Again, I am getting really sick and tired of all the straw-man arguments attempting to reduce this discussion to chess pieces. It's just not relevant. So, uh.... checkmate?

If anything, the new MM has taught me patience. When I started I was all about upgrading and getting better this and that until I realized I didn't know what I was doing with any of it. At that point I stopped with the upgrades and started paying more attention to my playing. I'm still not sure I really do "get it" sometimes. Anyway, with the new seeding I've found myself on the high and low side of equipment and skills list. It's interesting getting seeded with and against a mix of top-tier and mid tier people. Since you really don't know what you're going to go around the corner and find it gives me pause to consider if maybe there's something better I could do. Running out and opening fire with my 7/9 bot was pretty much a known thing with the old MM, with the new MM however I could be facing a much stronger or weaker bot. Then it becomes rapid risk analysis followed by a decision of some sort.
In short, yeah I sometimes get my can kicked all over the map by better players and/or bots that have a lot more firepower than mine. Sometimes I'm the overpowered or more skilled person. If I get to learn or put on a demonstration then someone wins. It's a good thing. It's also changed my strategy a lot. It has me thinking I need to diversify my hangar a bit and get a good mid-range bot and not just stock up on the close range stuff. Sire it can be more fun, but by nature I'm competitive and I do like to win. They changed MM and people are b*tching. So?
Life is full of changes and one has to adapt.

I'm not saying that. I had to stop. I got to level 30 quick and kept upgrading and upgrading and getting clobbered. I've haven't spent anything lately, but I'm actually looking to soon. Part of the fun is a little variety. I get better by playing a variety and not the same thing time after time. My stats have actually improved some since the change because it forced me to pay attention to what I was doing

Since you really don't know what you're going to go around the corner and find it gives me pause to consider if maybe there's something better I could do. Man, I do miss blindly turning a corner in 4/6 Boas and curb-stomping whatever was around the other side. These days, I am finding that anything that waits around the corner for me and doesn't immediately rush to engage is usually not something my 7/7's want any part of... Here, there be monsters. So there's another thing the new MM has taught me

It may never stop sucking and you might as well light your wallet on fire for all the fun you will get out of purchased bots at the moment.

I used some of my google wallet money to supplement getting my fifth slot. Other than that I've only used the gold I've earned. I've got two kids in braces so my financial priorities lie elsewhere...

It is definitely skill based now, I was involved with a game that had a far more complex challenge of ranking player skill that used thousands of variables per player over time to build an accurate picture of skill and it was done for free in spare time. It is exploitable if you can figure out how to make yourself look "less skilled" to the system, which is why the algorithms are secret. Of course if you have been involved in those projects you might know where to go to try and exploit it.
The low hangers I face are skilled players, the MM gives me lesser teammates mostly but if I can one shot your gary with my maxed rdb it doesn't really matter much. I could always tell when everyone melts way too fast. It calculates I am an unskilled 12/12 hanger, I haven't seen fully maxed bots in many games now.

If you are 12/12, why would not face only other similiar hangers at least 10+. Why would I get put with maxed hangers with level 7 bots. I have ambushed / hunted countless maxed bots shot them in the back, take 1/2 their HP and then they turn around with lvl 12 weapons and vaporize me. Rushing to cap/defen etc.. vaporized quicker head-to-head. * those looking for great competition should not be satisfied as well, vaporizing your opponents 2 shots. I have become an Obstacle, NOT a Competitor.

On the flip side, when you get to max or near max would you like to play against 7/9 hangers that usually you vaporize quickly? Is that the competition you would desire after all the battles and time spent, only to get matched with someone you can 2 shot then move on? I have reconfigured my bots/weps, changed my strategy and am improving. But it gets me thinking, as I move up, am I going to see less competition? If I play against max or near, they have no where to go up, at most very little. I on the other hand get my growth progression slowed from a steady climb to one that is quite feeble in terms of Au & Ag. Not because they have better skill, but because they have (vastly) better equipment. I take satisfaction that I am usually not the bottom rank, my result was better than those with better hangers. For me it is not 1-2 hangers, its 4-5 hangers. *But I do NOT believe for a MOMENT that if I am in the 120 weight class going against some in the 200+ weight class, it will be a fair skilled based fight.

I'm getting tossed into a variety of matches. As of the past two days I'm not doing to well. This followed up a three day hot streak where I was on the winning team about eighty percent of the time. I'm still better configured for Dead City and Shenzen, okay on Yamantu and Power Plant, but fair at best on Canyon and I not good at all in Bakersfield (for you SoCalGrndR, even though Springfield looks more like El Centro)
Either way, this is what Pix is doing and all the talk here won't change that.

I have become an Obstacle, NOT a Competitor. I think it has to do with the smaller player pool of maxed hangers, matching a maxed hanger with "less skilled" teamates vs "skilled" opponents but of the same equipment level as the "unskilled" team which encompasses a larger player base. No matter what pix does there are just less people running 12/12 heavy hangers so they get tossed about no matter what they do. If it makes you feel any better I play 2 bots and leave when everyone is dying instantly it's really no fun at all for me either.

I won't even get into the condescending nature of the OP, it's really irritating.
Just a few notes - Walking War Robots has LOW skill cap ceiling. Having played many other games but mainly WoW where I had to manage 25-40 people to play near perfect to take some server first and also gotten Gladiator in Arena, what it takes to be skilled in Walking War Robots and game like, say WoW is leaps and bounds apart. So please... stop mentioning skill when talking about this game, all it takes is 2 brain cells and a few hours on youtube.
To suggest that by getting clubbed by 12/12 while you are 6/8 will somehow improve your skill is ridiculous (won't even go into accusations of cowardice or laziness OP accused some of). In fact, when you get to be 12/12 half a year down the road, you'll still be losing games because of low lvl players on your team. Only when you do win, you might get some gold because you did most damage that low lvl's on your team can't match. To pretend as some here do, that everything is OK or even better than before is beyond insane.

I honestly don't see the problem. I haven't been matched with any drastically higher level players in weeks (unless I've been squadding). And other players like strayed, who aren't maxed, are able to take down 12/12 or 10/10 or whatever players, why can't you? There is no pretending, weve been getting fair match ups. ro me, it seems ludicrous and almost a lie that you are getting maxed player matchups

When you've realized "the game" has been stacked against you, and there is no way to "win" by conventional means, change what it means to be a winner in your own eyes. When I first read this I was thinking, "Pfffttt, whatever." Then I was reading some other posts and I saw one where the person was talking about their success with the new MM. They posted their hangar and when I looked at the win rate I thought, "Success? What success?" So, I sat here just looking at that thinking about what I considered success. Then I thought about this post. I decided that I need to let go of my grumpies a bit. Sure, I'm not happy about the new MM, but when I start going through posts and compare not my experience with facing hangars 4+ levels over mine, but my actual outcomes and then putting my experience into that context there's a different story. By all accounts I'm doing just fine. I've made almost 1000 Au, since the new MM kicked in, am running all the bots I wanted to switch to (dropped my Geps and Boas), I haven't seen a win rate below 62% in a week and am experimenting with secondary hangar configurations. I really shouldn't complain. Other's are struggling more. I don't know that I've changed what it means to be a winner in my eyes, but I think I'll be in a better place now. Exact same with me. Just bought an aphid with the gold I have earns purely in the new MM, and still have plenty spare. Not sure what it is with the new MM, but whenever I'm using my favourite/best bots, I get great and fun matches.
