Hi everyone. I'm a noobie in the bronze league, so please keep your comments polite. I know that I'm still learning about the game
Over time I'd like to have:
1 ideal beacon runner 1 ideal long-range support fighter / sniper (let's say from 700-1100 meters) 3 short - mid range brawlers that can reach their targets quickly. I like getting into a fight (while making use of cover)
I'm in bronze, and I'm trying to spend as little money as possible upgrading weapons and robots that I will not use in the gold / higher leagues. I know about crafting, and plan to use it
Here's my hanger so far. Could you tell me what you like using for beacon runners, snipers and brawlers? And in particular, what do you think about rhinos? I'd like to use their assault mode to quickly charge into the fray, but maybe there are better robots for what I'd like to do
Beacon runner: Gareth with Punisher T and Pinata Long range: Natasha with 2 Zenits and 2 Molots Brawler 1: Griffin, temporarily with molots. Can a griffin be a good brawler? Brawler 2: Vityaz with two pinatas and a thunder. Definitely don't like this one Brawler 3: Haven't bought a 5th slot yet

Consider buying another griffin for punishers if you want to brawl with it because it can hassle people at its 500m max range but makes shredded cheese out of everyone close up all the way to expert leagues do probably higher if you level it as you climb up. Also getting a 5th slot is very important. Some people have their hangars decked with 5 griffins because they swear by them. Try using your Molot griffin to replace Natasha because Natasha is just not viable enough past silver unless you're in the right place at the right time. If you can, try using the workshop to get an orkan to go with the piñata on your gareth. Later you'd might want to make a storm/gust shotgun gareth but that's also workshop. Try golem with thunder/tulu/piñata or Leo thunder/piñata instead of vityaz because even I never really liked vityaz when I was in bronze. I know it's a lot but I covered each slot you have and you need 5th slot man. Don't get stuck in gold league unable to get it like I did with my first main account lol.

Your builds are fine, and will get you through Gold, approximately, don't level these bots too high..
To your questions.
1. Kumi or Strider, Hover is also decent in this role (high HP, great when armed with Scourge/Spark) 2. Butch or Fury, Flux or Treb 3. Pursuer (I'm building mine with 2x Gust, 1x Shredder)
Rhinos are very dated, I'd advise against this investment, there are too many better options available to you.

Don't go too crazy in upgrading your stuff yet. Read the wikia and read stuff here and take people's advice to heart. Don't bother with the old bots. Keep what you have until you can build the newer bots. As for weapons, you need a RDB - Russian Death Button - build. It's essential in this game, even in the higher leagues. It's Tulumbas and Pins. I don't much like the Pins myself so I would put my resources into getting a Bulg or Haechi or Spectre as soon as possible and run it as a Tulumbas build. These bots have 3-4 medium weapons AND and ability that will protect it.
Punishers are great, but I would think about either the Avenger or the Tempest instead. The Tempest will let you put the hurt at up to 800m and the Avenger can still dish out pain at 500m. Flux is also a great LR weapon.
Zeuses are great weapons, but Dragoon is better, and either will last you quite a while.
Possible old bots that are good are Lancelots, Natasha, Fury, Golem, Griffin, Rogatka. Try to grind for stuff like Pursuer, Spectre, Mecury, Inquisitor, and yes, even the Raven.

Gareth is a competent beacon runner, small & fast, but weak against Orkans and the like. I would recommend a full plasma build (Taran/Magnum), that way you don't have to worry about Anciles as you rush in and start dealing damage once in range. A second choice would be a Stalker, it has Stealth and is probably the fastest non-Dash bot in the game. Recommend Gusts, if you can get them yet, or Magnums. Gusts you have to get inside the red's energy shield, Magnums bypass them.
The Natasha I would setup as your long-range sniper with Trebs & Gekkos, not that it isn't capable of brawling with Thunders & Punishers, just slow and easier to move in & out of cover from a distance.
Can a Griffin be a good brawler? Absolutely, the DB Griff (Orkan/Pinata) is widely used, and deadly. RDB Griff (Tulu/Pin) works similar and gives more range. Plasma Griff (Taran/Magnum) bypasses Anciles and is quite effective. A Full Shotgun build (Storm/Gust) was seen quite a bit after the introduction of medium & light shotguns, but it's fading away. Don't be afraid to run more than one setup for different ranges.
Vityaz I would consider replacing with a Golem. It has slightly better armor and a little more firepower. I run 2 with Thunder/Taran/Magnum setups as my brawlers and a 3rd setup for mid-range 600m. If you are already invested in it decide to keep it, work toward an Avenger to eventually replace the Thunder. It's fire rate and reload time is similar to the Punishers, so you will have excellent sustained fire, but will be vulnerable during reload, where the Thunder would still throw lead every few seconds. Something to think about.
A 5th slot in the hanger. A lot of gold to work toward, but is it worth it? For me, yes, but I have seen people make it up into Expert League with just one hanger and 4 bots. The upside is versatility, adding a different setup that may be needed to take down a red that's been dogging you or you're in a situation where you're brawling and don't want to drop your long-range bot into the melee. Attrition is another good reason, I've had several battles that come down to the wire and the player with 1 bot left to drop wins. It helps round out your hanger as well. I usually run 2 brawlers, 2 mid-range, and 1 long-range.
Good Luck on whatever you decide.

How you liking that Gust/Shredder Pursuer? I just added the Shredder to mine recently, so it's only at lv3 right now, but I am getting multiple kill streaks just like I had hoped. Eventually I might like to try a Halo, but can't build one yet.

It is a build I run into quite a lot against top players...seems very effective.
I'm also experimenting with Gust/Exodus for my Strider.

I definitely agree about the fifth slot, and I'm saving my gold for that. I'm just not there yet, so I was just wondering what to put in there once I have it

I was just about to put my lil level 7 Exo on my Strider (Gust and Halo atm, but could turn it into 2x Gusts) to try...
Now, I'm interested in how you find it before I give it too much of a go.
IMO, YMMV

Like so many times, I'm running this b/c superior pilots have used it with good effect on me.
The philosophy might be something like this:
- save 3 or 4 dashes if possible - gang up on a lone red - use the first dash (or two) for the initial ambush - start your salvo, and let them start their return, as soon as they do, strafe dash - if they get help, hopefully you have at least one dash to return to cover - have fun!

I understand that robots come down to personal preferences, so from your experience, do you like the Stalker or Gareth better? Is a Natasha not so good in higher leagues? (Is a Fury a good investment?) What are the disadvantages, if any, to having 3 Griffins, in which case what do you recommend for other brawlers? Again, I know it all comes down to personal preference Everyone has been a tremendous help so far by the way. Just need a few more thoughts from Desert Eagle about the possible cons of my hanger

I'm using a newly acquired Strider as well, only lv5 so far, but having fun. Currently setup with Pinatas and a Thunder as a sacrificial lamb to capture the center beacon when playing BR; however, I get a surprising few kills with the wide area it hits. Eventually I would like to work toward an Ancile with 2 Shredders. Zip in...Root...Zip out, let my teammates finish them off. Working on a 2nd Shredder now, but won't be ready to swap out until I can get Halos for the Pursuer.

Okay, so robots first: To start investing for the gold league and beyond, here are my thoughts. I know that we all have preferences, but is there anything that sticks out like a sore thumb? That is, dated or less useful robots like the Rhino?
Beacon Runner: Strider Support / Long range: Butch Go out and kill 'em: Pursurer, Spectre for sure, and then either Lancelot or Carnage (should I get another speed bot or have a robot with a lot of meat?)

I would use the Stalker if I were you. If you get good with the Stalker, then you will be awesome when you get a Pursuer in the future. That's great, because I've already started investing in a Stalker at the workshop Stalker over Gareth, stealth and a slightly faster speed makes it the choice for me, though I did run both for quite some time.
iFail has a thread documenting his quest to kill every other bot in War Robots with one: link
Once Gusts were introduced they quickly became the preferred weapon. Work toward a Pursuer in the future, it's a Stalker on steroids.
Is a Natasha still viable in higher leagues? I still see a lot of them in Diamond, and have a Trident/Pin setup I run from time to time (looking forward to the Trident buff). Movement and durability are similar to a Fury, but the firepower of the Fury wins out. I wouldn't buy one outright though, instead I would hold off and hope to win one out of a silver chest. I usually save up enough keys to open 3-5 silver chests at once and have won several bots as a result, a Fury, all the gunslingers (Jesse, Doc, Butch), several Griffins, a couple Leos & Natashas, several Golems, even more of the light bots.
My initial advise was to maximize what you have now and what earlcampbell advised is what you should be working toward for future play.

Yes, making better use of what I have now makes a lot of sense since I won't have my complete team of perfect robots for a while. Thanks!
