I was going to open a thread on a 5th slot rant and found this one....let me add my voice to the plea for expert and up players to get that 5th slot. I'd like to second boomsplat's rant here. If you're trying to get into Expert and still have 4 slots you're doing your teammates a disservice. I'm currently in Diamond I and in Diamond 2 and 3 I've seen many players (both reds and blues) at about 4 slots. At this level I understand, but as you go up in league rankings you have to get that 5th slot... Not having the 5th slot changes your perception and your ability to actively participate in winning. I have 5 slots (play up front knifers) and am usually one of the first to mech out. The 4 slot ones that beat me to meching out first are usually 4 knifers.... the ones that can last longer than me are the ones with a mid-ranger, but there they sit in their TT Fury or Zeus Carnage way way too long. They subconsciously know that if they switch/run knifers they'll get chewed up pretty quickly so they sit in range way too long. Those are the battles you look at afterwards and knew there was nothing you could do to actually win. The handicap was too severe on your side. The worst are the ones with 2 Lancelots or a Lancelot/Fury and only 4 slots.... sigh they get my goat (as I don't have either yet). Dejnov. I like to add a comment here. People are freeloader like me they don't fill up their gold with wallet. they probably most likely get gold majority from task daily. 5000 gold is a steep price by the time they save up that much end up using buying weapons instead, because having 5 slots lol... let be honest its kinda of boring... I remember when I had 3 slots i saving up for two orkans then 4th slot after.

I will add that I worked for my fifth slot without paying for it also. I estimate that if all you can earn is the 60 Au from quests daily it'll take 80 days to do it. If you actually earn gold from winning it'll be a little slower, but not by much. I earned my lancelot the same way. Slowly. It helps if you don't waste your Au from leveling and speeding up upgrades, and the events, like right now, are some of the best ways to work to that fifth slot (I myself have gotten nearly 1200 Au recently and I still work full time). I went ahead and just paid for the 5th slot outright. It's the best investment I've made in the game, by far. My win rate rose a steady 10-15% as soon as I had that 5th slot.

I don't know about others but I am getting totally fed up with pilots with hangars of 3 or 4 high level/maxed out bots. Lately I have been in a number of matches where blue were well on top beacon wise then all of a sudden we are down to 3 vs 6 bots because pilots have meched out. After eventually losing the game (usually as last man standing against 6 reds) I check the team scores to find everyone on blue team is running hangars of 3 or 4 high level bots versus reds all with hangars of 4 or 5. Getting that 5th slot should be made compulsory or something. I do not have any gold bots. Mine are all silver or wsp bots with level 7 or 8 weapons. I spent weeks grinding away to get that 5th slot whilst others obviously spent their gold on bots. Come on people, surely that 5th slot is the most important purchase! What do others think? I'm not going to buy the 5th slot until after I buy a pair of each gold weapon. Edit: The way I play will make a 5th slot pointless. I'm almost always the first pilot to "mech out" out of all 12 players unless my teammates are covering me and we're winning... but usually, I am in spectator mode for at least 3 minutes.

I find it funny that anyone can claim their win/loss rate depends on the number of slots one has. I'm running an average win rate of 68% at the moment with four slots and have been averaging 58% for two days straight before that. But that is an arbitrary number that will soon change depending far more on the quality of my randomly picked teammates and opponents and what gear I choose to run at any particular time. The funny thing is my damage average is down to less than 150k and my kill average is down to 1.0. Please explain how my win average is what it is based on that information. Lately(event festival) I've been seeing large numbers of full hangers running 10-12 equipment in matches where by all rights there should be nothing greater than 9s or 10s. I suppose that translates into diamonds-champions running with us silvers and golds but I despise the current ranking system. It's utter cr*p. But back to my subject. Because of these supposedly high ranked players annihilating us lesser upgraded players or tanking or destroying themselves before an opposing player can do so it is completely skewing the win/loss rates of many players and preventing players from achieving tasks in a timely manner. So my win/loss percentage is completely artificial at the moment. Oops, I think I just explained what I was referring to earlier. And actually your league ranking is worthless considering that it too is based almost entirely on random elements that you have no personal control over. Your teammates, their equipment, their use thereof, etc,. These things are always changing and makes ranking one as a player virtually impossible. It's ludicrous but for some odd reason I can't fathom people are actually thinking it shows how good a player is. Laughable and sad at the same time. The whole league ranking system is simply worthless based on what it uses to rank players.

4 slots should be suffice in early leagues anything is under kill. If you can just get your weapons upgrade high in your four hangar slots and iron it out upgrade evenly then they're shouldn't be a problem with just having a four slot hangar. I've come to matches where one of my team (probably paid to win) had five slots, one Lancelot and a butch and we still lost!. Probably because he didn't upgrade his weapons across evenly. Unfortunately this kind of logic is flawed. There's always a bot that doesn't do as well as it could on certain maps. Thus you are really playing with a 3 bot hangar. This logic suddenly doesn't seem so logical.

What you just said is the single BIGGEST reason to get that fifth slot. If each 'slot' only equals about 1.75 minutes of game time, then getting the fifth slot will get you from ~ 7 minutes of actionable game time to 8.75 minutes of actionable game time. That gives your team another 1.75 minutes of help and reduces the 6 vs 5 situation to only the last 1 minute or so. In my eyes that's a solid incentive. Dejnov.

Try hanging back and working the ranges of your weapons. Oh, and try to group weapons on your bots to match their ranges as closely as possible along with their reload times if possible or relevant. Don't rush in ahead of others, that makes you a target right off. Spread the love(damage) and don't focus on just one target. And keep your head on a swivel so opposing players don't flank you as easily. You'll see your damage averages go up and you'll last the matches a lot longer.

VectivusI've seen two slot gold league players with 12/12 equipment and better than 60% win averages. The number of slots one has apparently has little to nothing to do with win/loss or league ranking. That's my point. Here's another, one that I made earlier. Your win/loss rate is completely arbitrary. You have no real control and little influence over it. You're thrown into the game with random players with random equipment, random bot numbers because of connection issues and hanger layouts, and random player skills. The matches outcomes are determined by unqualified information and random events. If you get placed with a group of players who ignore beacons or who just aren't good players for a number of runs your win/loss is probably going to drop no matter how well you play personally. But if that 5th slot flips your skirt I say go for it and be happy. I'll just stick with my lowly 4 for a while longer no matter what anyone else wants.

Although that makes sense, logically, I spend too much time walking towards beacons after spawning three times... so that extra time probably wouldn't be useful unless I start using my stalkers which I'm not going to do unless I have beacon tasks to complete.

In even 6v6 six battles hanger depth decides the win 73.4% of the time within 1.5 bot S. I have data for over 700 matches in Android Silver and Gold. If you have the means, the 5th slot is essential. There are countless threads on this, and it has been proven time and time again that it benefits you and your team by having that 5th slot. The only thing that is subjective is the line up of your bots and their load-outs, which unless you are clanning should be whatever you want to have fun playing.

I have had teammates and enemies with only 3 slots do the most damage and/or capture the most beacons because... I assume... they use their bots and weapons effectively and efficiently and they also know how to play each map or certain maps better than most players in Silver league. They probably also pay attention to which weapons the red team is using (I admit, I don't pay attention to that crap and don't care... I don't try to stay out of range of any weapons).

This 5th slot is definitely must have in higher leagues. I'm in silver II league and having 5 slot is not all necessary. I've come to games where one of our team had 5 hangars and we still lost to a team who had only 3 hangars that had high upgrade weapons/bots and made into first place. With the high dps damage, your able to cut the opponent hangar a lot faster thus, giving you a slight advantage.

I'll say that even if it's boring, that 5th slot is likely worth it in the end, but I do get how boring it can be to save up for that long. It's why I finally caved in and paid for it (and was lucky enough to be able to do so).

I'm starting to be of opinion, that having 3 gold bots at high levels before even 4th slot is better for fun. Like 1 Gareth ASAP (to have something to upgrade) and 2 Galahads (or maybe Gala+Rog).
Gary + 2 Galahads at min. level 9 can easily last a low-league battle with even mediocre piloting, thanks to shield and corner shooting. And they will rack up top damage and get top beacons and win low-league matches, while staying alive.
Or, in the event they get wiped out, it was probably a lost cause anyway, so earlier mech-out means getting to next, better battle sooner.
After having the 3 top bots, then it's probably time to get 4th slot, fill it with stock RDB Griffin, and start saving for Lancelot and 2 Orkans. After that, 5th slot (fill with afore mentioned RDB Griffin first, or maybe a Carnage if already got enough Tarans and Mags to spare the WSP). Then it's time to consider furher Gold purchases (probably 2 more Orkans next, then maybe 2 Aphids or 2 Zeus).
Why this way? Because it is *fun* to blast away at inferior big bots with a Galahad or a Gary. And seriously, they do last entire game with just 3 slots for quite high leagues still. Plenty of time to get 4th and 5th slot later.

The last battle I played today was about 8 hours ago at work, and the two top players (one on each team) only had 3 slots. I'm in Silver league where 3 slots is not a hindrance if your bots work for each map. One player (who had 3 kills, 517890 damage, and 1 capture) had Carnage, Galahad and Gareth in his hanger. The other player (who had 7 kills, 719073 damage, and 3 captures) had Gepard, Griffin and Natasha in his hanger. The battle was in the Canyon, btw, and the player using the Natasha slaughtered us.

The cost of the fifth slot is 5k Au.Which takes up a lot of time for a non Au player.
You can't really expect everybody to leave out the fun robots (Rogatka,Gareth) and weapons (Aphids, zeus) to use silver robots and weapons and keep grinding all the way till 5k Au.I agree that spending on paintjobs is a total waste until your hangar can hold it's own againts the reds, but playing with robots that don't match your play style kills the fun.
On a side note,I'm saving Au for the fifth slot and it will take a long time since the event chests ripped me off,so I may buy a Rog if the mm keeps on putting me in tough matches that I don't win gold.Asking players to save during events like the birthday event is understood since they get gold regularly from the matches, but else youre going to have a tough time

Well, you can see with just one eye, right? Why do you need two? Stereoscopic vision is overrated. Unless you are an Ah-64 Apache pilot who uses one eye to see the battle, and another - to operate the vehicle - you are better off with one, so sell another. Also, it is cheaper to get you vision fixed in later age if you are just one eye.

Prolonging on war robot on a small device can twist your vision. What does my statement have any common with your irrelevant statement?. check your vision first, and come back reread the statement carefully.

It is a fruatrating way to lose. For many people saving that long is tough. I went 5th slot first and zero regrets were had. I did the same with my new acc. Took 26 days. Then came the event filling slots with gold bots. Lucky timing. For those that maintain 4 slots meant they have a cool Galahad, I think they're pretty much 1/2 the contributing factor for my win rate and why I like to start with an RDB. Starting a 2nd account from scratch really changed perspectives as I had the hindsight of purchase/upgrade path mistakes. This time round I literally focused my Lv 1-20 upgrading a set of tulumbas, pins, then later Tarans. My first 10 or so bits were simply placeholders to carry those weapons until I got access to bots I know can take me all the way up the tiers. As to the 6000 gold to advance to 4 & 5th slot its not really as slow as most think with gold rewards for advancing levels right up to 30z It was funny however in got my 5th slot I was in Diamond 3 with PDB Griff, RDB Griff, Pinata thunder Leo, Punisher thunder leo and a molot nashorn leo. The event changed my line up considerably but I'm sure I can still dust off an all Silver/WSP hangar and achieve similar results. Having a 5th slot can effectively give you 2x 4 slot hangars for both big open or cqb maps.

Well, you can see with just one eye, right? Why do you need two? Stereoscopic vision is overrated. Unless you are an Ah-64 Apache pilot who uses one eye to see the battle, and another - to operate the vehicle - you are better off with one, so sell another. Also, it is cheaper to get you vision fixed in later age if you are just one eye. alright Mr chump, speaking of yourself getting your vision check right having bad vision can keep you away from seeing the truth. Prolonging on war robot on a small device can twist your vision. What does my statement have any common with your irrelevant statement?. check your vision first, and come back reread the statement carefully. Well, there is absolutely, 100% NO connection between "upgrading your bots\weapons" and "getting\not getting 5th slot". None. Zero. If you think they are SOMEWHAT relevant - there is something wrong with your logic. So, stating "it is better to upgrade than have 5th slot", or "upgrade first and then buy 5th slot" is just a sentence that, while grammatically correct, absolutely hold no meaning. You sounds like saying "Colorless green ideas sleep furiously".

Even at 65% off Au I'm not spending sh*t on this game again. Just waiting 'til Battle Titans hits the app store. Then bye-bye War Robots.
