Noricums have great splash, but very low damage. Other properties of the Noricums are long flight time, 400m minimum range and straight targeting.
Yep, nobody uses them. Trash in theory, trash in practice.
SO, after some premium shower thought time, I hypothesised this:
if Noricums could home in on targets, they might not be crap.

tbf you wouldn't even feel them, they'd hardly do any damage to you.
what'd be advantageous is that it deals tremendous splash, so although nobody would be complaining about balance, it'd deal a good sum of damage collectively against groups.

As much as I want Vertical Missiles and/or Artillery being useful, I don't want Artillery turning into guided missiles.

I thinck thats bad idea.
Better keep them as they are but give them EMP effect that Stuns target for few secounds.
Make it More like plasma EMP pulse when lands.
Disables enmy bots for few secounds. Inless they have a Ancile sheild.
It would make them effective tool in game then.

I could see this working, to me the Noricums/Zenits should be an anti camper weapon. A big part of their failure is in their targeting system doesn't relate very well to actually hitting targets and their travel speed doesn't help track at all. Maybe not as intense a homing function the spiral/aphid/hydrda series but some sort of semi homing function I could see working.

Maybe not as intense a homing function the spiral/aphid/hydrda series but some sort of semi homing function I could see working. It would make it less anti-camper and more general purpose. I would have it fire like a pinata, and also make zenits fire like a pinata. Increase damage; for how rarely they hit they don't even do that much. Projectile speed is good enough to just kill campers and nothing else.

It's always active and you know you've been hit by it when you get a message that says "Return to Hangar"... /End sarcasm

Just make them shoot forwards with a range of 200m or something.

Even if straight vertically, it negates all of the splash.

I could buy homing (as horrible as the idea sounds to me) *IF* it actually targeted campers. So in this hypothetical change, Noricums would have homing, but the homing would improve against targets moving at less than 30 and dramatically decrease (or even swerve away/detonate early) for faster targets.

How about by having one equipped in your current hangar it increases your chance of fighting reds equipped with long range weapons in their current hangar. It'll work much like when you use shield bots. If you use shield bots you tend to see more of them. If you use a noricum you'll tend to see more campers. Feel like 'giving it' to some campers.. equip a noricum!

You've clearly never seen noricums karate, they actually do ridiculous damage if they all hit. What makes them crap is one or two hit. If you had a noricums Patton it would instant kill a lot of bots

Just make them shoot forwards with a range of 200m or something. To protect you, as your are running and hiding with your level 1 Patton with 4 of them?

Noricums do twice the damage of a pinata if all the rockets hit. If you shorten the range down to 100m and make them shoot forwards, they could be a souped up version of the pinata.

It'll work much like when you use shield bots. If you use shield bots you tend to see more of them. This isn't an actual feature. It's a combination of selective attention and the fact that shields generally mean you're running higher-level stuff where there ARE more shields.

Noricums should be redesigned as an anti-missile system. Grant it one 35 degrees air burst every 5 seconds. It would be ineffective vs rockets due to their low flight angle unless the rockets are fired from a higher elevation. This would not be an auto target item. It would require you to face the missile salvo and time the air burst. It would counter BRB spammers but would see limited usefulness vs bots firing single volleys or staggered missile systems. Base damage 4K with a thunder like spread. Placed in a low light hardpoint, the burst could hit tall mechs or mechs at a higher elevation.

i play alot of noricums they are a pure skill weapon making them homing is a horrible idea. the best thing to do for them would be to shorten the reload to around 8 seconds. this would make them feel about the same to anyone who is on the move but the campers would not like it alot .heres a lil video of some noricum action with team work

It would be cool to have a defensive anti-missle system out there, and hitting mechs at higher elevations would be good on a couple maps. Interesting idea.
