Android Fight Night!

Greetings pilots!

I'm pleased to announce a new feature for the 6 Pack League discord server.

Starting next week, on Thursday, May 24th at 9 pm EST, we will have our first organized casual play event for Android, known as Fight Night.

This is analogous to the various events that Deadeye runs for iOS on the Fight Club server. This will be the Android equivalent, and will be based on the main league discord server.

(Please note: This doesn't mean iOS is excluded, rather, the goal is to give android players the same opportunity for organized play outside of just participating in the league itself. iOS does such a good job I am copying them).

This inaugural Fight Night will be normal 6 Pack League legal rules, however, in the future there will be other Fight Nights dedicated to other formats, just like in Fight Club. This means special events for things like all lights (Light Night), silver only (Silver Night), and so forth.

These special formats will eventually exist alongside the main Fight Night, with the goal of giving all 6/6 players more frequent opportunities to play, with a particular emphasis on gathering newer players who haven't had a chance to test their hangars yet and/or haven't found a spot on a regular team yet.

Going forward I will be running a Fight Night on Thursdays only, but other members of our community can and may use other nights (or days) for additional sessions, be they standard 6 Pack legal or special formats.

The only night that should probably be avoided is Saturday as a large majority of the actual league matches occur then.

Here are the basics:

Each individual Fight Night will have its own section to keep it completely distinct from any other section, with a sign up sheet and a facebook link channel. These channels will serve that particular Fight Night exclusively and nothing else.

As people sign up, the queue will show them being assigned into a particular comms channel and squad. Where possible, each team should have a defined squad leader responsible for invites, however, there may be times where squad leadership shifts around to facilitate matchmaking. I will guide this as it unfolds.

This can also be used to have quicker competitive practices should teams so choose as well, with teams with a handful of pilots ready and signed up all assigned to one squad, while the opposition team occupies the other squad, and singles are assigned ahead of time to improve the efficiency of execution.

The key to all of this happening efficiently must be stressed, and it cannot be overstated: having the appropriate pilots in your facebook friends list in game is of paramount importance. Each Fight Night will have its own facebook link channel dedicated to this. Many of us already have each other, which is great, but this must be stressed to those newer people who may be unaccustomed to the process. Keep in mind a lot of pilots have created a facebook account just specifically for this, and it is very helpful to do so even if you don't frequent facebook normally.
