Or at the very least, make their fight pattern more realistic. I was on the Moon today in my Galahad and suddenly I was down to half health! All from homing missiles - mostly Hydras. 「whiskey tango foxtrot」? And earlier this week, I found hiding behind buildings was no help. Those suckers CHANGE direction and can turn on a friggin dime! How fair is that? I understand about upgrading for damage, but at least make the flight patterns on those suckers more real, for example, don't give them the ability to turn 90 degrees AT THE LAST SECOND before impact! It's like I have a magnet on my bot!! I respect skilled players who can arc the missiles so that they come from any direction, but come on? What's with the sudden direction changes? And I've noticed, I cannot outrun or dodge them as easily in a fast bot like Gareth or Rogatka anymore.

lol, have experienced that too. In truth I've become a classic map skipper because of the boost in strength to all the missles and rocket weapons. The last boost they did was not needed and changed them from a support weapon to a main front line weapon in some cases. I haven't played moon, dead city, in a month (and I play at least one hour a day) and rarely play power plant for the reasons that you lose 200 plus health in seconds and die from missle campers and have no real defense. Plasma or other you can fire back and it's a contest of aim and moving......with those weapons against you it's literally seconds and you can't do much of anything in defense.

If you can dodge an Aphid then we should be able to dodge these f-ing things. They annoy me so much that I am thinking about going to the darkside and getting a Hydra-Fuj just to be able to return the favor. I just started my dual Zeus upgrades so I have over a week to think about this. In the mean time just kiss every wall you can find or run an all ancile hanger. They nerf a gold weapon Aphid and make a WSP weapon impossible to avoid.

The dark side welcomes you - Hail Hydra! I have 4 Hydras ready for fighting the Dash bots. Are you sure that's gonna work? I was thinking about this myself in the Hydra thread, and am in fact leveling up three hydras right now to be plopped on a yet-to-be-acquired Fujin, thinking they might also be useful against the forthcoming dashes. Then I read in the weapon notes 'Inefficient against fast-moving robots'. Gonna have to be sure to keep a lock on them, and then carefully time those lobs against their second dash.

I can understand people using Hydras as they deal big damage without putting the bot at risks. Personally I find hydra gameplay boring and it's much more fun for me to cap beacons and use RDB's on Griffs.
I am quite an easy going player and very much pro people being able to play the way they want to but the amount of hydras and the dmg they do is starting to affect gameplay adversely.
I have been on a lot of maps only to find my blue teammates are quitting when the reds have 3 hydra bots demolishing the blue team.
Knife fighters capping beacons are finding it a useless endeavour as there are loads of homing missiles killing them not to mention the knife fighting red.
It's turning a good strategy battle game into a "winning team has most hydras game".
Some hydra pilots sit and camp and don't cap beacons which doesn't help the team win. I would agree that these things need a nerf simply to rebalance things a bit and allow the game to be a squad based shooter rather than missile frenzy.

To be honest, I didn't see the need to Buff missile weapons. They have a tactical advantage over other weapons by allowing a Player to shoot from cover. So, any lower damage values were mitigated by keeping said Player relatively safe.

What really sucks firetrucking butt is running a fast hanger with 2 or 3 beacon cappers. I dodge aphids easily with a gareth but hydras are nearly impossible to avoid and they really put a hurting on light bots. I'd have to say I play half as much as when I first started. And a lot of games are just a revenge hunt of hydra griffs and fujins. What really sucks now is I'm seeing them on Rogs and my ancilot will never catch them. I too bought a pair for an eye for an eye against hydra campers but I played them on my Rog at level 8's in Gold and it's so boring!
I've even been so tired of it, that I use my ancilot to push my own hydra teammates off of platforms or toward the center beacon. Maybe I'll start a thread promoting that.

Agree with that: I find up close knife fighting bots really exciting and fun to play. Sitting around firing aphids is sooo boring. With the OP on hydras we will have 5 slot hangars full of missile spiders - can you imagine how dull the game will be when it comes to that...? I mean 5 x Treb Natasha's is bad enough but multi hydras? Noooooooooo

They are annoying, however I don't consider them OP. If the reds spawn several hydra 'bots I am pretty confident of a blue win through beacons. I find a Gary one of the best 'bots against hydra - just turn your shield to the direction they are coming from, get to 350m and plasma them.

I like aphids. You can easily dodge them with anything that can run high 30's km/h. The only times I haven't been about to dodge or minimize damage from aphids is when I am running a heavy, or run forward instead of backwards or to the side in a fast bot. Plus, the extreme short range of aphids means that you have to get into range of EVERYBODY. And the minute the red team realizes that you're a dedicated aphid chucker, they come after you. Makes for a fun game and the challenge for me is seeing how many salvos I can get off in my Gepard before they hunt me down.
But Hydras and Spirals! The missiles come from EVERY direction it seems. And the range is brutal. 600m! So not only can I NOT find these buggers half the time, the other half, they're out of my range. I'm not asking for much. Not even a massive damage nerf. I'd be happy with a distance nerf down to 500m, and make the flight patterns more realistic. Hell, not even cruise missiles can change direction like that! Maybe make the missiles unable to change direction for the last 20 - 50m of their flight. Kind of like an attack vector where the warhead gets armed and the missile is at terminal velocity.
I've run a Spydra on my IOS account. It is SOOOO boring. On my main account, I have 1 hydra, and enought WSP to buy 2 more. I'm seriously considering on getting 2 more hydras so that I can arm my Fujin with them.

Just thought of a decent nerf for all missiles: make the firing arc smaller, ie, the green arrows from which the lock is maintained. This will make it more challenging to shoot from behind cover.

Buff your skills Lvl up yer bot Shut up and play! +DethHilt+ This is the DethHilt advice that I know and love! I was a little worried about you for a bit... but you're back I see! For the OP: For those that don't see it... it really is good advice. You have to keep in mind the fact that there is a a counter for everything and the homing missiles are no exception. Are they a PITA? Yes. Are they murder on light bots? Unfortunately, yes. Are they OP? No. Not IMO, anyway. If we are talking multiple Hydra bots... Yes it is freaking hard to deal with them in most cases. But that can be, and has been... said about anything... Ancilots, Thunder Carnages, RBD Griffs, etc. Hydras are more effective and they are extremely accurate... true. But a good Gala or Gary run can get you in position to get rid of them with minimal damage, or to whatever beacon/chokepoint you are wanting to get to that has the proper cover to block them. Tall cover is the best in my experience. Anyway, good luck! Don't give up! IMO, YMMV

At 500m away, you can't tell if somebody's got their nuts up against a wall or not until you either see damage or a wall splash. They are neither guaranteed damage nor invincible. They can easily be gotten to if your teammates aren't protecting you, I'd argue more easily than gekko/treb snipers. I use it to soften up the reds for teammates to kill easier and try to keep them away from beacons, and once in a great while I'll get a kill. The rest of my hangar is the Gareth I usually start with to cap the first beacons, and knifers -- to go hunt down whoever killed my fujin.

No they don't need a nerf. They have only JUST become useful again. I love the game right now, missiles, rockets, bullets, energy... All viable. Hydras are waaay harder to use than they look, if you are struggling then it's because you don't know how to counter them. Galahad can catch them on his shield and not be damaged... it's wicked fun A Hydra user MUST keep hitting to score any damage, they cannot afford to waste missiles. Frustrate them, wait for them to change targets... and close. Remember that they must maintain lock on targets as it takes ages to re-establish, this means a Hydra bot CANNOT watch their flanks and track a target at the same time. They are actually still one of the hardest weapons to use, 95% of Hydra users contribute nothing to the win.

You can hunt multiple targets while watching your surroundings, definitely. 2) Bots with physical shields, although they can be somewhat useful to counter the Hydra, I can tell you from running Hydra all the time that physical shield are worthless against the Hydra if the H-pilot assesses the location of the shield and simply shifts the launch angle to hit shielded bots where they are vulnerable. In fact, the way to really get them is to swivel and launch from several sides to confuse them so they don't know which way it will come from, and in this way you buy a few more seconds to assess which will be the best angle for the remaining salvo! If you really want to close distance on a Hydra bot, something with an ancile is the most ideal. However, one important thing to note for closing distance on a Hydra bot, is if the brawlers on their team are not in control, it is usually the end of the Hydra bot. 3) Since the buff to Hydra and gaining more skill at piloting with them, I can say it is definitely not true that 95% of Hydra users don't contribute to a win. Pilots from the several clans I squad with daily request Miss Mayhem, and we work on targets together by calling them out. Sometimes it is Hydra tag-team, but often it is just me. Anciles are removed then I launch. They are extremely effective for helping to mech out the reds.

They don't need to be nerfed -- they're already useless as they are. I've benched my Fujin with L7 hydras because it sucks. It doesn't hurt anything and gets chewed up by everything. Granted the bot is still just lvl 3, the way it melts right now I'd have to bring it up to 12 to do anything with it. After a week of mostly failures with this setup, I'm not impressed at all. Damage, caps, wins, pretty much every game metric goes down the toilet when I use it. The only time it's anywhere near something useful is if there's another one on the field or if I have a LOT of team support protecting it, which even wishing for is a laugh when the the total absence of teamwork these days. So back on the shelf it goes, along with the rest of the weeks of wasted upgrades.

HAH HAHAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Sorry but... all you gotta do is... improve your situational awareness... learn to count timings... learn to scoot around and flank them etc..the flight patterns are good enough itself, I don't see a problem with that. I'm not a Hydra user myself, but it is entertaining when you start to piss Hydras off, because they can't hit you. Anyhoos... HAIL HYDRAS!!!

I think something that ALWAYS hits should definitely be nerfed. Either a damage reduction or less able to turn around cover. Or even shorter range. Tired of just dying because someone who's payed to win is siting on the other side of the map vary skilfully holding the fire button while slightly tracking me.
