So whoever's curious of what I won in the superchest, I ended up with the new flying robo, well I'm not saying it sucks but it seems weak/weird and I'm gunna try and see how the ability works. I like this robots color, it's nice to look at though. Though damn this is kind of disappointing because the XMAS event has the hover bot in the reward task chain :V. Edit: God damn keyboard spelling mistakes.

Okay first battle in this bot and its ability feels 「slow」, it just jets straight up into the sky all the way onto the map ceiling almost making me look like a hacker roflol.

Sounds like it! They should make a big red bullseye skin for it.

I do not recommend this bot on the map dreadnought, yes it gets to the top easily while hovering............very slowly, eating missiles and Punisher bullets in the face and if you go inside the ship the glide ability will just screw you in the rear while you get stuck under the roof of the ship.

I feel like a hacker using this bot, my teammate who was piloting the fujin was just staring me flying up and down thinking "「whiskey tango foxtrot」 hacks??"

I actually am curious as to how it will perform. There is potential in it for some specific situations though. I believe it will take a good pilot to make it a performer. Surprising for Pixo to make a bot like this.

Hover effortlessly outperforms any beacon capper in the game, Kumiho included. In the upcoming event there will be beacon tasks as usual. By then you want to have your Hover leveled up to your sweet spot. It is gonna be the first bot you will spawn to go for beacons. Put Orkans and a Pinata on it and learn to fly this thing properly. When approaching a red beacon this loadout will help dealing with spawning bots.
I thought like the OP after the first battles. Weird bot. But I've definitely changed my mind after I got used to the mechanics. This bot packs a punch and is up for some epic scenes on the battlefield.
Folks make jokes about Hovers weakness of being exposed in mid-air. Cossack, Rogatka and Griffin share the same weakness. This weakness has been part of War Robots from the beginning. It's a basic skill to handle this kind of weakness. I see no reason to laugh about it.

Yes that is a good point, but I'm still trying to figure out the hover works, while it glides around grabbing all the red bots attention to focus fire to kill it fast as it crashes into the wall and why when it lands the movement joystick goes unresponsive...leaving you crippled for 3 seconds. It's a great beacon capper indeed, but I'm aware this bot takes skill and experience to master. So I'm going to watch YouTube videos on how to play it properly.

However, the difference between the Hover versus the Kumiho, Cossack, Rogatka, and Griffin is the currently most Hover pilots leave the Hover in the air for a lot longer than any other bot. This makes it more vulnerable due to the lack of cover. I know I can currently drop a Hover with Trebs much faster than any other bot while it's in the air.

About piloting Hover, in general this ability is a liability since you're a slow flying target. I just opened the app update and my first 2 targets this morning were eliminating Hover from the sky. However, as stupid as it seems, I just wanna say give it more time and try more load-outs to find the one that works well for your play style. I have an example why I say this:
When I first got Inquisitor I was really disappointed particularly in how quick it died in CQC. So I put Thunder Punishers on and it worked really well. Over time as I explored piloting it I began to understand the peculiarities of how it needed to be driven and this resulted in using my midrange load-out in CQC more and more. I then switched to Ember Tarans, Thunder Orkans, or Thunder Tarans for brawling and it works great.
So I think with more time you may find the peculiarities of its niche, then you can start a thread about piloting Hover.

First battle in Yamantau/Domination mode, I went to the centre beacon, tested the ability, it went straight into the air and it was hovering down slowly. Then the next thing I saw was 4 orange lasers coming towards me (2 first, then came another 2) and my mech was killed while I was clueless hovering in the air. Turns out the sniper was a quad trebuchet butch.

The Youtube video I saw the guy just equipped 2 Orkans/Pinata and just hovered straight into the enemy. So is this a CQC bot or beacon capper???

I haven't faced many Hovers yet, but this one guy on Dreadnought, took my Rog to half health before I could get halfway to him. He had Hydras and a Spiral - probably high level. He stayed on top of the ship and kept the range open with the glide ability. Sure, a treb finally took him down, but I could see a bunch of blues trying to nail it.

I was thinking of getting 2 Hydras plus a spiral for playing mid range as it seems okay with this bot, for the time being I only have 2 build options orkan/pinata or tulumbas/pin and I'm trying to adjust between both and see which one works better. Maybe I shouldn't have bought Trebuchet with my WSP :(, my Workshop is level 15 and I'm only getting 510 WSP a day. dammit :v

I dont see why hover can make hydra/spiral any better. We are talking about guided missles that go up and around buildings. No need to hover to get a line of sight.
fuijin does a better job and can deliver more dmg.
Try Tulu/Pin, Punishers or Molots.

If you're not comfy with the bot, then between the two build options you have available, I'd go with the tulus/pin. That's how I learned to play the Rog originally until I got Orkans and felt comfortable in piloting it at close range. One of my favourite moves with a Rog is to jump OVER an opponent while firing (and stopping just as the lock breaks). If you run ork/pinatas, that could be a good tactic.
As with any medium or light bot, you have to avoid direct confrontations as much as possible. If you're used to playing tanks, then you may have a steep learning curve.

Have you ever noticed that if you fire Aphids at the top of a Griffin's jump arc that they have a better chance to do full damage? The extra launching height gives it that little bit of oomph. With hydras and spirals, I've noticed on my Spydra that firing when jumping gives the missiles a little bit more travel, and the extra height can help them get over some buildings. With the Hover that I encountered on Dreadnought, since there is no place to hide from homing missiles when you're out in the open, the Hover pilot used his glide ability to keep the range open so that he stayed at 600m as much as possible.

The Hover bot is a Gimmick bot. Its "special ability" is its disability. Pix needs to buff it bad...
