We're all slowly, but surely accumulating components. My meter is about half full for the two bots I've been focusing on, and 1/10th or more for the rest. I figure in about a month or two most f2p players in Diamond league and up will have earned some fresh gear, and much like when players started getting enough gold to buy Furys and Brit Bots, I expect the meta to change drastically.
What do you think it will look like?

It really depends on how Pixonic will "fix" the meta; If nothing has changed, well... the only counter to dashers is another dasher, so players will eventually have multiple dashers in their hangars.

I think it will be a hover but that has stealth, self destruct and a magnet capability. So youy can hover to them in stealth mode drop down set you magnet in gear And self destruct! That may be worth the price of admission!
My two Cooper pennies!

It seems to me that the best counters to dashes are weapons that do high instantaneous damage, so I'm thinking we'll see more Treb, Kang, and Nash setups with more Storms and Thunders for cracking shields.
I expect mid range rockets and most weapons that deal damage over time to see less play, which could open some space for light robots to play again.

What do you think it will look like? There is no player involvement in the meta of a pay to win game. The meta is whatever gear Pixonic releases that is most expensive (except the Inquistor, Pixonic isn't very good at realizing what is strong and that is too weak compared to the Haechi). Shocktrain Haechi is the meta now. If you can't afford it, then you can't reasonably compete at the top. Once enough free to play players and low payers get the expensive gear, Pixonic will release new gear that tops it and if you can't pay, you can't compete. That is what they've done in the past, and they shown no inclination to change. There is no meta: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/16517/extra-queen-robots-destined-fail

The precedent has been set and stuck to. The most expensive equipment will be overpowered and will thus become the meta. They will also try to release new equipment every month. So the meta will change every month or so to the new $3000 flavor of the month.

There is no meta: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/16517/extra-queen-robots-destined-failThat's only partially the case IMO. For example, once players saw a lot of Haechis on the field, Plasma and Zeus became very popular because it counters the Ancile and (somewhat) the dash. Leading to a (somewhat) decline in the power of Haechis and a lot less RDBs. So now it seems Bulgasari has gained a lot of traction to counter all the Plasma (and players needed a while to learn how to utilize the shield more effectively). And Bulgasari benefits from fewer RDBs. So the "meta" does actually develop over time and may change as the prevalance of bots changes and players gain skill until it reaches some kind of balance. Of course we can count on Pixonic to timely release new overpowered items, so the balance part is unlikely to happen.

This is what I'm working toward. I have one Haechi already and about 7k components toward the next one. I've been focusing all au and WSP on component offers for it. It's also the reason I think additional hangar decks are kinda useless. If/when I have 2-4 Haechi I'm gonna wanna concentrate them all into one deck and run that one. I'm guessing it will be 6 full hangars of Shocktrain Haechi vs 6 full hangars of Shocktrain Haechi.

The new weapons I see on the test server, Gust, Redeemer and Vortex, I think they can spark a revival on the classic robots.
While Vortex is a medium aphid, I don't think it works as good on a dash robot that it would with a Griffin with two additional Aphids. Jumping gives a new dimension to using Aphids, and that goes with the Rogatka and the Hover too. This can create a new death button type on the Griffin.
Gust is a light Thunder. Compared to other shotgun weapons, it has a more rapid fire. This will pair good with Storms like a Griffin, or with a Thunder, like the Leo.
And finally the Redeemer, which is essentially a heavy Taran. I didn't feel that it is overpowered, and its sense of rhythem is disconcerting and doesn't match that of Tarans, but its still genuinely strong. Mounting this on heavy bots and the Carnage, this can make life miserable to Haechis and other Ancile using bots. This weapon can redeem interest on classic bots that have heavy hard points.

It my hope (dream) that range weapons will get a significant nerf so pilots will be forced to learn how to brawl again. I would like to see this skill become more prevalent at middle Expert and above so the quality of the games in the upper levels will improve.
Its my opinion that because of the buff to range weapons many players currently in Diamond and Expert simply dont have sufficient skills to close quarters brawl and proper beacon control techniques and it makes for long boring games where everyone is afraid to go take a beacon on a big map and plays trebs for 5 minutes even if their 4 capped.

Yeah, the dash have already lost a lot of their scare. When the dash got finally available for the poor folks, they wont be that much special anymore, dont expect to see a significant increase in performance when the time comes.
