My Lights that are almost always in rotation for a spot in my hanger are: Gary, Jesse, and Stalker. I dislike the Gep, but I see enough of them. Rarely do I see a Cossie, but when I do, its got an ECU... -_-
I've actually been digging the Rog lately, with Orks.
And the Boa still serves a good purpose, regularly, in my hanger.
This thread has inspired me. I am going to break out my Patton, Golem, Vitz, Rog, and Boa to see how I do... I will give it about 10 games or so... to see if it will adjust my rating. (It should, as I doubt I will still do the same damage, but whatever, it'll be fun! Hopefully my teammates don't follow me around in anger, shooting at me the whole games lol!

In the area of lights: mainly Gareths and Stalkers and Aphid Geps In the area of mediums: mainly Galahads, Boas, and Pattons They're still out there but the mainstream used lights and mediums have shifted with the new MM Cossacks, schutzes, vityaz, golem, and rogs are rarely seen these days, at least in the matches I've been a part of. At least 80-90% heavies... What happened to Carnage? Oh yeah, Carnages... ive always considered them as heavies, but it's a medium that's used quite frequently...

I have been running an orkin/ piñata gareth, thunder carnage, aphid Patton, orkin rog, and Zeus/Molot golem all at 9/9 and do an average of 400,000 and 3.5 kills. Not outstanding, but with a win rate of 60% in the new mm I am regularly facing stronger bots and weapons. Play smart, flank, harass, and support. Most important is death to all reds and have fun.

Level 9 and 10 equipment seems to be the start of some kind of "comfort zone". To explain, I have a math theory that your average damage output is directly correlated to the level of equipment (meaning both robots and weapons) fielded. Weapon levels seem tilted because they have a direct impact on damage done, but robot levels still have a significant impact in durability. The stronger the bot, the longer the guns last, right? This is why mismatched levels have become so painful, and with typical past advice, it's because your damage output is degraded by a lack of endurance. Even 'upside down' bots will suffer, from a lack of damage dealing instead, but these are just opposite sides of the same ratio coin. We can set aside skill factors as well, since it's plainly obvious that no amount of skill can offset significantly mismatched hangars. This leaves us with just the average damage done per match over time, exactly what the clubbers figured out is the key metric of the new MM. Problem being the new MM is obviously not robust enough (yet?) to prevent massive equipment disparities. It's been postulated before that having around level 10 equipment means that even level 12 hangars aren't so tough, but at level 8 and below, you've got no chance. It makes sense in the maths, as your performance rating should get you similar equipment levels and sadly often does not, but at the high end of the ratings spread, there's finally some wiggle room for skills to actually matter again even if the MM thinks you're a god. And it's not all so bad, many folks are reporting much better stability with comparable equipment in their matchups, so skills are once again a factor in those oh-so-rare sweet spot matches.
Anyway, back on topic. Field your light and medium bots, but for pity's sake upgrade them to equal levels of weapons, along with the rest of your hangar levels. Inevitably, this will reduce your overall damage output, but the exchange will be much better chances of earning the MoC, and a slightly lower rating bracket. The flocks of Stalkers and Gareths I'm seeing lately are a functional testimonial to this. I expect less common light bots, especially Cossacks, to eventually come into their own as well. Eventually, I see two archetypes of players, damage dealers, and beacon eaters. I've always been a beacon eater, so maybe that's why the new MM isn't driving me away from the game.
I sure hope Pixonic refines this craptasm sooner than later.

Patton only exists in the mix because of the irrational allure of the 4th aphid... isn't that how it is for most heavys as well? sure, they are more versitle then lights, but gold and workshop robots are supposed to be better.

Personally I like my golem, though it has less armor than my boa it packs more firepower. It can be a very dangerous knife fighter used right

I do well sometimes with a Patton. But, my Patton is fully upgraded with 4 racks of Aphids that are currently 8/8/8/9. Can't wait to fully upgrade the Aphids. A lot of bots will be 1 shot 1 kill. Still have problems with other bots though. I hate Rhino or anything with a shield. Cossack and Stalker are fast movers. But Cossack and anything that jumps has to land and Stalker will uncover.

I think the target for the current MM system are for level 30 players...very rare for me to see Golem, Vityaz in battles. Sometimes I can see cossacks just to cap beacons.

I didn't think it was possible when the mission popped up on my screen. "Kill 2 robots with a light robot in a single battle." for 40 Au. No way in hell, I thought to myself. But I like a challenge. I already had a L6 Cossack with an L7 Orkan, but I switched it up with an L8 Orkan, then ditched a Golem and trotted out ye olde L6/9 TM-Gepard from my gold farming days. Off to fight the impossible battle... My first attempt was a match in Springfield. We dropped in the cargo zone. A Griffin and I played leap-frog to the home beacon. I set my sights on the nearest beacon across the ravine, only to spot to incoming enemies moving fast to the same target. I quickly changed course, dived under the walkway bridge, and ran like hell up the hill to the corner beacon nestled next to the dam. As enemy mid-range fire started coming in, I desperately jumped onto the platform with the beacon and ran around the corner of the nearby wall, losing about a 3rd of my HP in the process. By this time, mid-range ordinance from my own team started spattering the area with explosions. In front of me, a Stalker cloaked, while coming up the far side, a MRS Fujin was slowly bringing me into line of sight. I scurried from cover to fall into the corner at the end of the dam's walkway, foiling the Fujin, as the Stalker in front of me danced through missile fire just around my new corner cover. His cloak dropped as he started coming around for me, revealing that about 2/3rds of his HP was left, so I quickly hit lock-on and mashed the fire button before he even came into my line of sight. Poor fool walked into a stream of rockets and disintegrated before he got more than 3 shots off. Turning quickly to check on the nearby Fujin, I saw that it was in Sentry mode less than 50 meters on the platform above me with about 1/2 of it's HP left. Jump and mash, death by rockets! And my enemy's shield puffs like so much tissue and he dies in seconds. As I land, I see a sliver of my own HP left, and then a rain of missiles obliterates me. As the death cam swings around, I see a blue beacon that never flipped, and no enemies within 500 meters of the flag. 2 kills, 2 beacon captures. Never turn your back on an insane Cossack pilot. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. We lost the match. I blame that on idiot teammates I ended up placing 3rd in damage with 4 captures on the losing team. The TMGep was my biggest liability. I'm upgrading my Cossack. I like that mission. Plasma Grif or Carnage hunting with the Gareth followed by clean up hitting with my Aphid Gep.

If your Galahad does 64kph, as Will Smith said in Indepence Day,"I gotta get me one of these!" I keep thinking about dropping the coins for one, but haven't been able to convince myself it's worth it... even though my plasma Gareth WILL lose in a one on one fight with it.

noun: currency accepted as exchange for goods, services Synonyms for money bill | capital | cash | check | fund | pay | payment | property | salary | wage | wealth | banknote | bankroll | bread | bucks | chips | coin | coinage | dough | finances | funds | gold | gravy | greenback | loot | pesos | resources | riches | roll | silver | specie | treasure | wad | wherewithal | almighty dollar | hard cash | legal tender | medium of exchange
Personally, I've never heard of "specie", but hey, it's just slang terms in English, one of the most dynamic languages on Earth. I'm older, so 'coin' and 'coinage' is still relatively common in my demographic.

I had the same mission pop up on me before. The way I handled it was with a dual piñata stalker. Just bide your time and essentially "stalk" your prey. Wait for a bot that is about to die (-25% health), pop out of cover and unleash a salvo then go hide again. Dual magnums also work.
I love ambushing campers with this set up especially dual zenith/Noricum Natashas because they pretty much can't touch you.

I accept the Au/WSP bots should have an edge, but at least their powers provide some differentiation (e.g. Rhino vs Griffin). Ag heavies, on the other hand, are simply better than the corresponding Ag mediums (e.g. Griffin > Patton, Leo > Vityaz) if bot weight class isn't being used as a matchmaking factor.

I run a mostly light/medium hanger but have recently found that the side who wins seems to be the side who fields the most heavies (I'm looking at you, Leo and rhino spammers). I see some britbots in play, but mostly just Leos as far as the eye can see. Am I just a liability to my teammates with my medium hanger? I still run a mostly med small hangar Rhino, Lancelot, Galahad, Carnage and a Gepard. Gep goes out first to cap beacons, clean up with large. Once things thin out I go to the Galahad/Carnage to retake beacons and some hit and run. Map also plays a big part in it. Stick with the smaller maps and you will do fine, I avoid the snow and farm map.

Its still feasible to play with small bots. You do however need to change your gameplay.
Lol biggest change is you need to learn patience. Now running for one beacon then move up to a hiding spot and wait for your slow botz to catch up. Wait for them to be attacked then attack their attacker. Another thing to learn is, be the wingman, learn to follow behind someone and aid him, as support.
I find aphid gepards and pinata gepards good for hide and seek.
The gameplay has changed to a more slower and boring game for small and med botz. We are the bot sacrifice pixonix has given the TT botz to make them happy....lmao.
