So I'm in a bit of a quandary at the moment:
I'm currently running a Thunder-Orkan Lancelot, DB Griffin, Zeus Carnage, Plasmahad and... an ugly duckling (Griffin with Tarans and Aphids). (All bots/weapons around 9-10.)
I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on Griffins in general and what does everyone think about the Taran Aphid combo? It seems to do just fine. In close quarters after I launch the Aphids, people think I have Orkans so the Thunder Carnages and Orkan Rogatkas rush in only to realize that I actually have Tarans and it was a mistake... but there are other times when it doesn't do much and I believe a different load-out would be better.
If I do change it, it would be with me buying 2 more Orkans and running a Stuka Griffin, DB Griffin and the Thunder/Orkan Lancelot OR buying an Ancile, and switching the Orkans from the Lancelot back to the Griffin and turning him into an Ancilot and retiring the Thunder for now OR refitting the Griffin with Magnums and running it as a PDB.
So option 1 retro-fit:
Zeus Carnage Plasmahad DB Griffin Stuka Griffin Ancilot
(1500 Au spent)
option 2 retro-fit:
Zeus Carnage Plasmahad DB Griffin Stuka Griffin Thunder/Orkan Lancelot
(2400 Au spent)
option 3 retro-fit:
Zeus Carnage Plasmahad DB Griffin PDB Griffin Thunder/Orkan Lancelot
Thoughts?

I currently use both a Spydra and an all-Molot Griffin. The results are inconclusive since I'm still leveling up the weapons to perform as expected in Diamond 1.
I also have a 「illegitimate child」 version that has two Punishers, an Orkan, and a Taran. It's only that way because I haven't leveled a second Orkan to 11, yet.
I have yet to use DB or RDB variants. I'd like to, but just haven't cobbled together a sufficient gear setup yet.

I am the prophet of the Gunship & Leadhose Griffen. I am here to spread the message of the love that can be had with these two ships. The Gunship gives you range. It gives you control. It gives you the ability to be like AT&T, because you can reach out and touch another bot. It allows you to be like a traffic cop, forcing the red team into cover, or into an ambush by your other blue team members as they try to avoid the scathing fire you rain down on them. The Leadhose gives you control. It gives you strength. It gives you the ability to force other robots to run and hide for cover as you rain lead down upon their unworthy heads. Ancile shields? Why even have them when you face off against those red team mooks. You will shred their shields. You will sap their energy. You will drain their will to engage as they watch their health meter just drop, while your fire continues to pour down on them.
Yes... The word of the Griffen is powerful, and even more so when you utilize the cheapest, and most basic weapons available to mow your opposing enemy down.

1st option.
In prep for Dash I'd want at least one Taran Ancilot on hand. The Mk 1&2 are susceptible to plasma and the Ancilot is one of the best plasma platforms available at the moment. It's survivability against splash or plasma make it ideal for having a straight up fight with a Dash.

So I am interested in the leadhose version, but do you really do enough damage with it? What about the close maps? Is this set-up effective on them (dead city, powerplant, moon)?
Also would you have that in a line-up with the Zeus Carnage or is the Carnage sufficient range capability?

I've had a RDB Griffin in my hangar for about a year. It was always a good bot, but now it's really really good bot. I wouldn't run a hangar without one.
My second favorite Griffin set up is the Death Button. Lots of fun to play and a great damage dealer.
I've used Stuka, PDB and Molot builds in the past. They were neat to try, but they weren't my cup of tea.

My standard go to hanger is GunShip Griff, Leadhose Griff, DB Griff, and Zeuss/Thunder Carnage (depends on my mood) The leadhose is all punishers, and it's effective. Really, really effective. Like anything else, it just takes getting used to the bot and the style of attack that you have to use for it. It's most effective when you have your target and you start firing before you get an angle on the red bot, so that they spool up. But it shreds anciles, and it just pounds away on any bot you are firing at. I use it by attacking, and then use the jump to control range. Since it's effective out to 499yds, I start out and move in and use range (if applicable). Especially against rockets (not Pin/Tulu's) and plasma. The sustained rate of fire is pretty impressive. Even the brit bots will fall under the amount of lead that you can send their way. Use angles and height to be the most effective. I need to figure out how to do a video of a match and record me using both so that I can better explain to others just how I do it.

I was not a fan of the PDB Griff until recently. I ran 2 Plasma Ancilots, a Thunder/Ork Lance, a DB Griff and a RDB Griff, and was fine. After 2.9 I replaced one of the Ancilots with a PDB Griff, and have had much better luck. Now that most shield bots are being benched (except the Lance), the PDB is very effective.
