Ok, my Bulgasari is on it's way to level 6. At level 6, it will have 132k HP and walk 36 km/h. Not too shabby. Once I get to level 7, I'll have to pause a bit and upgrade some orkans. Once that's done, I'll continue to upgrade the purple beast.
Some thoughts on gameplay. Keep in mind. I ain't the best pilot for this. My best bot is the Rog, and I don't even pilot that all that well. I only have 5 orkans. 2 level 8, 2 level 7 and 1 level 5. So, at first, I armed the Bulgasari with 3 tarans. I'm just not that good with tarans. With the dash ability, my accuracy really tanked. Maybe when I get this puppy upgraded more, I'll put the tarans back on. We shall see. So for now, the level 8 orkans and 1 level 7 went onto the Bulgasari. My Rhino got a level 7 and 5, and 2 level 8 pinatas. My Rog gets 2 level 7 tarans. My Punishad (yes I put it back in my hangar), and RDB Griffin round off my current hangar. Plans to upgrade a Spydra will just have to wait.
I had wanted a Kumiho, for the almost unlimited dash ability. But, I'll take what I have. The first thing to note about the Bulgasari is that the minute you put it on the field, all eyes are on you. Literally. I could almost feel the blue team going "what the f---". As for the reds. Well, the minute they see my purple butt, they come after me with a vengeance. That's ok. With my orkans, I actually do a fair bit of damage before they take me out. I once took out 3 bots back to back before they took me down. Sure, none were full health, but it felt like one of those movie scense where the tall hero is surrounded by enemies and he dances around and takes out one after another before finally succumbing to too many swords and knives and other piercing things. That's how I would dexcribe it best. I respawned at a contested blue beacon, took out a Leo with a long burst. Harrassed an aphid Patton into hiding, traded shots with a RDB Griffin. Dashed to cover, traded shots with a Natasha. Dashed away. Finished off the aphid Patton. Took more hits from rockets. Dashed out, took out the Natasha, and then died under the combined rocket fire of 3 Griffins. See, EVERYONE wants a piece of the beast!
I love this bot. Base speed is faster than a Griffin, and the dash, if used sparingly, will get me to the action fast. The Dash doesn't go that far, which is fine. Less chance of running into things. But I can walk, walk, walk, dash, walk walk walk, dash, walk walk and be in the middle of action with the dash meter almost charged up. The Dash meter is strange. From the description, I thought that I get 2 dashes per charge, and 15 seconds to recharge the charge. But no. It feels more like 15 seconds to charge per DASH. I'll try to get a better handle of it tomorrow. Hopefully other lucky dash bot winners can chime in.
I like how the weapons are on one side. That makes for some great corner shooting. Something I've already used to my advantage. The shield on the left takes some getting used to. It's like having an ecu shield, but since I never used one, I'm not used to turning to the side to take fire. I haven't even had the shield break on me yet! With the weapons so high up and the bot so tall to begin with, I have a feeling that I'll have some good shoot from cover opportunities too. Especially on Shenzhen by the side beacons where thunder carnages and Griffins tend to be able to shoot unmolested.
Anyway, that's it for now. I'll keep posting here as I figure out more things or have more thoughts.

So, the orkans are working very well on this bot. It's a shame because I loved orkans on my Rog, but it's best to put weapons on bots that will make the most use of them. Tarans on a Rog is difficult to control and I get hit a lot more. Maybe I'll go back to doing tulus on the Rog. That was my set up for the Rog for a very long time. I believe this set up is called the mosquito. Damn. I need 2 more orkans! I'd gladly pay another $10 if that deal ever comes back.
I just had a crappy game with the Bulgasari, and a great game. The crappy game(s) were trying to defend a blue beacon from advancing reds. Way too many reds. The good game, I was on the Moon, and I had space move, and also some cover that was within a dash length away. This, I think, is the best sort of scenario for this bot, and I have to try to recreate this scenario on purpose. I could unleash a barrage of Orkans, dash to cover, corner shoot as I came out of cover, dash back. I was also able to make use of the shield until it broke. Yay, I finally lasted longer than the shield! I still can't help the fact that I'm piloting a big purple target, but I'm having fun and that's what matters. Still can't take an Ancilot though... dang, that thing is a beast and a half!

A couple questions koala, did you spin a silver chest for it? did you try the dash ability to dodge an attack yet and what your thoughts on it as far learning curve and usefulness?

I'm hoping it's blue, because I'll follow that guy around until we both go down.

I spent $13 on the 1000 keys and I opened 10 100 key chests. I got lucky - finally!
Anyway, yes, I've used the dodge ability to dodge attacks. It's gotten me away from RDB's, but not DB's. Actually, I can avoid much of the initial barrage from a DB, but because of the range, the follow up salvo will get me. Timing is critical. Like when facing a Griffin in my Rog, I have to time my dash/jump for when the Griffin reaches the top of its jump. That's usually when most pilots cut loose. As for dodging other attacks, you may dodge a few bullets or plasma, but they will catch up to you. I'm starting to learn to turn my bot to the side to catch the majority of the damage on my shield. But not only can I not attack like this, I also cannot really see where I'm going.
You guys ever play Front Mission 3 on the Xbox? The dash is like that. Or even Armored Core. It lets you side step some damage, but a persistent foe will follow you. It's best used with cover, so I've had my best luck on the Moon and Power Plant. It's super useful, but on this bot, it's not really a game changer. It gives me an edge but that's it. On the Kumiho (the one I really wanted), I'm sure the dash is more of a game changer. Dash in, dash out, at 5 second intervals. That's fast paced!
For weapons, I'm a red button masher, so I've haven't had much luck with the tarans, the orkans are doing well. Just don't fire while dashing. Good way to waste ammo.

I predict the first adopters will be bullet magnets to such a degree that they swap the bot out...lol. Open season on Dashes.

I wanted bulgasari but ended up with kumiho..... First thoughts it can't walk down slopes ....cant dash down them either ..... you can dash out over the side of things and get some air I'm running a spare pair of level 8 orks and I've spent all my savings on getting him to level 8 And yes every blue looks daggers at you and every red wants to kill you ,the dash is good for first beacon grabs but I'm still learning ,I think I still prefer my rog's or stalker but it's only been 24 hours ....

On yama it walks down slopes like a drunk tart in 8inch stilettos.. The ramps are bad enough but on the rough ground it crashes from leg to leg Other than that it's a Rog with no jump .... health is about the same ,I can get 2 dashes out of the same time as 1 griff jump .... I'm at the first beacon first ,lol.... speed on the flat is about the same as a rhino on a charge The few matches I've played on the new valley map felt good ,if you know what I mean ... I think it's been designed with that map in mind .... one dash between cover ,I've even got our left beacon then moved to the next outer beacon and got to centre before I bumped into a red ....

Really? I can dash down slopes and actually dash further when I do. Case in point, twice now, in valley, I dashed further than I'd intended. First time got lucky, second time smack into the middle of a rocket storm.

Only problem I've had is that I keep getting nailed going UP the ramp!

Yes at the moment I still do prefer my rog or stalker ... L 10 and 11..... My kumiho is now level 8 ( and I'm all out of gold) ....ive tried it with teran in this vid (L10) but I prefer orkan ....it wasn't so bad going down this slope with the dash but you can see it lurch down the last bit ,it's worse from the other spawn point I suppose it will take some getting used to ,not being able to jump over things ...and the few games I've had today on the new valley map , it definitely was designed for that map ,cover is a dash away ... it really feels at home there

The dash will take some getting used to. I love it because its similar to games like Front Mission, Armored Core, and even Omega Boost. No, you can't jump over things anymore, but you can pop in and out of cover fast. I'd put orkans on the Kumiho if I were to. Tarans are sustained damage weapons, and you really want to play the Kumiho like a whack-a-mole that shoots back. I think the only dash bot I'd use sustained damage weapons would be the Haechi with the ancile shield.

I saw 3 korean bots in one game last night against some champions. We lost, badly. They look really slippery though. better level up my second pair of taran and build a new PDB for a better counter.

Better to use rockets against the dash bots and use "short controlled bursts". Pop quiz, what movie was that line from, and what happened immediately after that line?
So, the most effective weapon against me - ie, the one that kills me most - has been rockets, rockets and more rockets. If you're facing a dash bot one on one, try to control how many rockets your fire at once. It's like seeing a fat Griffin and unloading a full rocket load, only to have it jump away as you press the red button. Try to imagine which way he will dash. Most often, when retreating, I'll dash diagonally backwards towards the nearest cover. You'll want to fire a short burst to make the dash bot retreat, and then anticipate where he's going and put your next salvo there.

Yeah ,because I prefer the smaller bots I use mainly rockets .....pinatas on the stalker and orks on the rog's.... maximum damage in the shortest time

I can't see any of the videos to see, but something happened to me when I tried to dash down an actual ramp, and not just an incline/hill. On the incline, I dashed further than I intended. On a ramp, I dashed but there was a pause at the end of the dash. Like basically the last split second of a jump and then the bended knees from landing from a jump. Which is weird cause I didn't jump! It's annoying.

Does that bug (seeing the video, it is a Mothra sized bug) effect just the kumiho, or is it a problem for all 3 dashbots?
