I think B.o.T. has become a lot more interesting now that we can freely swap our upgrades. It was very inflexible and maybe boring being stuck upgrading the same setup while fighting in the same maps against the same AI - not knowing if your setup would be any good in the later leagues (and knowing it'd be destroyed if you changed it). Also, I just won my first Steel Convoy and used the EC to help buy my second T2 Cormorant. (I've equipped this one with Stings/Sarisas, xv104 .) My Anti-HEAT Heavy Sting Nelly was such a tank during the Steel Convoy. I like using the small bots but my T1 Mangler Little Shon tends to die before making much of an impact, and my T2 Sting Mite is actually great but has maybe half the firepower of my T2 Nelly. I did enjoy using the Beacon backpack though. ended up dying while I tried to figure out how to stop looking DOWN AT MYSELF...any tips? I'm still learning how to control my camera too. One thing I did was adjust my camera sensitivity so everything is identical. I still need to learn what those controls actually do... Talk to me about the beacons, BTW: I saw them change blue/black/red...sort of (it can be ridiculously hard to get anywhere on that ground...maybe why I’m so in love with the Mite). It's similar to War Robots, except the beacons have no score value and are only good for respawning. If you get inside a beacon area and there's no reds there, you can turn it. If there's reds, they'll need to leave or be killed before you can turn it. You don't need them, but it can be handy to grab one before spawning a super-slow Tirpitz there.

I guess I've been moved into some other league...
The people I'm facing now seem able to a) dodge 100% of my Stings, as well as dodge other weapon types b) laugh off all my non-stop damage against their Light bots c) EMP me for a huge amount of time d) work together as a team to kill me e) launch (multiple) Tirpitzs that can't be disarmed f) camp together and produce massive amounts of near-unending Stings from behind high cover g) completely surround me and fire on me together h) evade my radar / Stings until I get somewhere 300-400m (then refer to point a) i) hit me like they're snipers

Talk to me about the beacons, BTW: I saw them change blue/black/red...sort of (it can be ridiculously hard to get anywhere on that ground...maybe why I’m so in love with the Mite). I had no idea players could swap bits...that’s excellent. I’m much more drawn to the small BoT mechs than to the small War Robots, and my reaction to the trip it’s is kind of my reaction to War Robots titans as well. My Mite is terrific, but it’s going to take a lot of practice to really make use of the little monkey...currently my favorite bot of all time. As I said, Nelly is a must. Given my ‘earnings’ so far, I understand what you mean about the expense of upgrades, but it feels much less extortionate. For one thing, I could stretch 1,000,000ec a long way, I think, and that’s only $5; their premium/VIP offers are less expensive and more enticing than War Robots. I can tell it’s going to be a while before I can rely on battle earnings to build a hangar! The upgrades are super-complex by comparison, which is much more interesting, but I can easily see losing ,y way trying to remember how to balance / augment different bits...I was sure, for example, that I purchased a pair of Mangler armor and installed them, and likewise some medium APFS plate for the Mite, but it’s not there either. I also put 3 leg armor units on Ravager, forgetting that there were other leg options.... Played a few War Robots matches, it feels oddly primitive now. Have a night rest of your night, I’m going to bed

A few random things I picked up on after a day of tinkering and reading thru the discord.
Tormentors got nerfed too hard and nobody uses them now, they’re likely to get rebalanced in future update
Torm nerf made corms less viable. Brawler corms get wrecked by lights and other brawlers. Sarisa/sting is the preferred setup.
Sting nelly is one of the best meta builds. mangler mites are the counter.
bully is fun but lacking firepower. works with sarisa/beacon. Pretty good harasser.
for armor either go fast and light or slow and heavy, then match ur weapon and other parts to that load out. For example, slow you need more weapon armor, fast you can get away without it. slow you want more hardening, fast better with stealth.
mags and reinforced ammo combos are most common for weapons, accelerators for legs. add armor for all parts on a brawler
There’s no true best setup once you know what you’re doing, everything is pretty well balanced so tweak your load out to match your play style

BoT discord has a sub channel for those looking to squad with other players.....have you checked out their discord yet? Discord sez I cant check it out unless I want to start something...just created an account, but that’s not enough. I’m going to go back and rewatch Xalthy’s showcases, I think I grabbed too much at once, don’t have coin to waste, not even earned game coin. Need to be sure of what I’m spending on what - and why

Eh. I just reinstalled it after being away from it for about a year. I had forgotten what an utter kluge the whole upgrading process is. As soon as I opened it I was instantly reminded of what drove me to delete it the last time - the general atmosphere of the game just comes across as very unappealing and uninviting. Deleted without playing a game.
I’ve come to the sad conclusion that every one of these mech games just suck. For one reason or another, or many, they all suck.

You have some valid points, Danny.....as with all games, not all games tickle all fancies..... The level of ones addiction to games also comes into play. BoT is better now, and Stings(missiles) are OP atm....give those a try on Mite or Nelly, it is fun climbing all over everything with those! Id War Robots spider bots did that, everyone would have some in their hangar...but Pix is more into unkillable blink assassins, not tactical shooting.....idiots.....

I had been playing it since it first went into Beta. Then kept playing for several months after it went live, through numerous updates. I’m quite familiar with how everything works; I just don’t happen to like it. As soon as I started it up after reinstalling I remembered why I didn’t like it. Yeah, it’s got some cool stuff, but not enough to overcome the tedium of the grind required to upgrade anything, especially still having only two maps. I was a huge supporter of BoT from the time it was first announced until I stopped playing it. I finally conceded that it’s not everything I had hoped it would be, and just not for me. So lol, ok, thanks for YOUR input.

That did the trick: thank you! UPDATE TO ADD: I’ve started getting EC payouts, apparently no soup if you score less than 500 or something. I’ve completed a match without meching out. I even made 3 kills in one match. And the market delivered a T2 Lil Shon, so...I’ve been having a blast. This is so much more fun than that other game.... ?

Near-full sensitivity with no exponent or inertia seems to be doing the trick for me personally, on my iPhone. I can look around the map rather easily now. Still messing around with good control placement. They can be adjusted to fit the natural positioning of your fingers, even while half asleep... (I've since moved the UP/DOWN flight controls right next to the flight button) Also, if I can get a T2 Tirpitz off the Black Market (instead of upgrading my T1 Tirpitz) it would save me a bit of EC...

To my shock I wasn't earning anything when I first started playing too. I seem able to get a lot of EC now.

(I've since moved the UP/DOWN flight controls right next to the flight button) Also, if I can get a T2 Tirpitz off the Black Market (instead of upgrading my T1 Tirpitz) it would save me a bit of EC... That’s a great tip about the control placement: my thumb seem to naturally fire the left weapon.... Not having so much issue with the camera angle anymore - mostly because I’m getting used to bring the focus back to ground level, but it still gets tricky. I have a hangar now: The T2 Shon was a lucky break - as was the Nelly. I like them both a lot! *And* the Mite.... Not shown is another Shon, a T1 w/ Tormentors, and Hammer MAO. The more I play this game, the better I like it. Yes, the upgrading is a trial to my ancient brain, and I’m sure I’ve bought some things more than once, but as EC mounds up, I’ll begin to T2 all the things. I’ve played more in the last 24 hours than I have since BoT was released, and every game is better than the last, win or lose. These bot are just crazy wonderful, the action is hot and heavy, and these critters are just more damn fun than any of the Mail.ru stuff, hands down. Very much a more satisfying experience all around. I get the frustration some feel with BoT, ‘cause it feels VERY different, but I spent years writing software, and there was never a complex program written that couldn’t be immensely improved by a complete rewrite: designing, building, and testing something so rich and complicated frequently teaches you *HOW* you meant to do it in the first place, and a clean-sheet redesign is usually a good idea...but almost never does a first version get pulled and replaced by the better, cleaner, more dependable design that comes out of the learning curve of the first project...but these guys have done it. This is definitely the big kids version: where War Robots is predictable and irritating, BoT is expansive, unpredictable, exhilarating. Once I began to be able to control the bots & manage the device (iPad 2016), I began to have really stunning games: population is an issue, not so many players, but DAMN! In one, my Ravager got ruined, nothing left but legs, and this Nelly found me running around, trying to find reds to interfere with, and it wrapped itself around me, shielding me from further wreckage. My payouts have gone from zero to low six figures, I even came in first in that last game.... War Robots was *never* this much fun! I owe y’all for reminding me about this game....

I think there’s one other major jump at like 1400 or 1500, but I don’t remember. There’s more minor gradation between leagues.

Yeah, Koko Bop, I'm really liking B.o.T. now. Much improved than before. Cormorants are free for EC instead of paid now too. And the random squads can still be small, but sometimes they're huge too. I'm liking the Black Market drops after a match too.
And thanks, someoldman. I may have went over 1250 trophies for a while. I'm back down to 1,168 trophies atm.
I kinda want to run a Fast (possibly Light) Tirpitz for the moment, when I can afford to do it. Heavy T1 Tirpitz is still slow with Accelerators.
