That was beautiful! Love the narration of your videos. At first I was thinking.. hmm he does sound a lot like Sir Christopher Lee. Count Dooku is that you? Your videos gave me insight on many things, and now considering getting a Garreth myself. Thank you so much for posting them. You are a great strategist.

.... which is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak ( just a joke I was reminded of ) acethunder , you are about the third person who asked me that.. LOL. I trade oil and index futures part time from the comforts of my couch, hence the disposable income I recklessly squander away on War Robots. Congrats on getting your 5th slot! Regardless, the offer still stands. I had a good week trading the "Santa Claus rally"

mechmedoitThank you very much, glad you enjoyed it! couchtraderGod...seeing your answer it now seems obvious in hindsight, I'm disappointed in myself for being so naive. 20 self-inflicted lashings upon myself later! I've recently been recklessly squandering my income in game also, Pixonic did a great job getting me addicted on this occasion.

acethunder totally appreciate your OCD / self awareness but don't beat yourself over it. In a forum environment, it's as tolerable as getting away with "Hanger" instead of "Hangar" - and if there's anything that rattles my OCD, it's wrong spelling / grammar :-) Anyway, I am looking forward to your next video! For your future episodes, I would like to suggest playing in low level tiers such as bronze and silver to highlight different strategies in game play. I believe it will help the majority of the folks here especially the ones who are starting out. Other suggestions would be short vids on how to use rockets or specific weapons and tips on corner shooting, jumping, etc. I know there are videos on the subjects already, however, I would not miss an opportunity to hear a Capt. Piccard narration.

Watched every single video, and I had to buy a Gareth. And am so happy I did, never realized how versatile it is, especially with its height being able to use small things in the environment as cover. And totally gast enough to juke away from splash. Almost always start with my 8/10 Gareth. Fast enough to cap and versatile enough to defend and or disrupt. Love running into spawn on SF and making 2 or 3 bots halt March and return just to defend. While rest of tear caps. Then I switch to zeus Carnage and zap them all trying to return to rest of map lol.

couchtrader Yes I hear you, but one must uphold standards no matter what ;-) Thank you for the feedback and suggestion. I don't wish to cover topics that have been already trodden upon unless there is something genuinely new or informative I can offer. I'm aware I can be nice to listen to and a viewer might wish to just hear the voice, (in fact there is a guy I listen to on YouTube for that exact reason, but his excellent use of words is the main draw), but to that I'd simply quote the old adage "less is more". [ധ¡к¡] oDDD Thank you and I'm glad you've gotten something from the videos!

FWIW, I find your perspective refreshing, entertaining, highly informative, and unique. I play Bronze, and some of the guidance I have picked up from just your handful have vids have had a substantial impact on how I play this game. I don't believe there's any risk of you rehashing or retreading anything done previously by covering Silver and Bronze. Indeed, I'd be thrilled to see your take on surroundings more familiar to me.

... and perhaps a classical music intro to the likes of Marc-Antoine Carpenter's "Te Deum" Ha, as lovely as it sounds, I won't be adding any form of intro into my videos. For me, except for the first time you see them, they are then just superfluous and waste your time. The viewer should already know who I am when choosing the video, and return viewers should be able to quickly identify me by style of content, and that's more than enough.

Just wanted to add to the chorus of people here singing your praises. The videos are, without a doubt, the best combination of substance and presentation I've found on the game too date. The focus on critical thinking, which is universal, as opposed to specific weapon/robot builds, which will be a personal choice, is a refreshing approach. One of the few channels I'm actually subscribed to and I'm looking forward to the next one.
I can only hope you're at least getting a small commission from Pixonic as you are the most effective salesman of Gareth Model Sport Coupes to date.

[AurN]ZenotaphThe conceptual stages for the next two are fairly clear in my head, and I have 1 of 3 recordings captured for part 5. Been quite busy with work and real life recently and the sheer numbers of Trident users I'm being matched with is shutting down a lot of potential recordings too. mr7qThank you very much. I still remain surprised and taken aback by the general positive reception the videos have received, and will do my best to remain humble in light of this. I'm glad the format resonates with you.

hulkz1 Thank you very much! -------------------------------------------------- Whilst I'm here I wanted to give a quick update regarding the next video for those whom are interested in the series. I've recently had to design a new curriculum for my job, the first time I have undertaken such a task so it's been taking more of my attention. I have been playing and recording in the meantime with the objective for episode 5 to focus on 'Playing to your strengths' with differing robots and their abilities such as Rush, Jump, Phalanx etc. However in spite of my numerous attempts, I've been failing to find a consistently working set of strategies with the heavier slow moving robots such as the Lancelot (whom I wanted to feature), and found that I wasn't able to get any compelling footage due to him being blasted to oblivion by mid-range splash and Aphids, to which Rush simply didn't offer a good enough tactical advantage, no matter how 'tactical' I tried to play. Most players seem to use Lance as an aggressive 'boss' robot without concern for his survival, I was hoping to find more from him, but unfortunately as of yet, I have not. I have a couple of lucky videos with him, but it would be a disservice to the viewer to give them the impression such a performance has a high chance of being consistently possible when that simply isn't true from my experience so far. Alot of my opposition these days is high-level mid-range splash, which is making capturing what I would consider 'good' footage much more rare. When employing the 'Play to your advantage' theme with Gareth, at the moment that basically means being aware of and staying out of range of enemies that can cripple you in a salvo, and with the current trend, that's nearly all them now. So with that theme in mind most footage would end up with me sitting in a corner and waiting for the other players to bang against each other until enough of them fall down that I might feel able to move without losing most of my health. Not compelling footage I'm sure you'll agree! I may have to abandon my original premise of episode 5 in order to get something out there, it would be a watered down version featuring Gareth and the Griffin or Rogatka. Either way, a script is currently in the works. I can't deny I've been feeling quite disheartened and bored towards the game recently for the above reason. I'm eagerly awaiting patch 2.5 in hopes it will add more diversity of play, which I'm fairly confident it will. Thanks for reading.

acethunder Take all the time you need! Your vids have a trademark of thoughfulness and sophistication, and I would say that's what fans of the Lloyd Le-Mar channel (including myself) really appreciate. Like fine wine and cheese, takes time to create quality Think someone mentioned above - Pixo's outreach guys should be helping you out (Stew Pendous and The Center Beacon have said they receive free stuff from Pixo), but if they are not, I'm more than happy to contribute Au in-game (believe clanmates can gift each other) if that would help fuel your creative mind!

Very nice of you to offer assistance, but there is no need thank you. Keeping in the spirit of things I will simply have to use patience and attrition as most others do. In the end it will likely be for the best. Thank you once more for the offer though, very heartening and kind of you.

I don't have a Lance (yet) so I can't be absolutely certain, but he's a bot I've eyeballed while thinking about brickfighting in Gold. I see him as a bulkier, slightly better-armed Boa. The only real question mark in my mind is whether his base speed is enough to pole dance sufficiently. Brickfighting tends to make much of the splash da,age a non- or negligible- issue. Anyhow, perhaps that will lead you in an appropriate direction. I look forward to what you find!

Referencing the latest video on the "Mid Range Meta," I again want to thank you for your balanced and reasonable viewpoint on the game. I have a long standing promise to myself never to comment on YouTube videos, as mature as the discussion there may be.
Obviously, there seems to be a increasingly vocal concern about the Trident, which I agree with. I am curious as to your opinion on the Tulumbas/PIN Griffin (more immediate damage, more time to reload compared to the Trident Fury) and where they have a place in the game as you see it.
Personally, I think one of the key issues with the Trident is the fact that the 600m range is the sweet spot for the current map design which I hypothesize were designed around a 500m "mid range." Being interested in video game design before realizing other avenues offered slightly more reward and stability for the same skill set, I've encountered my fair share of both good and bad FPS map design, and I feel they are by far the thing that make or break games. On Shenzen, the Trident can shoot across the courtyard into the main avenues from cover. On Yamantau, you can reliably damage anything trying to protect the only beacon that matters from not far in front of the spawn, using the central area obscured from sniper fire. Canyon, you can shoot at critical beacons from good cover throughout the map. The other two maps are less egregious, but you definitely notice there is no down side to having a Trident Fury as a fourth and or fifth bot.
The reason I mention the above is that given how important the environments are to the game, increasing the robot speed I think would require a complete rework of the game and as such make it harder to balance rather than addressing the single outlier of the Trident. I do favor your ideas of changing the detonation range of the Trident to include a minimum distance or the projectile speed to allow better dodging.
My own suggestion would be to drop the range to match that of the existing mid-range splash (500m) and either reduce the splash radius or alter the projectile accuracy such that the CEP matches the splash radius. When compared with the Zeus, it also maintains the concept that energy weapons are longer range but lack the ability to penetrate physical shields that is demonstrated in the Orkan/Taran already. With the Trident being a WSP (i.e. "free") weapon, I would anticipate less consumer blow back compared to what has happened with Aphids.
As a related aside, if you're looking for content creation inspiration, I would love to hear your opinions on the shield bots (Knights of Camelot primarily, with Rhino and Raijin to a lesser extent) and their effect on the meta game as a whole. One can argue that the stagnation caused by the predominance of mid-range splash is a reaction to the prevalence of physical shields which ignore more typical mid to long range fire. You definitely seem to favor them and use them to great effect in your videos, but I trust you to be able to give them a balanced opinion despite your affinity.

mr7q And thank you for watching, I also share a similar stance to commenting on youtube videos as a general viewer due to the overwhelming reason, maturity and politeness that is exhibited there in general I'll address your points one by one as you have written them. The Tulumbas/Pin combination or three Tulumbases (instinct tells me to use this plural form) has only slightly less damage than three Tridents together, so the damage is not the deal breaker for me. I feel the Tulumbas has its place and has never felt unfair because of the carefully considered reload time and projectile speed, the former being the more carefully considered of the two in my opinion. It is possible to evade the Tulumbas if you have the time, reasonable speed and movement space to shift your bot at an opposing angle into the fire which results in most rockets missing. If only one of either of these setups existed without the other, I think my video would need not exist. Tulumbas/Pin setups have been around for a long time, and considering it consists of only silver purchases, a very common sight in higher tiers. Fury Tridents being a mixture of Gold and WSP means a much lower frequency of players using them, in theory. But they are becoming as common as the Tulumbas in the meta, and because most players at that stage have most likely already leveled a mid-range silver bot, the combination of both these setups being used at the same time is an 'add insult to injury scenario' with a constant cycle of splash rockets heading your way with little to no respite. So my stance on the Tulumbas is that it was fine by itself, but the support of the Trident (or vice versa) has tipped the scales too much in my opinion. I agree with your hypothesis, I've always felt an engagement range of 500-600m has been encouraged by the map design and Shenzhen is an clear indication of this. They all seem to follow a general trend of having a central open area, either with clear sight lines from afar and cover around the beacon, or a central open area without cover for the beacon but lacking those sight lines unless in a specific elevated position. Also all having flank routes with reasonable cover which seem to encourage closer ranges, with a few funnels either side of the central area. Yes, map design can make or break a game, I agree. I remember well in some of the older multiplayer games where there were clear favorites for me because of how they pushed the game flow. Using Shenzhen as an example again, it's blindingly obvious how the Trident 'breaks' the map's intended flow for the reasons you mentioned, same for Yamantau. With exception of Shenzhen, the maps each have an area of elevation that can oversee the central combat zone. It seems these were intended for snipers and I can see the logic the developers were going for here. To place this overwatch just outside of the typical mid-range combat distance (550m~) so that snipers can't be blasted by a splash weapon without the user having to move forward and place themselves at risk first. Due to the age of the maps and/or developer negligence, the Trident Fury was not factored into these design decisions, leading to their dominance on pretty much all maps. As you said, there is no down side to having one in your hangar. Regarding your point on my mention of increasing movement speed. I agree with you once more, and I thought about this while writing the script. However I didn't mention it because this information would already be immediately obvious for a developer (or map designer). The player needn't be concerned with such details and the point in my suggesting this was based on the circumstance that the developers wouldn't want to change the behaviour of the weapons and wanted the game to become predominantly mid-range, but still needed to help keep the player engaged. I like the speed of the game as it is and wouldn't want to see an overall increase. So I hope they do make adjustments to the behaviour of the weapon instead. When you say CEP, your meaning is Central Impact Point? It's an interesting idea to adjust that, I'd certainly be game for testing it, but if included with a range decrease then I'd foresee a rejection of that idea by players, as one of the key advantages to splash is being able to aim it carefully at the corners/sides of cover and if there is random deviation that caused it to uselessly hit the environment instead then it would likely be deemed too unreliable and become unused. Who knows though! Thank you for the suggestions. I'm perhaps a bigger fan of defense than I am offense, and I absolutely love having direct damage mitigating defensive options in competitive games, so when the shield bots were released I was a happy camper! I have been thinking about what other types of videos I may release. I would like to try something that is less dominated by large scripts to give me a little contrast. When I sit down to write them I always aim to make them shorter and more concise, but in the end they are always around the 3500 to 4000 word mark. The shield bots have no doubt been one of the main reasons that players gravitated towards splash weapons. This has been covered by several other Youtubers, and I'm not sure there is anything else I can bring to the table for discussion. I will keep in it mind though, and if I notice crucial game points in whatever topic that have been missed or omitted that are useful for the player to know, then I would likely cover that. Thank you once more for your thoughts and support
