I was informed on how the tier system currently works. Basically, the more games you play, the better the matchmaking system will be for you. So how far does my win rate need to tank to not find myself fighting Lancelots in my lvl 1 Golem? From what some have shared, 0-30% seems to be a zone where changes in opposition really drastically happen - others have shared when they get into 40-50% range they seem to notice improved competition. I have not bothered to experiment at all on this subject because I hate losing, intentional or unintentional. And if you want to tube your rate just to win, well that loophole will close per Pixo at some time as well and seems pointless. The other issue that some have shared is that your Elo score may be more or less set because you have a played a number of matches, but if that 12/12 lancelot pilot is just getting on for the first few times, their score may be 0 or low so they are dropping into your match. They will be moved upwards rapidly but this could happen a number of times with other stronger pilots as well. The only advice is what Flexpoint says above.....everyone just needs to get on and play to get this done with. Grit teeth.....hit start....swear at competition....get meched out quickly....be pissed at minimal damage...repeat....see better matches eventually.

I was informed on how the tier system currently works. Basically, the more games you play, the better the matchmaking system will be for you. I just played my first game under the new MM where I had 2 1/4 guys on my side who were around level 16 and averaging 70k damage vs opponents that included a 9/8 Galahad. The little guys dropped after the first exchange of fire and the battle was a cakewalk for the enemy. How exactly is this match helpful or meaningful in any way? The outcome was 100 % predictable just looking at the hangars. The fact that half the blue side dropped within 2 mins provided little in the way of meaningful data on pilot skill and it just ends up being an exercise in frustration for anyone who put eftort in on the blue side. Playing more games (which is pretty much the universal answer given) isn't appealing if the games are ?poo-poo?. It sure seems like the players are paying the price for Pix's lazy implementation of the non-hangar part of the new rating system. Yep, the number of games I am willing to play with the hope that MM might work in the future is zero. Really, why should I even have hope that it will sort itself out? The disparities I am seeing shouldn't even be possible match ups. How is a skill based rating system supposed to account for a 3 bot hanger vs a 5 bot hanger, or lvl 1 bots vs lvl 10? The apparent answer is that it does not.

You may have thought all of us IOS players who were whining and complaining were overstating our crappy experiences during the transition. Welcome to the Suck. The way I understand it works is that each time you enter a match, the system expects you to win or lose relative to the competition. If expectations are met, your score doesn't move a lot (ie, you are weaker than competition so it expected you to lose and you did so your Elo score maybe just a tick down)....if expectations are not met, then the score moves a lot more (ie, you are weaker than competition but you won so your score jumps up). So each game has an impact on your Elo score for the next match. From what others have said that if Pixo all started us at zero, it is going to take a bit to get the 12/12 pilots away from you as they are expected to win and keep doing so....so their score keeps going up but not by leaps and bounds. You are expected to lose, so your score goes down or stays flat (at 0 unless you can go negative). Until greater separation happens among players from the top down as zman is saying, you can keep getting crazy matches. And then every time stronger players enter the game since the change, the same thing starts all over again with them. So the only advice people can tell you is to keep playing.....because the advice Pixo gives is " " and I find their advice profound.

Really, why should I even have hope that it will sort itself out? Because iOS is sorting itself out. It is? Many of the comments here suggest otherwise. If things are sorting out, then it does give some much needed hope for us Android folks who have just been thrown into this utterly chaotic mess.

As of this morning, clan chat and the like seems to be reflecting that things are stabilizing. This has been my own first-hand experience as well.
I still get the occasional lopsided match, but overall for the past couple of days things have been where I'd like them to be. Challenging enough to foster playskill growth and eliminate complacency, but not so hard I can't contribute. I've learned a ton.

Type 1. Fubar. Whole team is down in minutes. Type 2. Better luck next time. Thought you were doing well, then the other team pulled out the big boys. Type 3. Lucked out. Congrats, you won. It was maddeningly difficult but you managed to get 5th slot on your team. Type 4. You're top dawg. You got 10 gold. The opposition were sissies. (Type 5. Half your team quit.) Type 1 and 2 match are far more common than Type 3. Type 4 is shockingly rare.

runamok I'm getting a lot of 3.25's now. I'm enjoying the challenge, I realize I got very complacent with my old playstyle. Tougher opposition is like sandpaper to my rougher edges.

I'm in the same situation as you! I hope we will soon see a glimpse of light otherwise I fear the worst... Innerdarkness - you'll get there but you have to keep in mind the first couple of times you get a glimpse of the light, it is most likely a treb shot from a 12/12 triple treb fury that blasts you out of existence. After a few of those and then bouncing around, it starts settling down faster if you are on the extremes (seems like top or bottom power players) unless you are in the lower power area and people start gaming the system with 0 win rates. If you are in the middle power area (weps 6-9), it seems like it takes longer as we bounce around a lot more between the 12/12 players passing thru and having to journey farther upward than the lower power folks. At one point, that light will be a beacon that will turn blue for ya and stay blue! Here's hoping it happens faster with you Android folks.

I don't see 12/12 nonsense (thankfully), but I do so a lot of levelled wsp and heavy bots. If my lvl 5 Patton is deemed equivalent to a level 7 Rhino or level 10 Leo, then I have a 「dookie」 ton of upgrading to do before I'm going to be competitive in these matches.

You sold me with that funny remark! which btw happend to me not so long ago(last game actually) and it wasn't just one treb fury but 3 of them and they all liked my lively jumping lvl6 griffin, needless to say it wasn't that lively and jumping after that fateful encounter... Well I have only medium bots right now because if I am to play against TT players either way, at least I don't want to do that with my slow 「bum-bum」 heavy bots and it's way more fun than pressing that red button every 12 second and camping 600m away.

Glad to be of help....but that remark on the treb shot happened to me as well as my intro to the new MM....the first hit I took in the new MM was a one shot kill by a triple Treb Fury on my gep from 900 meters. I knew something had changed. 5 games later and a plethora of TT Furies and up against gold clans meant I scrapped my gep hanger for good and just stayed in my lo gold hanger. If you lose a bit for awhile, you will start seeing better competition. How much or how long is the unknown. Okay, so 1 Android player retained....19,999,999 android players to go. Cheers!

So I've already played a lot since the MM recent change, and for the first time in my history since I started this game months ago, just now I lost every game for nearly 2 hrs straight. And I'm not even talking abt being top 3 etc, just a win from my side.
Primary reason: a. More than OP opponents (nothing new anymore, sigh) b. Clan team opponents (nothing new either, sigh) c. Beginners (for heavens sake can Pix just delete noricums and zenith permanently) d. Beginners (can't believe with the bots/weapon they have, quite a few still have no clue of the importance of beacons) e. All of the above (this is where I thought shooting myself in the head seems a great idea)
Then, finally I won a few rounds, made like below 20au. Next...(a) to (e) seems to repeat. I even gave up trying to get that 30au daily bonus for 8 wins. Another first for me...giving up a daily quest.
Ofc I must admit it's also bedtime for me now lol.
If my MM doesn't settle down...wait...will it ever?
That's my day. Yours?

I rarely squad - my schedule and 3 children mean I pop in and out a lot. But when I do, yeah it's a big advantage. On the rare occasion I squad with voice coms it's even better.
I tried dropping down to level 2/3 lights and level 3 weapons but it didn't matter and didn't change what I faced even after 2 days. I gave up on that and tossed my level 6/7 plasma weapons on a Griffin I won over the holidays, a couple of Boas, one of my 3/7 Geps, and a Molot Patton. All I'm doing right now is levelling bots - once I get them to 6 or 7 I'll work on more weapons and level them up to 6 or 7. Eventually I should get to a med/heavy 7/7 hangar - that seems to be the best I'll get.
At this point the games are more even, and more games seem to come down to meching out one side or the other. I'm facing 9/7 and 8/7 heavies frequently, but often those guys have only 3 slots. Good thing, because the usually grind up a couple of my low end bots.
Oh - saw a 10/10 TT fury on red too. He killed my 2/5 Patton - what a shock. Meched out within 4 minutes.

I take it you have a hanger with five slots, my guess is having a hanger of three is pulling the Elo of those 8/7 Heavies down and if they aren't great pilots either that might be a reasonably balanced opponent for you especially if you are a good pilot. Looks like hanger strength is still factoring in your strongest bot either soley or heavily, so your hanger strength is probably based off that 6/7 heavy. What is your win rate at? Do the games feel close? How is your performance, are you ending up in the top three often? Are the damage spreads for each person on each team narrowing? The 10/10 guy was someone who was still establishing his Elo, or someone who purposefully tanked his Elo to ride the easy wave up. Either way, that kind of opponent should become less and less common. Once that guys elo is developed he'll be playing up by me in what used to be High Gold. PS. Ouch, three lvl 10 Tridents on a low level bot is just brutal, I feel for your poor patton.

Go ahead and swap to a 4/4 light hangar and run a few games. You'll still get matched with whatever you were facing before. It looks like dropping down and running lighter / lower level gear doesn't change much from an MM perspective right now. Oh, and if you have say a Gep with level 9 weapsons? Yeah, you are going to see 9/8 heavies on both sides. As of now it looks like you want bot level = weapon level for the best MM. Possibly even bot above weapon level, but I don't have enough data on this situation yet. My bots were all 1-3 (only been here a month) with 6-7 weapons, so it'll be a couple of weeks before I get that sorted out. The only saving grace for me is a Griffin I had in the hangar and enough plasma to deck him out as a PDB. Basically I need to buy 2 more and build a DB and an RDB Griffin. The only quick way to a competitive hangar for me right now is to buy heavies. I suppose I could buy something other than a Griffin... I do have a Rhino from the holiday event but it's level 1.

Where are some of the photos with a Lancelot with ancile in against level 1 Cossacks.
I think many have some misconceptions of this mm. 10-30 victories is not a factor it's last so many matches.
Playing 5 Cossack with shields gets 0 damage, yet they can get beacons, they going to be penalized?
Wonder why the Gep hangers and players are getting top pilot of the day still, and hour if this is better?

Man, what a difference day 6 makes in the MM. I've had a series of matches where there are a good mix of pilots, each side having a 1-2 12/12 guys and then a mix of other levels. Won a few, lost a few but I'm also up to 70% win rate because of squad matches earlier so I was expecting to see tough matches and I did. The matches go down to the wire or we mech out the other guys because they have more 4 slot hanger guys (hint hint). Placed third in a win going up against some tough opponents with my bot/wep levels below most of the competition. So becoming happier and happier as the days go on with the new system (only a slight sniff for not being able to challenge other clans with geps). I'm feeling better since I'm a drooling no skilled gep pilot as well ? So to all of you out there, hang in there and keep the faith.

I'm going to give it a few days to see how much it evens out, but if win rate is the determining factor in an upgrade based game, I'm just going to quit. There is no reason why I should be punished for doing well and forced against top tier players, while Randy the 「special」 should be able to just stop all over weaker bots just because he has a 16% win rate. Yes, I could "just" level up all my bots and all my weapons and finally play on equal footing with people, but that would literally take months and I have no reason to play a game for months hoping that it all evens out. That would also be assuming that the game doesn't try to balance teams at all, since if a skilled player were maxed out, the system would then put them in a team full of Randys.
Pushing out a performance based match making system in an upgrade based game simply doesn't work. If I want to play a performance match made game, I'll play a game that is actually skill based and log onto League of Legends. If someone is playing this game with a super low win rate, they don't actually care about whether or not they win or lose. If they did, they would've quit. I care if I win. I am, bluntly, completely using this game as a morale boost. I'm well aware that I'm going to get bashed for that, because that's what people do on the internet.
All the same, the only beneficiary of this new system are the low performers, who clearly don't care how they're doing. If there isn't some sort of cap on match making such that your bots are actually a factor, I'm just going to dodge. No reason for me to play a game and keep upgrading when I'm going to be forced hovering 50-60% win rate regardless of how strong my bots are or how well I play. I met as well just sit around and flip a coin. /rant

cantrunfromme I get the frustration. The part that doesn't make sense here is your concern about "Randy," who gets to spend his days "stomping all over weaker bots because he has a 16% win rate."
I don't think Randy gets to have it both ways. He's sitting on a 16% win rate precisely because he's not doing much stomping.
Unless you're talking about Randy tanking his rating, but I've heard that's being looked into.
I'm on iOS. We're on what, Day Five? I got pulped at the outset, but I'm having great, challenging, winnable games now. YMMV, of course.
I'm gonna miss the tiers. I liked having different gameplay experiences. But this is what we got, and it's a whole helluva lot better than no War Robots.

Just ran a test match lowing my hanger to a weaponless lvl 6 Raijin, weaponless lvl6 Fuijin, lvl1 Fuijin with Punisher Ts, a weaponless lvl 6 Rhino, and a lvl 1 Cossack freshly bought. I went from seeing my normal fare to an utter cluster of a game. In the game on Red was a 3 man clan of 12/12 and 11/12 TT guys. They had one H9/10 guy with a 42% winrate. And an 8/10 guy with a 58% winrate. Their weakest player was a H7/7.5 L9/8 with an abysmal 36% win rate. Red H12/12 H12/12 H11/12 H9/10 Win 42% H8/10 Win 58% H7/7.5 L9/8 36% Winrate Blue H7/9 H10/7 3 Slots H 9/8 Win 42% H7/8 Win 68% H6/6 Win 44% H6/6 Win 58%(Me) The strongest player on Blue was a H7/9 guy or a 3 slot hanger guy whose best was a 10/7. We also had a H6/6 guy with 44% winrate. A H9/8 with 42% winrate. And one last guy with a H7/8 and 68% Winrate. Ok, given what I've described and the fact I was pretty much running a weaponless setup... I did get over 20k damage, 3 beacons, and 1 kill! We got slaughtered, it was a joke. My normal hanger is a 9/9.7 with 58%winrate and the competition usually runs a touch stronger than me on average and I don't see really anything weaker than 8/8. What I saw on blue equated to a huge drop in hanger strength and competence and turened into the random mess the Low/Mid guys are reporting in the MM. Running a game with mynormal hanger now.... And the game was close, we got botted out with 2 minutes left... we ran up the score on beacons but spread ourselves too thin. They sat and waited for us to move into their Aphids screen of death. We had a strong win but five us us botted out within 30s of each other. Looks like we were going to ride to the win when we got botted. I was third on my team with 6 kills, 594k, and 2 Beacons. Strongest Bot on each team. This was a bit stronger than I usually face, but overall it was a good match and looks like I was one that got bumped up to fight the TT Squad. Even most of the 12/12 guys, not a one had a full 12/12 hanger, most had mixes and were closer to the 11/11 mark. Blue H12/12 50% Win H12/12 46%Win H10/12 40%Win H9/9.7 58% Win(Me) H10/11 42% Win 4Slots H8/10 40% Win Red H12/12 44% Squadded H12/12 42% H10/11.25 L12/11 Win 64% H10/11 56% Squadded H9/11.7 40% H9/10.25 54% Basically running this experiment was a stark difference from my normal games, I dropped from my spot up where High Gold/Mediocre TT, down into the turbulance where everything was chaotic and nothing made sense. This fits perfectly with my Med Hanger + Established Elo = Turbulance. Essentially this is an easy test for me to see that the MM hasn't settled down in the H6/6 level yet, but is much much more settled up in 9/10ish.

cantrunfromme I get the frustration.
Except that the new system drags him down until it doesn't matter that he can't aim, position, or strategically take objectives. The difference in strength of bots is so huge that he only needs to hit people one time. I literally just played against Randy, now at 40% win rate. In the old tiers, this would have been a silver match. Point being, Randy gets a free pass on being bad, but in order to play the match I have to completely avoid being in his firing range. I can (and as we speak) get a bot specifically for taking down Randys (Aphids), but even once once the game realizes I'll just get put against higher level bot Randys that Aphids can't deal with. Edit : Bonus points: You also don't know that you're wildly outleveled until you've been killed. Even then you can't be sure until there were no other enemies firing on you.

Yep, played two matches with lvl 1-3 bots and got lvl 10-12 bots thrown at me. Zero desire the play this. I was informed on how the tier system currently works. Basically, the more games you play, the better the matchmaking system will be for you. Over 100 games this weekend and still getting crazy matchups that make no sense.

Cantrunfromme - This new world is going to take some getting used to because we had tiers or brackets based on equipment levels in our minds when we devised line ups. Line ups matter but not as much as it used to. Even the old MM would sometimes act up and rubber band matches....pulling some players like Randy into a match that would surprise you. I would wonder how in the heck did that guy wipe me and see that he was theoretically a player from a much higher tier - the forum was full of posts like that. Now in this new world, it will happen as you go on winning streaks or Randy goes on losing streaks. It's exacerbated now because of all the reasons zman pointed out....but I have to tell you after 6 days the matches are getting to be more reliable. I know when my win rate is higher, to expect tougher competition. When I'm floating at 50-60%, my matches are decent until it creeps up or I level up weps. So no new advice except that Randy will be a sign that you are getting stronger/luckier or Randy is starting to suck even more than his pathetic 3 bot hanger would warrant. But you may be a Randy for someone else when you go on a downward bounce.....

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to continue giving feedback about the new MM in iOS, but I followed dredd77's link from another thread, so here 'tis.
When hearing about the new MM, I learned that some combination of hangar strength + the mysterious Elo would determine who I'd be matched with and up against, in a fight. I thought that running a hangar of 2 2/10 lights and 3 4/9 mediums would get me into a fight with pilots running similar bots and weapon levels. Maybe all 4/10-12 lights, all 4/9 mediums, a mix like mine, whatever. I would not have been surprised to see some low heavies in there too. But that's not what seems to have happened at all.
What I see after nearly a week, is that MM builds teams with a variety of hangar levels. I'll see one guy running a maxed hangar, another 8/10 heavies or Gals, all 6/6 heavies, then pipsqueak hangars like mine. While teams may technically be balanced overall (each side has a maxed hangar, an 8/10 etc.) the level of players I team with and face is not balanced compared directly to my stats. The range of bot and weapon level runs the gamut.
And there's the rub, the problem with how Pixo has organized MM. On average, I'm in the mix with 3 or 4 hangars that I cannot compete with. While I have hangars superior to mine as allies, it's still not a balanced fight based on my personal levels. This means that if I'm lucky to be on the winning side, I deal minimal damage and have a miniscule chance at earning any gold. I sure as hell don't lead the squad in damage or kills, and the fragility of my bots in comparison to the firepower I face makes beacon capping nearly impossible. It's also not a lot of fun, as in-game I'm limited to grabbing -- or trying -- one beacon at the onset before getting dead, then trying to find something useful to do besides be someone else's seal to club.
Over the past 48 hours I've experimented with this. I ran my former day-to-day hangar mentioned above, I've run all L4 lights with < L9 wepaons, I've run my version of a gold hangar, and it makes no difference - MM still throws everyone together in one pot.
I don't think a new MM that throws 98-pound weaklings in the same ring with the muscle heads is the right approach. A "league" system where all hangars share similar ratings within a range would more sense, or at least IMHO, would lead to much better gameplay and would probably eliminate most of -- if not all - the complaints I've heard, many of which I share.

I would like some clarity from Pix (which they seem to avoid doing at all costs) about how they perceive the difference between light, medium and heavy bots under the new MM. Is there any point in running a level 6 Patton, or is that effectively the same as a level 6 griffon.
I have choice of building up my silver hangar medium mech levels or just write off the investments already made in those bots as lost and switch to the AG heavies I've acquired as event prizes. The game provides zero information to make this decision atm, as varying my hangar isn't producing different results in this "turbulence".

Yep - welcome to the Transition. You may have thought all of us IOS players who were whining and complaining were overstating our crappy experiences during the transition. Welcome to the Suck.
