Just another curious thread of mine. I'm not sure if there has been a thread like this but certainly not since I've been here so if there is, it's probably old and before Moon and certainly, Valley.
So I just wanted to see if there was a bit of a general consensus on what maps were favorable my most and if some were disliked by most.
List your maps in order from your favorite to least favorite or hated. If you play on a test server, feel free to include any maps being tested. Feel free to explain why you love or hate a particular map, or to discuss any particular maps you want.
I'll start:
1) Dead City 2) Valley 3) Canyon 4) Springfield 5) Yamantau 6) Moon 7) Powerplant 8) Shenzhen
Moon would be higher on my list if it wasn't so overcrowded with homing missles.
PP would be higher on my list if it didn't have the occasional spawn that gives 1 team the advantage.
Shenzhen, I really don't like because there is absolutely NO protection in center beacon, it's too symmetrical, too many buildings behind the spawns that you could chase someone around for too long and you can't really jump by those buildings cause you will get hung up on them.
Also, if you guys want or need to make 2 separate lists, one for Dom & one for BR, go for it.
Thanks in advance for contributing.

xXrobotrippinXx you are asking an impossible question for me. I like all maps and hate all maps, I cannot number them in an order. and I think the question should also include the game mode. for example, I do agree with what you said about the Moon map - I love it in DM but hate in BR, especially when red and blue decided to exchange their home beacons and that just became fixed. this one particular map allows much more dynamic battles in DM mode than BR. other than that, all I can say is that I don't particularly hate SF or Yam as some others seem to do. to me I equally like and hate these maps as others. sorry for not being helpful :/

1) Canyon. Absolutely love this map. Wide open spaces less b.s. factor when it comes to 1 on 1 duels whether it's sniper or close combat. It comes down to movement reflex and aim.
2) Valley. lots of top down angles to shoot and ambush spots.
3) Shenzhen. The map is square but the trick is to cut the square diagonally from the left or right side beacon so you can cover center when enemy leaves their spawn.
4) Yama. I like the angles on this map and it's much more strategic than simply grabbing center. If you are a good beacon runner you can win consistently by grabbing enemies spawn side beacon.
4) Moon. I like the close quarters combat but the main weakness of this map is that it's very vulnerable to ancilot rushes.
5) Dead city. Like this the same reason I like Moon. Lots of weird cover and hills make me like this a little less than other maps tho.
6) Powerplant. Not a fan at all. If you have even one lame teammate a comeback is very hard. It's also very predictable.
7) Springfield. A lame map with built in game imbalances at spawn points.

Don't have favorites or orders, just have maps I like and maps I don't.
Shen, yama, canyon, spring are 「dookie」.
Dc, moon, pp, valley are decent.

I'll just go with my gut response since trying to properly answer your question is tricksy. ??I hate Dead City because it's fugly and tiny. ??I hate Valley because of the music that won't shut off. Also, it's kinda small. ??Canyon is ok. The symmetry seems very artificial. ??I like Springfield because it's a decent size and I can play short or long range setups there. There are plenty of places to hide for my short range setups. I think it was better with the old starting positions and the back door area open, even though I hardly ever went out there. ??I like Yamantau because it's a decent size. It has similar artificial symmetry to Canyon, though. The center beacon is a cluster and can be annoying. ??I hate Moon because it's tiny. ??I hate Powerplant because of the lopsided starting positions. ??I hate Shenzhen because of the invisible wall that's has no observable difference from the rest of the map, and because it's tiny. I preferred the old starting positions and I never noticed lopsided battles like you get on Powerplant.
My dislike for the maps mostly comes from them being small. There are weapons that have a 1km range but half of the maps don't even have a clear line of sight that far. I know some people feel very strongly about long range setups being for campers. I mostly use close range setups because they are more effective for winning matches. I have been a giant robot pilot since the days of FASA corp. tabletop Battletech. We had miniatures but mostly used household stuff & imagination for terrain (piles of books for buildings, cups as towers, the occasional styrofoam packing block big factory, etc.). My gaming group never had the problems with our impromptu junk-based "maps" that I experience playing this game. There was always a place for SRMs and for PPCs; Flamers and AC20s. I realize that we're not working in an open world scenario here due to hardware constraints, for the most part, but since I started playing Walking War Robots I've thought that most of the maps were garbage. This probably stems from the stupid arena/beacon thing. 「whiskey tango foxtrot」 do giant robots need to stand next to spotlights for? Why aren't we given objectives like blow up the enemy factory or destroy the supply convoy? In my opinion: lazy developers. Oops! Was that a rant? Sorry if it became one, but that's what I think.

yamantau is the worst map ever in the whole universe.
Anyway for those who hate long range maps if find it having a gekko bot or two for sniping and screwing makes it not too bad.

1) Valley 2) Valley 3) Valley 4) Yamantau 5) Yamantau 6) Valley 7) Yamantau 8) Yamantau
Most of my games are like this.... LOL
Okay responding proper to the thread, I really can't rate maps from fav. to worst, every match changes, some matches in a particular map, makes you love it and makes you hate it. It's about who you're MM-ed with and your teammates, whether or not they're proactive enough to assist you in attacking a red when the coast is clear, and not just sitting there waiting for a clear & safe shot..!

I run mostly heavies so I dislike maps with too many obstacles like Powerplant and Springfield--spawning near Beacon A is especially hell for larger bots like lances and you get stuck a lot. The rest are pretty good--Yama, canyon, DC, moon, and valley.

Guess I prefer brawling to sniping. Also usually get more silver faster on smaller maps.

1. Moon, this map really works well with my hangar. It doesn't take 3 minutes to get back into the fight if you get destroyed. There are lots of good places to set up attacks with places to retreat to while reloading.
2. Dead City, for pretty much all the same reasons I like moon.
3. Valley, it's new and fresh still, it has great balance for both spawns, it has places for both knife fighters and range to perform well, it isn't too small or too big.
4. Power Plant, the balance kind of sucks but at least it's not too big and there is cover to move.
5. Shenzhen I really like the side with the low building but I hate the side with the high building.
6. Canyon, this used to be one of my favorite maps but now I mostly dislike it. Getting hit with trebs before you can even cap your home beacon is ridiculous IMO.
7. Springfield, Beacon Rush has made this map slightly more tolerable but it still sucks. So much running just to almost get where you want to be, then get destroyed and start all over again. If you don't take center first it's insanely hard to take it away. And taking it first is so much easier when you spawn dam side. This map needs to spawns rebalanced again and it needs more cover.
8. Yama too much time wasted running around, too much range that locks down the map, too many bad teammates that would rather snipe then help the team win.
If it's not obvious yet, I prefer small maps instead of spending half the game just trying to get into position.

No offense but this kind of ranking doesn't make any sense, as how you like a map depends also on the league you're playing in. You exemplary stated that you don't like Moon very much due to being overcrowed with rockets. This might be true for you but not for other players: I very seldom encounter a hydra bot on Moon. So given your league level I'd also say "Damn, I can't stand another round playing Moon" and at my level I say "Bring them on for some nice intimate knife-fighting".

I don't have favorites so much as one I dislike. Springfield. Everything else is fine. Well, I dunno...it's a small thing, but one other thing I don't care for is the music in Valley. I think it should be disabled. It's out of place.

1) DC its just a great setup to shoot each other and use your skills. Whichever team plays better wins. 2) Moon, as above but terrain is a bit boring (I nows its the moon but still lol). 3) Valley, I'm not 100% familiar with yet but so far its really well balanced for different ranges, interesting in layout, movement options and vantage points. 4) PP, great place to play, pity one spawn always has the advantage. 5) Shenzen is a bit blah, but it can go anyway and the game can change 6) Yama is ok, I don't mind it but the options are seriously limited. 7) Canyon is always fought the same way, boring. 8) Springfield - jeez! What a bore! Probably responsible for more people in the LQ than any desire for seal-clubbing.

My issue with maps comes down to my random blue buddies and how much opportunity the map gives them for random 「fluffernutter」tart behaviour:
1) Dead City â Blues generally walk forward and kill reds, usually canât help but get beacons on the way. Obviously there are exceptions, he odd camper, the odd guys who looks like he is getting the side beacon but wanders off somewhere. But in general most blues general behaviours is aligned. 2) Valley â Kind of the same as DC. Blues only have so much scope for daftness. 3) Moon â Generally ok, blues can only go two ways, campers generally donât bother. Some risk of no one bothering with the home beacons, but all manageable. Except for the guy with the Hydraâs, ruins it for everyone. 4)Shenzhen â Can lead to moderate moron level behaviour and chronic hiding. But can be quite good if blue what to win. 5) Power Plant â Can be good depending on the spawn point. But some of the spawn points give my blue buddies an equal look at 3 beacons, so my team can fragment with everyone heading a different direction to a lonely death. 6)Canyon â Can lead to sever camperism and centre beacon abandonment. With the right level of good support can be really good. Just need to be ready to fill the roll needed on the team. Once your willing and able to do the job that needs doing. 6)Yamantau â Everyone knows what to do on this one. Only question is whether my blue buddies are going to help me do it or sit back and watch scoring easy damage off the reds who are mecking me out. I have had some very frustrating moments, all alone at the bottom of CB ramp, looking back at all my blue âsupportâ. 8)Springfield â A cause for quite a bit of aggravation. You really have to cover two sides. Depending on spawn point randoms tend to move on mass in one direction leaving the other unresourced. Usually realise this mistake and then move on mass back again, just always seams to have too many blues in the wrong place. Someone always âforgetsâ a beacon.

1.Dead City 2.Power Plant 3. Shenzhen 4. Valley 5.Canyon 6.Moon 7.Yamantau 8.Springfield.
I personally hate large maps and prefer the smaller ones for CQC. I get really tired of campers and generally avoid big maps solo. I'm tired of being some campers beacon runner while he sits back only caring about his damage while the rest of the team that understand beacon control gets slowly meched out trying to do most of the work. Not fun.

Going in order from most to least favorite 1) Yamantau. Hands down my favorite map. 2)Moon. I like the close fighting, I like the symmetry of the map, it's the same on both sides, really. 3)Canyon. Plenty of cover on the outskirts, and just fun overall. 4)SPringfield 5)Dead City 6)Shenzhen 7)Valley 8) Power Plant.

I see what most of you guys are saying about it being difficult to answer and it being situational. I guess I should have made it more clear not to read in to it too much. Just try to make a list or note which maps you like and don't like, at this time, given your league. I also noted if you guys want to 2 lists, 1 for BR one for Dom, then go for it. My order of maps hasnt always been the same either. But there are still some consistencies. For example, No matter what league I'm in, I'll probably never really care for Shenzhen. I'll probably always love DC & Canyon. Valley is still subject to change from my #2 since it's so new. I'm mostly basing whether I like a map on its topography, so if I really love it's topography, I'll probably always like the map. I know I said I didn't like Moon because of "homing missles". In reality I don't like how easy it is for players to hit others on opposite sides of the walls, and practically from one end of the map to the other, with homing missles... due to its topography. IS anyone else staring at this thread thinking, "I would, but that's a lot of typing"? Haha? It doesn't have to be.

I am iOS D1 and I really like BR maps such as
Shenzhen Dead City Power Plant
mainly because they can often lead to less snipers and more brawlers. This often leads to a massive brawl at short range leading to a mech out or spawn raid.
V busy with work at the moment so a few chaotic and brutal and short goes of BR are all I can fit in!

Most of my choices are based on my favorite tactics: Move "fast", hit hard, displace. A few months ago my favorite 'Bot was a Tri/Fury, but the long range game with low mobility got old, but now I like trying to predict the red's movement and plans and then just trying to outmaneuver them. Here are my personal favorites...
1) Dead City - I like being able to evade reds long enough, while hitting them now and again, and having a teammate sneak up on them. Both available cover and lots of different elevations contributes to this. The buildings make excellent opportunity for me to use my run and gun strategy. 2) Canyon - Used to be my favorite, is still up there, though. The occasional points of cover are nice and allows you to move up slowly, but deliberately on your target. Slightly annoying with regards to the extreme side beacons as far as snipers, but you can still make your way to them if they are making a difference with the score. 3) Powerplant - Again, cover and elevation changes. I like being able to move around and I love it when someone jumps on the powerplant for elevated sniping because they're an easy target. The only downside for me is that I don't like the placement of the two beacons by the cargo ship since they tend to be both controlled by the same team. 4) Valley - I love the size of the map. Smaller, that is. Lots of cover, openings, elevation changes. There's something for pretty much everyone. This could move up higher or even lower as I play it more. 5) Moon - A lot of room for strategy on this map, but a lot of open space to be hit with a bombardment or rockets. I think my favorite part of this map revolves around how quickly and often ownership of the beacons changes during the course of the game. 6) Shenzhen - A good amount of cover, but unless you're playing Beacon Rush, it's a long walk around. I don't like that the center beacon is so wide open. 7) Springfield - Love the building side, hate the wide open farm side. As I use mostly short range 'Bots with maybe a medium range or two, I tend to get torn up making my way on the farm side. 8) Yamantau - With a passion I hate Yamantau. That center beacon with cover is the primary reason. Getting it and holding it for the whole game is likely if you work as a team, but it's not guaranteed. Getting across the map to try and capture the red beacons is also quite hard due to so much open space. You almost have to get lucky and hope that no one notices you.

right now i despise Valley reason 1: have yet to not have a late drop always 10sec to almost a minute (makes BR redundant to play for me) reason 2: always dropped into a empty after match is done. Always. (sent pix a ticket got generic reply back, ie: we are aware of problem) reason 3: seems like half of all shots go through all obstacles both cool and annoying depending on if you are doing the shooting or the receiving
other than that don't really care what map i play (unless i get a particular map 3 or more times in a row)

I only know that I hate Springfield for the sniping as well as its bland lack of colors, and Dead City for the ugly textures, despite having my share of wins and losses in those games, including great games.
I truly look forward to the new Dreadnought map, I am sure a lot of people are going to like it.
Of the new maps that were tested, Rome looks very good too. I can do but not truly fond of the map that looks like you are on a pier or a dock.
In any case, much to look forward to this game just by the maps alone.
