With the possibility of a Proto-Molot I've decided to make a Golem using Ballistic weapons.
How would you compare the envelope and damage of a Molot carrying unit like an all Molot Griffin vs an all Punisher wielding Griffin. What is the preferences of one over the other and why?
and go!!!!!!

Oh, and how effective would each be in different tiers.

I wouldn't start building a bot until the weapon is actually available. Also, there are better frames than the Golem to build around. For instance, if you're looking at bronze/silver I would say that a Boa is a better choice.
Again, though, this is academic. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched. A guns-Golem wouldn't even be optimal unless the gun buff also happened.

Molot has significantly longer range; punisher's minimum range is in rocket zone which puts them range-level, and punisher griffins don't stand a chance toe to toe against rockets. Molots, however, outrange these rockers and can deal damage from quite a distance away, mostly unanswerable.
THUS
As tier increases (as rocket presence increases), there is a gradient of usage sloping from punisher towards molot in the higher tiers.

THUS As tier increases (as rocket presence increases), there is a gradient of usage sloping from punisher towards molot in the higher tiers. ^^This is spot on. I only add the details: 1.) that the Punisher is quite like the thunder in that it does better when much closer than the range listed in the description. 200m or less is ideal as the spread isn't too wide at that range. 2.) That the bullets from the Molot do more damage than the ones from the punisher... but... 3.) The Punisher has a much larger magazine. 4.) The Punisher has a much faster RoF, as well. As an aside, here are some thoughts about using them in the game as is, from my own experiences. Molots are actually decent in HS if paired with the Kwk on a Golem (Probably a Vitz too)... I have caused a lot of hate and discontent with level 7 of each weapon on a level 3 Golem in places like Canyon and Springfield. There aren't too many shield bots in that tier so the damage will tend to be felt. Fuijins and Carnages cause a bit of trouble with their Anciles, but otherwise large bots like the Leo and the Natasha and the occasional Griff get pelted with lots of bullets from over 600m. But, I only use it when squadding with people I know will be able to knife fight their way to taking the beacons. Otherwise, you will get flanked and rushed before you can do too much damage if your team is the average I have been seeing in that tier... as they will all be camping right along with you. Hope you brought some graham crackers and chocolate to go along with all the marshmallows the 'Tashas are shooting at the other team... Just sayin. At least in the Golum you have the speed to work around the edge of the map towards the Red side beacon... but even then, it just won't hold up against close rangers that have good close range weapons. It is meant to support your knifers, not take their place or compete with them. A concept that is rarely understood by most campers. If you have to ditch it to secure the win... then do it, without hesitation. Otherwise you are a liability. I haven't used Punishers in 3/7 hanger yet, but I have a couple, I think I will try it, just to see.

Tricky and salt pretty much covered it, but here's a bit from my own experience:
I use molots regularly up to about the 4/7 medium level, but rarely make use of punishers. Molots have accuracy and distance, and a 4 molot patton (probably my favorite bot) can do quite a bit of damage on a map where there's some open space to line up shots. I also run a Vityaz with a level 7 Zeus and two level 7 molots... he has wrecked a lot of bots.
Punishers, on the other hand, need sustained fire at close range, which is a terrible recipe for success given the prevalence of high burst damage rocket weapons and plasma. The listed 500m (?) range doesn't mean squat - you definitely need to be in tight and stay there to score heavy hits. I used them a bit at the very beginning, but phased them out in favor of other close combat options.
Griffin with all molots is great - blast away at range with the use of jump to gain separation / time to reload. The downside is this is also a space where the dreaded RDB griffin operates and I would be hard pressed to claim the molot Griffin is its equal. Don't bother with an all punisher griffin - just load up with rockets in that case because at close range the burst and jump combo is simply excellent.

Like many other posters have said, it's not advisable to get a bot kitted out for guns if the gun buff and Protolot aren't going to be released, and by the looks of it, they aren't. There have been a few instances where fully polished items ready for release do not actually get released into the live game, and the Protolot looks to be one of them. If you watch the official "Welcome to the World of Walking War Robots" video closely, you can see a medium slot autocannon that had working mechanics but was never released, and there has also reportedly been a test server heavy bot named Robespierre that got skinned but never made it out.
Personally, I do not think that the Protolot will ever make it into the live server, considering that new items were almost invariably tested near continuously from conception to release while the Protolot has been missing from the new test servers, and there are always balance issues to consider. The gun buff doesn't look like it will make it either, since it has been conspicuously absent from test servers for quite a long time. Long range guns and bullet throwers were actually effective at one point, but they were nerfed to hell in update 0.9.0 and are now nowhere as powerful as they once were. Projectile guns were killed by update 0.9.0 and the subsequent release of plasma, and there is no indication that Pixonic seriously wants to revive them anymore, which makes sense considering that they are the only weapon type that does not cost premium currency.

Try to ask them via Email. The response I got back was that "Blocks" in the game were keeping them from implementing the gun updates....got this email quite some time ago. Doent understand what "Blocks" are.
