Out of the light robots I started playing my stalker again, which can be interesting. Gareth is also a favorite these days. As far as medium I like Galahad and I'm considering a Gl Patton. Anyone find Rogatka still good? I have one laying around collecting dust in wait for future upgrades. Stalker is very annoying if your teammates are crappy. Plays pole dancing with a building, comes out only when in stealth mode, and you'll have a hard time hitting it that way. I got swarmed by 2-3 Stalkers in some recent games. Makes you wonder what your teammates are up to, as they see 3 red dots dancing around a blue close to a beacon, doing nothing - guess they sit on their hands, thumbs pointing up. Not really a problem if you are squading with decent teammates. Big problem if 4 or 5 blue guys are campers, which seems to happen a lot to me. Yeah it's somehow very entertaining to me moving in circles on a Rhino or a Lancelot with Magnum or Pinatas up close, but that's definitely a lot tougher. I was in a game with another stalker on my team and we literally went did that around the Rhino while unloading everytime we were on his side or back. Good times! The speed is really good on a Stalker, can evade DB bots although really squishy if hit by a Trebuchet Fury if you forgot to use stealth or timed it bad. The stealth ability helps to certain degree but still vulnerable to splash. Now about the Rogatka.. I miss playing with it a lot, but so much other things to upgrade until that time. To be continued...

isn't that how it is for most heavys as well? sure, they are more versitle then lights, but gold and workshop robots are supposed to be better. I accept the Au/WSP bots should have an edge, but at least their powers provide some differentiation (e.g. Rhino vs Griffin). Ag heavies, on the other hand, are simply better than the corresponding Ag mediums (e.g. Griffin > Patton, Leo > Vityaz) if bot weight class isn't being used as a matchmaking factor. you should try to keep bots in their classes. yes, a griffin can beat a patton, but the griffin cost more, is slower, and is larger.

Agreed with people mentioning Gareth.
At my level (medium hangar), they are basically what the Guepards were with entry players. They have speed to cap beacons and dodge missiles like Aphids, and they have a shield adding a ridiculous 200% (?!?!?) of resistance when facing an enemy. Since they can still use full mobility and firepower while shielded they can easily wipe most mediums and heavies.
Just like the Gareth is the king of lights, the Galahad is the king of mediums. The Galahad is a medium, and is arguably the best bot in the game alongside the Fury or the Lancelot. Oddly, I don't think the Galahad is that much stronger than the Gareth though. What he wins in resistance (20% in the shield) is lost in speed (20% of speed), and firepower is not that different with only one light slots as a difference.
In short, Gareth/Galahad are kings. One is light, one is medium, and they are easily superior to other robots including heavies.

The thing is, the matchmaker doesn't seem to care about weight class, so it really is a straight up comparison on stats. Yes, mediums are faster, but the differentiation isn't enough and it seems Pix has been choosing to close the speed gap rather than making the heavies more lumbering. The range of weapons relative to the size of the map and the relatively high accuracy of weapons also means you need to have a pretty significant edge in speed before it starts to make a difference (e.g. the Gepard in the old days).

Love getting daily for me to kill 8 bots with a light bot...ok right I'll just do that, so I swap the daily and it's something about capping x number of beacons with a light...so I swap it again and I get kill 8 bots with a light bot again...found it humorous as I'm forced to play heavys now.:.

I didn't think it was possible when the mission popped up on my screen. "Kill 2 robots with a light robot in a single battle." for 40 Au. No way in hell, I thought to myself. But I like a challenge. I already had a L6 Cossack with an L7 Orkan, but I switched it up with an L8 Orkan, then ditched a Golem and trotted out ye olde L6/9 TM-Gepard from my gold farming days. Off to fight the impossible battle... My first attempt was a match in Springfield. We dropped in the cargo zone. A Griffin and I played leap-frog to the home beacon. I set my sights on the nearest beacon across the ravine, only to spot to incoming enemies moving fast to the same target. I quickly changed course, dived under the walkway bridge, and ran like hell up the hill to the corner beacon nestled next to the dam. As enemy mid-range fire started coming in, I desperately jumped onto the platform with the beacon and ran around the corner of the nearby wall, losing about a 3rd of my HP in the process. By this time, mid-range ordinance from my own team started spattering the area with explosions. In front of me, a Stalker cloaked, while coming up the far side, a MRS Fujin was slowly bringing me into line of sight. I scurried from cover to fall into the corner at the end of the dam's walkway, foiling the Fujin, as the Stalker in front of me danced through missile fire just around my new corner cover. His cloak dropped as he started coming around for me, revealing that about 2/3rds of his HP was left, so I quickly hit lock-on and mashed the fire button before he even came into my line of sight. Poor fool walked into a stream of rockets and disintegrated before he got more than 3 shots off. Turning quickly to check on the nearby Fujin, I saw that it was in Sentry mode less than 50 meters on the platform above me with about 1/2 of it's HP left. Jump and mash, death by rockets! And my enemy's shield puffs like so much tissue and he dies in seconds. As I land, I see a sliver of my own HP left, and then a rain of missiles obliterates me. As the death cam swings around, I see a blue beacon that never flipped, and no enemies within 500 meters of the flag. 2 kills, 2 beacon captures. Never turn your back on an insane Cossack pilot. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. We lost the match. I blame that on idiot teammates I ended up placing 3rd in damage with 4 captures on the losing team. The TMGep was my biggest liability. I'm upgrading my Cossack. I love that challenge. I run a Gary and a Gep for it. Depending on the map I get dropped into, one or two battles is usually all it takes. Even better, you don't have to win the battle to complete the task.

Plasma Gareth and Stalkers are the best cappers. But really your choices on medium and light are limited ATM. Rogatkas used to be all the rage but I haven't seen a lot lately.
Pretty much stalker, Gareth, Galahad and Carnage.
