The Golem is still a bit weak in open maps and this is why I bought the Gareth - I thought speed would be helpful. Not sure if you've already read this somewhere, but make sure to practice running sideways and backwards. It is the most overlooked strategy with newer Gareth users. It gives you the ability to angle your shield for protection while remaining at top speed, and helps you get from one cover to another safely over larger distances. Your experience corner shooting with Golem will be helpful as that is another big advantage to Gary. It's a little tougher, but you'll get used to timing your moves so you can corner fire both weapons with minimal exposure. It's sort of a bobbing back and forth motion until the Taran is empty. Then cover for 5 seconds and repeat. Also, for corner shooting in general, learn to do it from a few meters back from the corner. Many people hug the corner which exposes you to splash damage. Rockets hitting the corner when you're further back from it won't damage you, and you'll still be able to shoot around it. Overall, Gary will compliment your Golem greatly, as you'll have a shield bot for both Plasma and Splash.

Arguably, one trident beats a Tulumbas+Pin setup with range and quickness of reload. But we were talking of the golem, not how the (medium) golem compares to a heavy, were we? yeah, but the tulum/pin has a better burst damage salvo. I suppose there's no harm in continuing to use a Rocket Golem as you continue to progress anyway, as you will very likely use all of the weapons that you equip it with in the future.

Totally. The tridents are on a Carnage or fury, the Tulpins are on a griffin
