So right now, we have nine different Chapters within the Aurora Nova family of clans. That's a pretty good number, and because some clans are marked for different purposes than others- for instance, progression, or time zones- we get folks moving in between them fairly steadily- which we're always happy to accommodate. My rule of thumb whenever someone's put in for a transfer has been to ask them to simply wish everyone a fond farewell in clan chat before going, and we'd get them squared away.
Besides the obvious courtesies, there's a more pragmatic reason for this as well. People leave clans for all sorts of reasons. This may come as a shock, but a few people even leave Aurora Nova every now and again. But leaving always generates speculation, and in my experience it's almost always worse than the actual reason itself. There lies one of life's little ironies- sometimes by looking to avoid drama, we risk creating more.
To the dismay of some and the delight of many, I have made a decision that I am going to be stepping down as your Moderator here very shortly. I've given the team a head's up, and this is hardly "quitting in a huff." I'd like to give them time to fill the vacancy, then I'm turning in the badge.
If you're part of the TLDR crowd, feel free to stop reading here (assuming you've made it this far). The rest is the rationale for those who wish to know, but I can tell you it's not as exciting or salacious as "MOD STEPS DOWN UNDER MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES" The bottom line of it is that 95% of this Forum are the folks who constitute a truly incredible community. Some of the old faces have drifted away, some new faces appear, and all make this place the top exchange on the internet for War Robots information, culture, and fun. (Seriously, if you're ever feeling down about the state of the Forum, go spend 48 hours on Facebook, trust me).
But man, those 5% or so...
The beginning of the end came when one forumite happened to catch me a few weeks ago at 4am. As parents do, I was up with my crying 2-year-old daughter, cradling and rocking in one arm and distracting myself on the phone with the other. ("Doing the rounds," it's part of this job, I do it first thing in the morning, throughout the day, and before bed, seeing who's PM'd me for help with something, reported posts, etc). I was on- at best- three hours of sleep, so I definitely wasn't my best self, but this forumite had a problem with how I moderated a thread, sent me a PM on the board threatening to take it up with Strayed and Weed, and even tagged me on Discord. Upon learning that I actually had nothing to do with it, our imperious Little Lord Fauntleroy then told me to go find him a solution. "You're a mod. That's what they do. Help with the community."
This was clearly one of those record-screeching, "Yup, that's me, I bet you're wondering how I got here" moments- and a real eye-opener about how much I'm willing to put up with for a hobby. There are two misconceptions that have persisted and over time, eroded the enjoyment I've gotten out of this position. Misconception #1. We are customer service. Like 「fluffernutter」 we are. We're everyday posters, just like everyone here, who care enough about something to dedicate loads of effort to making sure the trains run on time. Volunteers. And whether it's being ordered to solve a problem at 4am or some other entitled nitwit ordering "Yeah, get that [image I find objectionable but can't stop looking at] the ?firetruck? off of there," they're equal measures risible and tiring. Same with the armchair anarchists, who suspect everything is some grandiose power play that it's their job to spit in the eye of. "Non serviam!" they cry, trembling with righteous indignation. The dregs and scourings of filthy slumdom, unwashed yahoos, jailbirds, night hawks, won't-works, 'burroo barnacles', and pavement pirates, all, or nearly all, in the scarecrow stage of verminous trampdom.* Who wants to put up with that crap? Jeez o'Pete! Misconception #2. I'm a moderator who posts on the side. Now this one, mileage may vary. But I've been very clear that I'm a guy who posts here because I like it here, and on the side I pitch in to moderate. And yet, periodically I get someone who feels the need to tell me how I'm supposed to be acting "as a moderator." And this really, really matters to them. I've consistently been a poster who moderates on the side- and now I'll quite happily be a blogger who posts on the side. Remember, this is 5% stuff, not the 95% stuff of people who- while we may not often (if ever) see eye to eye on, still quite happily make a positive contribution and impact on this place. Hats off to you guys. You made it worth doing, and it was my privilege to serve. I accepted the job to give something back to the community that had given me so much when I was new to the game, and I'd like to think I have. But just like the policeman whose job keeps them in constant, steady contact with the dregs of society, so too does this position require us to ingest a regular and unceasing diet of individuals whose conduct and contribution skew towards the dubious. Regular posters? They can click through if they see a thread go off the rails. They can pick and choose what they read as their interests and desires take them. They don't have to deal with the folks here who grass one another up with the Report Post feature over and over again, hoping something will stick so they can "win." The mods and admins, on the other hand.... So make sure you tip your server, ladies and gentlemen. And by tip, I mean make a quick post supporting the right call when it's controversial. It really does help chisel off some of the burnout when we have the support of folks we're volunteering to help. There's a lot of crust in our existing volunteer pool, and these guys get huge marks for continuing to do it even after much of the joy has fled. As for me? I know where this is heading. When I found myself not wanting to play a game of War Robots not because of anything to do with the game itself, but because I needed a break from the nonsense surrounding it, that was the mind made up. I'm getting out while I still enjoy everything. I have a tremendously fulfilling clan I'm a part of, a blog I love to do- and I've even been recruited to be part of the community admin team for the forthcoming Battle Titans. Who's got time for the negativity? * can't take credit for this glorious last sentence. It's taken from the Glasgow Observer in 1921 to describe Rangers fans.

So you want to be a top tier player once you start the game? Getting 12/12 bots isn't the sole purpose of the game. It's to have fun. Ok, then to answer the original question: $50. I base this price off of the years buying PC games. Every game (worth it or not) averaged between $39 and $49. I think that is what I played for some of the early mech warrior style games, and C&C, Blizzard games etc. for the PC. You can also base it on time. How much and how often do you pay to see a movie in a theater for about 2 hours of entertainment? If you sink more time into a game than you'd normally spend watching a movie, AND you are enjoying the experience, then I feel it is worth it to support the company that made it. With War Robots, I feel I would have been inclined to spend more money if the gold was sold at a lower price point. I've cited this sort of calculations often, and this is most in line with my thinking. I don't really understand the logic of putting price first. For instance, "I won't spend money on a mobile game." If you're getting hour for hour entertainment and buy console games...why the arbitrary distinction? I'd go one step further here and say that if I was getting enough hours of entertainment out of this game as I would two console games, then the "value" is $100. And so on.

This game is FTP. Unless you want to progress to top tier on day one of playing, there should be really no reason to play any money. $100 bucks equals 14000 gold. That's equal to a Butch or 3 Lancelots. 200 gold can be earnt per day if play reasonably during the event while 100 gold is usually the average on a normal non-event day. No reason to pay any money huh. All I have to do is wait 50 days to buy a Lancelot. Then 30 days to level it. Then another 90 days to level the weapons.... So 6 months later I will have 1 premium bot.... Sure thing It sounds like you're confusing "want" and "need."

I am 40 years old this year. I started on Atari way back in the day. Played Mech warrior on my first desktop.... How much did you pay for those titles? Is it just me or are mobile games getting rediculas selling In game content instead of the game itself? I spent almost $10,000 on mobile strike last year. I quit and switched to war robots hoping to relieve my wallet a bit. Now I find myself playing an inferior game if I don't spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I could fill my hanger with leveled robots and weapons....Or I could buy a big screen, an Xbox, ps4, new computer, tablet and phone.... Thoughts??? And I am slow playing not spending much. I spend some because I do believe nothing is free in this world...but $100 per bot.... Wow. And I am not just slamming war robots. This is all mobile games. War robots is actually pretty reasonable. But I was looking for some other opinions on this subject. What do you think? ...thousands of dollars?

I suspect that what you see in the Workshop is about all we're ever going to see in the Workshop. While I wouldn't spend them frivolously, they do tend to pile up after awhile. 3 Tarans, 4 Mags tells me you've put them to very smart use already. Is there anything in particular you're looking at?

When you're ready to look for a clan, I'd invite you to check us out at www.AuroraNova.net and apply if you like what you see. We have Chapters on Android and iOS both that have plenty of new players. We're people-first, not hangars-first.

Welcome aboard! Can't say I've heard of the other game, but I'm pretty game-monogamous. If at some point you do decide you'd like to be a part of a clan that doesn't "ride the clock" on your activity level and tyou can just have fun with, give us a look. Also, great av.

Would it be possible to get the entire bracket layout? I would like to see which bot knocked out other bots. Also how about a losers tournament for bots that got knocked out in the first round? My story ends here, but perhaps yours begins?

Hey Dredd77 I was thinking this morning about the fact that your likely to get relegated back to bronze, and in fact I hope that you do! No this isn't me wishing you ill, but it would prove out the point that points injection is working! Silver players need to go down to bronze to put points into the system for champions to accumulate them and have them destroyed! If it happens to you, it is sort of important, and a sign that the system is working! One thing Dredd can't do though I find these diaries fascinating is to see a fully objective battle without him where one of those million point battles occurs. That's fair. I usually snuff those fools out before they crest the quarter-mil mark.

Okay, for those of you not suffering from polling fatigue, I want to determine which War Robots bot is the Forum favorite! These will be quick snapshots- one a day then locked- so make sure you get your vote in!
This is it, who will be the champion!
The criteria can be anything you want- it's YOUR vote. Strongest bot, fastest bot, bot with the cheerier disposition, whatever. We'll keep going until there's only one bot standing!
For extra fun, let us know why you voted the way you did!
Good luck to both bots!

This is a rant thread & this was my rant to vent frustration. I don't expect fully for people to stop doing it because I posted this. Adjust my hangar and kill steal myself to get back? Yeah that's rich & probably what people are doing more of now eh? That's like screw onto others as they screw you isn't it? Love the mentality of some pilots man. Good ole brickheads. I'll just keep playing fairly & honestly earning my way instead of taking advantage of people. Probably fair to say you weren't entirely clear in the original, or simply fell under a snowball of misunderstanding that took on a life of its own. I agree 100%. If someone is simply durdling around waiting for the chance to swoop in and grab a kill, then that's a lot of time they're wasting. Poor teammate in both aspects.

zer00eyz That's a big part of this too. To see for myself what so many are frustrated about. I suspect that if pix adjusts the league score again the way they are suggesting that some of that will clear up rather quickly. I also expect that some of the top tiers will fill out. To your own point about being "over armed" and flush with gold I have to wonder what your experience will really be. So far, so good!
