So I rolled out my Pulsar/Shredder Tyr today. Weps are lvl 9 and the Tyr is 8-9. I like the x-tra 300 honor for hangin' with the posse. I can't always choose a useful time to drop, but it's pretty cool. I still haven't been able to hire Sigrun yet so I'm using Wodenson so I can level him for my Fenrir. Most of my battles today were pretty harsh. First, the death squads were out, then I kept getting paired with do-nothings and now I have to get used to my Tyr. I'm still down to 36% win rate, but I'm climbing back to Champ due to the extra honor from repair. Oh yea, I switched out my Leech for the Tyr. Not really missing it. war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/42905/love-tyr-2

Tyr is fast becoming one of my favorites.
Find a mate in battle, especially a Phantom running around, look for the beacon they leave, wait, then hit them with the burst heal when they reappear,
I run Punisher's on mine.

Yeah, love mine. Runs best behind an Arthur - some extra protection from that fat butt and lots of healing possible. Also, the Arthur won’t out run you! Mines fully maxed and in the right situation a beast... Enjoy

I really want to start leveling and using my Tyr! Maybe I'll pause my Sting upgrades for a few days and switch to the Tyr. I've been playing around with load outs in my mind but haven't really settled on anything. I could retire my Ares and everything just moves over - but my Ares is great for hunting Ao Juns. I run it with Cryos/Rimes but running it as a brawler while I bring it to L9 is probably not a good idea. There's the trusty Taser build of course and I'll likely start with that. Or maybe I'll throw my Hydras and Spirals on it just for laughs!

To OP: I like my Tyr too. I won a Nightingale and I can't bring myself to replace my Tyr with it. I run Punishers or a Punisher/Shredder mix on it and it does pretty well. I drop it usually around the time Titans start spawning, as they are doubly useful for a healer: lots of HP to regenerate, and a bit wall to hide behind lol

A high level Tyr is actually one of the bots I don't like coming up against..... unless I'm in my Glacier Bulwark.

Not having any luck with my Tyr so far, perhaps because it's only level 4. I keep getting too late to teammates to heal and when I do I often find myself outnumbered by reds and taken out. So far my timing with this bot is way off. It also doesn't help the weaponry I have for this bot are 'meh', coronas are ok but cannot stand gusts after the nerf.

My coronas took a noticeable hit. I gotta find replacements for the ones on my Leech.

Tyr has become a mainstay in my staring lineup also. I run Cryos + Rimes, and despite the reports to the contrary, I think Tyr can brawl pretty well. Fewer Coronas & Storms works to the Tyr's favor, but Ao Jun & machine-gun bearing Ming's are a big problem as Tyr isn't super speedy.
@pacifist get your Tyr to 9 or 10 before dropping it into live play. I got mine to 1.12 before really trying to gauge its efficacy. The legendary pilot is a big plus, as are the skills & modules you choose. It's worth the effort.

Thanks for tips, Browncoats4ever and Blurred Vision . I definitely rushed it out to get the feel for it, but it's too weak. What do you guys think of "hot&cold" build for Tyr, cryos plus blazes? I know I probably need longer range with Mings flying about, but the only alternative for me would be something build around the marquesses that I have.

For a long time, I ran a Hussar/Marquees Tyr...that is a fun, fun build! Cannot count how many times I got the ENTIRE RED TEAM to stop and hunt me down, especially on maps like Yam and Springfield. I would suggest against short range set-ups, due to the physical shield. Lots of weapons can bypass it. Currently running Tulsa...having a blast! It is shocking how good it can be...

I don't know about Blaze, the only flamethrower I run is Ember so far. They seem good from what I've read.

I like my baby Tyr too... it is fast becoming a top 5 of all time for me. The honor for healing has been a big boon. I get more out of this than I do the Mender or Nightingale.

The ice weapons do damage and weaken the red, then fire roasts them good. It takes a bit of practice to aim as the flames & rockets have different lines of fire. That can be tricky if hunting a fast bot like a Loki or Phantom. Hopefully you get enough rockets into the target to slow 'em down, then light 'em up.

I had a Tyr doing this exact same thing for me this morning. We were killing it. I forgot to look at their pilot tag but whoever it was deserves a beer on me.

It would for me if I had any of those weapons mentioned above. Did you guys ever watch the movie Apollo 13? The one scene in particular where when facing emergency repairs they see what components they have and come up with duck tape, sock and plastic bag? Well, that's my situation on almost every build.

I think the biggest tip I can give for all aspiring Tyr drivers is to get used to the modes and when to use them.
Remember, when you only have 2 weapons out you are in Support Mode, your shield is contracted but you are doing a steady, passive heal to any Blues in range.
The "Assault" mode, when all weapons are available, also extends the shield so that you can get at least a little protection as you light up whatever target you can go after. I tend to focus on bots with energy weapons if possible to get the most out of the shield.
Anyway, I try to move around from location to location in Support Mode as it gives you a bit more speed... and then change modes right before contacting the enemy. Switching back to Support Mode will send out the healing burst so I try to do that when there are blues around to benefit, if at all possible. It takes a little getting used to... but once you do it becomes second nature. I gotta say the cooldown on that mode change is perfect. Not long enough to be useless in a brawl but not so short that you can spam it unfairly.
IMO, YMMV

How are the Scourges workin' for you? Do you have difficulty with random target changes? So far so good... I make good use of the manual target locking when dealing with multiple Reds... and while it has its glitches... for the most part it works well enough for me to leave them on. To quantify that, I have had several games in a row where there were no issues, and then one of maybe 8 or 9 games I will have even a manually locked target go awry even with it directly in my crosshairs... but it really isn't enough to worry over for me. The fact that they are some of my only level 12 weapons also plays a part , but overall, with the Shredders in play, too, they are a good combo. I don't know about after they change the Shredders though... as the lock down is the main reason for using them. I will prolly put Sparks on if/when that happens. At least until I finally get a couple of Rimes to go with my 3 Cryos. IMO, YMMV

Stick with your teammates whenever possible, I see way too many going it alone and getting smoked when they could have helped. Probably leads to many dropping the bot as well because they think it sucks but rather it was their dumb piloting, had this happen to a clanmate. He said he wanted to sell the tyr because it was "useless", I told him to stick directly next to me when we were squadding and he ended up keeping it.

Love the Tyr (Got an Ancient one) as well and wanted players opinion on a Wasp/Sting build. Got the requisite parts but don’t have them fully upgraded. Thinking of upgrading it for my TDM hanger when I squad with my clan. Any merits beyond the aesthetic coolness?

Shredder-Pulsar is a good build. I just switched to Shredder-Punisher and I'm enjoying it although it took a little getting used to. Have Sharpshooter and Speedshooter equipped, but the latter is only because it was instantly assigned when I promoted my pilot. I imagine I'll switch it out soon for another defensive skill, but first I'm levelling it fully to see how much of a difference it makes. I'm a bit worried about the effect of lockdown change might have on the Shredders for this build. Overall the change seems good, but I wonder how many rounds of fire you'll need to lockdown a red when you're only using 2 Shredders.

I tried that rig, and ditched the Wasps - not that they’re *bad*, their overall speed/handling doesn’t sync well with the Stings IMO: Scourge/Shredder & Scourge/Sting are better setups.
Currently running Scourges 2.5/Sting 10/Shredder 9 - “kills bugs daid!”

Thinking of upgrading it for my TDM hanger when I squad with my clan. Any merits beyond the aesthetic coolness? If they are upgraded enough, that weapon set ( especially the Wasps) definitely has its uses... with all the DR bots out there. Please note that this is more of a Niche support build than a Brawler build... or even a general MR support build... so keep that in mind. Personally... I would use that build in the latter half of a TDM (since that is what you had in mind for it) game as it can do a number to Titans (that tend to have DR) while you stick with your Blue Titans providing that much needed green goodness. It also can hurt Leeches and Falcons and Fenrir's and Phantoms and other DR bots, to a decent degree... from a pretty safe distance. TL;DR: Best build? Prolly not... but useful if leveled high enough.IMO, YMMV
