Hunter S. Thompson was a lightweight rookie. And for you younger forum members... Replace Hunter S. Thompson with, say, Charlie Sheen x10... But with an IQ above 50... And a typewriter. And for our even younger forum members... Replace all that with Lindsey Lohan... But with an actual brain... Anyway, they couldn't have hung with me 15 yrs ago. But like Dredd said... Kids and bills and 'sponsitilities make ya pump the brakes a Lil bit. Cold Beer and Genesis 1:29... All I do any more. (if you don't know your scripture, Google Genesis 1:29 and you'll figure that second one out.

I think I could get out of control pretty quickly with addictions if I let it. Then I'd be doing it every day, all the time, thinking about it in the middle of the night...wait...like War Robots...oh-oh... LOL, as long as you aren't robbing liquor stores to pay Pixonic so you can speed finish your bot/weapon upgrades I think your addiction hasn't gotten out of control. |

I'm enjoying Scotch and other high-er end whiskies, at the moment. I quit smoking a few years ago, but will still enjoy the occasional cigar.

Alcoholism and drug abuse run in my family. I've seen the problems these addictions can cause and have decided not to use either. Most of my friends socially drink and I'm glad they can enjoy it. For me it hits too close to home.

Too much of most drugs alters your behavior. IE you dont have full control. Some us are control freaks, want all of our faculties unimpeded and need them so. Also, some of us do not need to alter our body chemistry to relax, feel better, have fun. If I was worried that I had no self control, then when I have been royally busted to bubkiss, why would I have taken painkillers for a decent amount of time? I have a high pain tolerance, but when you can barely function. Also, straightedge may be determined by a value system, religious beliefs, family history, etc.

So wait.... How are we defining legal? State or federal level? In regards to the US, legally, state law (if you are headed in the area of pot), is legally irrelevant, and also illegal. No.state law may undermine, weaken, or be less stringent than federal law. In the pot legalization, the fed for whatever reason, has chosen not to enforce the law. |

I started smoking when I was 15. I quit cold turkey when I was 28. I like a margarita with Mexican, or Southwestern cuisine and occasionally I like to sip a Taylor Fladgate 40 year old tawny port. Otherwise I don't drink. I don't like wine, or beer. As far as the illicit, let's just say I have a few close personal friends that are also growers. I'll leave it at that..

Occasional drink, avoid more because I have to pick and choose where my spending cash is gonna go on any given month (as do we all). Jameson is where it's at.
I also partake in both kratom and kava for relaxation.

PBR's my regular go-to cheap beer. But two cans a day is my limit. If I wanna go slightly fancier, then I opt for Stiegl or Stella Artois.
As for ganja, I've hit it only a few times since my early 20s. But haven't touched it in over two years. It's legal now for recreational use in my state though.

I drink casually but have a sizeable collection of spirits and liqueurs (a few hundred bottles, which I keep in a 7 foot tall locking wood cabinet). I have been known to enjoy playing War Robots while sipping a scotch, bourbon or rum old enough to legally drink itself. Not a smoker. Don't care for the smoke and smell and my wife loathes it. As for certain herbal recreational products, I've experimented a bit over my many years and it was alright but I'd never want that smoke stink in my house. I live in a very tolerant country on the verge of legalizing it so perhaps I'll consider keeping a little smoke-free option in my locked collection cabinet once it is legal. Still, for now, it's still illegal and I'm not interested in the hassle or bad example breaking the law sets for my kid. Nothing better than a fine rum. |
