The new system is simply stupid. I was on the first place by damage and killed most enemy robots but lost 12 points simply because one of our team member didn't play at all and the game was 5vs6. You should review it guys, it simply sucks. Seconded. Just had a game where I scored not only the highest damage of my team, but beat the lead scorer on the winning team by almost 300k. Also tied for most caps between both teams. But guess what? NO reward. Nothing for playing one of the best games I've ever played since installing because most of the rest of my team (something I have no control over) couldn't even find their fire buttons. I actually went down 12 points because of that. The only thing this new system is going to create is a lot of frustration. I had close to 10 games like this in a row last night. All -12's and -14's for me. The last one I didn't even bother finishing as my teammates seemed content to hide out behind our buildings in Shenzen while the other team grabbed and held a 4-1 beacon advantage. The fact that we were down a man immediately in most of the matches didn't help matters. It seems clear that Pix has some very systematic stuff going on under the hood to exploit player behavior patterns and create artificial pressure to upgrade. The feeling of being manipulated is not one I enjoy.

Very frustrating when you have the most kills and points and lose

Oh, I have a few of these too... Here I did five times the damage of the last guy on the winning time, and twice the kills. I think it is OK we lost, if you look at the damage from the first 3 players each side, they definitely did better. But I did not deserve to have 24 league points less than Mr. Star Destroyer75. But my very favorite is this one (and we won, so I cannot be accused to be bitter about it): Poor Panzer killed 9 of ours, and did almost as much damage as the last three of our team together. And four times the damage of our last. I think the league point system, right now, is unbalanced. Perhaps it was before too, I'm fine if they think the 1st two losers were getting too much reward. but they went too far. I read comments like "well in real life losers don't get anything so why should them here"... aside from the fact that, you know, in real life you don't drive gigantic armored bipedal robots shooting rockets at your peers either, but nobody seems to have issues with that... Victory already has very substantial rewards: it is the way you get gold, and you get more silver too. The league system is not a reward system (although it does produce bragging rights of course): it is a performance gauge system with the purpose of choosing your opponents. As such, it should correctly account for your performance. Panzer performed A LOT better than Lowey Gunz. Your capability of being a team player is important, so whether your team won or lost should be in the equation too. But the fact that Panzer's performance estimation goes down after a match like this is just wrong.

That 2nd game is a good example of why you shouldn't ignore beacons. Panzer may have done his part well or he may just have took the nearest two beacons at spawn and then spent the rest of the game racking up damage. Damage doesn't necessarily equal good game play.

You might be right... but he did also get as many beacons (and more kills) as the the bottom three winners together. So I stand my case: the loss might have been (partly) his fault because he did not cap enough. He still did way more than any of the bottom three winners. Two of them capped zero beacons. The third one capped as many (or as few) as Panzer, but made 1/4 of the damage and 1/9 of the kills. Plus, beacon capping stats depend on the game of course. I don't recall that match now but perhaps he was not capping because he was suppressing the reds trying to kill the blues while they were going for center beacon. There is also the beacon capper fallacy of rushing to a beacon somebody else is capping already instead of trying to go where it is more useful. I don't say that he should be crowned God of the Game and be carried in triumph through the city. But as much as his gameplay might have been lacking, it surely was not 24 points worse than Lowey Gunz's.

YES!!EXACTLY!! Sorry, wasn't actually shouting at you lorcann but at all the league ladder yoyos whining and crying about the MM and such. About 89% of you showing pictures of your disgrace are b*tching about how your team got trounced even though your team's DP or your teammates DP or even your opponents DP or your own DP was higher than their/your opponents. And it states RIGHT IN THE HEADLINES AS YOU ENTER A MATCH that the #1 GOAL OF THE MATCH is to GET THE BEACONS. I figure at least 40% of the losses in my own matches are caused by the miffs(morons, idiots and f***ing fools(because they cause miffage in my person)) in the game utterly ignoring the friggin' beacons. 50% of losses being to good opponents. It's going to happen. And 10% of losses the bad luck of having statues(disconnects) and ditchers & tankers(the 「bum-bum」hats) and sometimes equipment disparity in the matches. I've been in matches as the last bot standing while owning the beacons far longer than the surviving DP seeking 4-5 reds. My own DP score was less than double digit Ks because I'm driving a light bot and focusing on the beacons not the DP. And my teams ended up with the wins and the gold. Suck on THAT you DP stacking losers!

Huh? @heatencat, since you are not shouting at lorcann, and lorcann was discussing with me, I'm tempted to think that you are shouting at me. If so, man, you should get more used to people disagreeing with you, it happens to me all the time, and I have a long and consistent experience telling me that shouting at people and calling them names is very ineffective at making them wrong, but works quite well at making me look a bit stupid. You see, I'm afraid I'm no whiner, my eyes are quite dry, and still, I think that the current point distribution is a bad idea. I have said above why, if you have something constructive and to the point to say about it, I'm listening.

@tarasque
? Lorcann's statement was about aquiring beacons not the distribution of reward points. My statement is quite obviously responding to just that. It doesn't and it shouldn't matter what your damage points are at endgame if your team doesn't bother to aquire and hold those beacons long enough.
As for responding to your statement...Pixonic's biggest mistake was in giving anything at all to the losing teams. It gave people a sense of entitlement as best losers and it shouldn't have. I've never seen a game that gave the losers anything but jack squat. I don't think the game is broken, but it's obviously broken some of its players.

Yes, but if teammates aren't doing enough damage, then they aren't going to be able to suppress the enemy's advance, are they? This is a somewhat essential part of being able to claim a piece of territory.

One thing I noticed is you are not always fighting with people in your league. I am in silver lll and recently got shot up by a guy in silver ll league. I forgot to look and see if he was in a squad but I would think that a squad would fight in the same league as the league of the highest member. How would you even enter into a squad with someone in a different league? I don't squad so I don't know much about it. UPDATE: Ran into another silver ll player. Every one else in the enemy camp was silver lll. So I checked our team and we had one guy in silver ll and another in bronze l. NOBODY was in a squad. So it seems MM will stick you in the next highest or lowest league if necessary.

Looking to join clan. I'm level 27. I play with Leo, 2 griffins, and Galahad. Right now average 3.3 kills and 315,417 damage. Max destroyed is 9 and max damage is 719,777. I play on my iPhone when I can throughout my workday (4-5 times a day for 20 min or so) and usually for a while at night also. i enjoy the game a lot and want to see if the experience is better within a team.

I would have thought the point of those leagues was to have a MM inside each leagues, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Really strange.

Once ine the best of 5 for silver, down to bronze 3, i am now in bronze 1. The thing is, when i hit b1, i get like 5-6 pts for a win and minus 1 or 2 for a loss... but sometime, i can loose all my points and it's pretty random. Can someone explain (or link me to an explanation) how this works?

I've seen this too. I'm in Diamond I and I've been in many battles with Expert, Master, and Champion level players. I've had a few battles with players in these leagues and I'm in Diamond III. I think if Pixonic incorporated some sort of relative difficulty multiplier for each person playing a match, that would help keep people involved in matches where a person was outclassed. Say if I faced opponents from Expert league or they had a highly leveled hanger setup, then I would score my damage points multiplied by some amount like 1.3 times. That opponent shooting me would have a multiplier of 0.7. This would take a lot of computational power on the servers looking at each shot and who it hit, but such a system would be an effective counterbalance to the match maker's limitations of player selection and need to place players quickly into a match.

So, I'm mostly in agreement with people here, that the league system is goofy as a reward system and an MM. I've already stated my feelings before the update and while I think it's better now, it still has issues. Before the update, because the top 2 on the losing team still earned league points, I think people were so focused on damage that they forgot to try and win. I like to focus more on getting beacons (which usually means less on damage), so I got the shaft a lot. Now I think people try to win more instead of just doing damage. Because they upped the point losses/gains, though, people are still getting shafted when half their team is awful or quitting. I've also been in with guys well above my league, which I sort of get, since there may not be enough in my league at any given moment to fill out a 12-man game. However, I'd be willing to wait longer to get a more balanced game. I also wouldn't mind 5v5 or 4v4 in those instances. What do y'all think?

I'm figuring that the MM is based on your league levels within a squad. I've said this before but I'm not having the problems soloing like ya'll are describing with the matchmaking system. 1-2 league levels of difference between highest and lowest player isn't at all unfair. I've been squading with players up to two tiers from my own either way and it's still working just fine for me thus far. No different than soloing at all. I only run into problems squading with players higher than 2 tiers from me. At that point nearly every opposing player is at the level of the highest member of my squad. No Bueno.
What equipment those players have in the matches probably does affect the matches, but that is probably supposed to happen to intice players to buy the gold and upgrade their own bots and weapons. You're not going to compete well in your 6/6 bots with players sporting 8/8 or better. I'm not even upset with seeing 12/12 bots in matches with 6/6 players. Someone spent some bucks. More power to them. The developers are trying to make a buck after all and I have absolutely no reason to b*tch about that. And I really don't see why others think they do. Everyone wants to be compensated for their efforts and the developers deserve theirs. This game is awesome. Name another that actually compares? Anyone? Because I've played nearly every mech and robot game out there. This one's the shiz. But games also evolve and it seems to me this one has done so at least twice? And everytime it happens people have b*tched about it. If games don't evolve then players simply lose interest. I'll bet you dollars to donuts the developers were seeing a decline in usage and gold sales and are trying to get interest rekindled back to those higher numbers. They're not going to just keep catering to a dwindling player base. Not going to happen. Just be thankful there is still enough interest in it thus far to keep the developers from just dropping it.

hey ShutUpAndSmokeMyWeedYou should probably un-pin this thread, and start a new one in light of the new information about how leagues actually work. You want something that describes whats going on as of now and not 10 pages of mostly irrelevant information. It also might help contain some of the rage that is going to happen.

People who actually want at least a remotely fair game might though. The devs might care as well, because guess what? When people get frustrated they stop playing, and Pix ends up losing money, so maybe addressing the concerns people have might do more good for everyone than just cheerleading the game, because in the end the games that get too greedy tend to be the ones that end up losing money fastest.

I doubt that the guy who spends his money on the game is going to be placed in a tier they did not earn by playing well even if they buy their upgrades to the max. So you could quite possibly see a maxed hanger on a lower tiered player who got there legitimately. And I'd bet you dollars to donuts that Pixonic would be ecstatic with that player no matter what.

Yeah, but see, getting my lv 7 hanger thrown into fights against people with Lv 10-12 hangers does nothing but imbue me with a very strong desire to not reward this company with my hard-earned dollars. If they are going to deliberately make my game as difficult as possible to play without paying, then I want nothing more than to not pay them out of pure spite. FTP can be done right. It has been done right, and I have no problem whatsoever with spending money on a game that does it right. I have sunk hundreds of dollars into some MMOs for cosmetic items for my characters, but as a general rule, I will never, ever pay for the privilege of speeding up an upgrade or a weapon that gives me a clear advantage over those that don't pay. People who do that haven't earned their wins, and all they do is reward bad behavior on the part of the publisher, and throwing players into matches where they are grossly outclassed in hanger level is pretty bloody bad. I love this game, and I think it has a tremendous amount of potential, potential I'd rather not see squandered by naked greed. If the publishers want more money, let them make more skins and customization options instead of trying to pressure players to spend ridiculous amounts of money to speed up upgrades.

zeframmannI agree. The league system encourages people to buy upgrades not aesthetics, which then deliberately places those upgraded people into matches which are lopsided equipment wise. But the league system itself sets itself up for player abuse as well. I.e tanking. I'm not really a fan of this system because of that. And to me the paint jobs in this game are lame for the most part. There are a few martial skins but the rest are just clown costumes fit for a kiddy parade imo. And who wants to look like a friggin' clown on a battlefield except a friggin' clown? I'd much prefer several camo skins for each bot and I'd gladly lay out the money to aquire them.

If pixonic really wanted to monetize from paintjobs: a) they'd actually make martial paintjobs (mimetic, urban combat, jungle... think MechWarrior... well, if you are old enough, that is) b) they would have a sure way to: 5$ or 5.000 gold to be able to put a visible clan patch on a single specific bot. c) down the road, custom made paintjobs, again tied to clans, again 5$ or 5.000 gold per each paintjob usable on a single specific bot. b & c would need some effort for the approval process, but would bring in truckloads of money without having an actual impact on the game engine and battle results, kind of a win-win for all.

I started to play this game 3-4 days ago. And I had 2098 score out of 2099 to be in Gold League 1. But because of a bad connection, I left the battle and my score dropped down to -97 now score is 2001. So, 「whiskey tango foxtrot」 this is? I spent a lot of time to gain this score and lost huge amount after leaving just one battle. So unfairly and stupidly.
