground is so I can jump or counter or something.

Still sticking close to my initial 1000 cups: there is SO much going on in these games. Sometimes I go thru my hangar like I’m throwing popcorn at the movies. I feel like I’m learning a lot...and one of the things I’m learning is that my stuff is all T1. Yes, I ‘bought’ two T2s in offers, but all their upgrades, etc are T1, and I feel I need to up my game. Fortunately the game is quite generous, both with the gear on offer and with the payouts (but that really depends on scoring above 300), so I have all my upgrade slots filled. In a couple of days, I’ll have the EC to do some actual bumping up: I underestimated the payout profile, I thought it would talk me another three days to work up a few million, but I’ve got 4 *now*, so if I can hold off on buying more upgrades, I could have 8-10 by the time the market changes on Friday.

About the upgrades: I’ve been picking up cheap parts when they come up - figuring I’ll need them as new slots open up. I figure they’re expendable, meaning as new slots open up I’ll need to put in T1 bits, or T2 bits if I have ‘em, in order to hit T3 (eventually). The stuff I’ve been grabbing is all stuff I know I’m going to want to improve on the various bots, and snagging them at 75% off seems reasonable. Anybody see any reason not to? Or is there a smarter way?

Parfait, I really want to hand it to you: that Corm is going to take a LOT of practice before I can bring it to a party and not embarrass myself. Made the mistake of taking it out, straight from the box, and I only hope none of the blues could see my massive cluelessness, or how fast it was blown out of the sky.... Care to share how you have yours configured? I believe you said you brawl with yours, and I can see its importance. Every time I take the field, I gain more respect for your level of play.

I had my first taste of Steel Convoy today: that was some brutal 「dookie」. Not at all sure my Light Brigade is up to that challenge...which means I’m going to need to spend more time with my mediums before I hit the street with them. My heart was caught by the lights more that the bruisers, but that doesn’t mean I can do without skills (we all know where that leads). 2.6 is supposed to have custom games, so maybe there’ll be a chance to just wander around and get the feel of handling them more effectively.

ReRoll and I got in a bunch of squadding today, which was hella fun.. A good day.

Oh, that was my first go around with Corm...it seems I suck at flying, even went on discord for help, got laughed at. Seems no practice rooms/custom games in BoT...another thing that needs changed.

Food for thought...seems like we’ve been up against some actual *teams* tonight. That last match I went nowhere at all: don’t know if I needed the comeuppance but I got it anyway.

Hope I wasn’t rude tonight, I have no idea what the dance is when squadding with people you (kinda) know, but thanks for including me. I was playing much better earlier, I promise. Maybe I’ve just had enough for today, late nights catching up w/ me.

I just wasted regular matches trying to learn how to fly my Cormorant (not playing them properly).

I'm currently learning to fly behind cover in order to block enemy weapons and Stings. It's one reason I keep flying so low along the ground.

And it seems that Brawler Cormorants are not popular and considered suicidal. I didn't feel like throwing away my Vulcans away after paying so much for them though. It generally does a lot of damage and dies fast (...which can be useful for grinding >_>).

Stings and Sarisas are a popular Cormorant build right now.

Also, I just upgraded all my Cormorant's T1 stuff to T2, including my T1 Afterburners, which is a very important new upgrade for me as a Cormorant supposedly needs a max acceleration of at least 20m/s in order to dodge Javelins. I've just reached 20m/s and I am keen to try this out. Hopefully it'll let me live longer.

I really need to be able to dodge Stings, though...

I'm also planning to try a different Vulcan setup. Maybe all magazines. Possibly weapon armor but I haven't been getting stripped often yet. Note that Feeding Gears let me fire them again a lot faster, which was really good while learning how to use them.
