I'm sure we've all had that game. The one where against all odds, you carry the team to a photo-finish victory. This one just felt particularly satisfying. And given a lot of the vitriol as of late, I thought this happier thread was appropriate.
So, post your come from behind, bad-「bum-bum」, story that gives John McClain a run for his money.
Mine:
I drop as per usual in my plasma Gary in Powerplant. I take one side beacon, while a teammate takes the other, closer to the boat. I'm immediately defending my beacon from an aggressive Rog, but he ends up meeting the business end of my Taran/Magnum setup, and my nearby partner helps finish him off with splash damage.
I notice that the reds have taken our home beacon and move to defend. I help finish off the interloper and then move to take the beacon on the hill, foolishly thinking that I'll have backup. Before I can make it to the beacon, end up in a fight with 3 reds, and while they take me down, I take one with me. All-in-all, pretty good for my 9/9 Gary.
Next I drop in my Leo and immediately notice that all my hard work has been wasted by my team. We're now 4-1 in beacons, and I move to take back our home beacon. I take out the nearest red and move towards the side beacon, second from the ship. I notice that we're already down a teammate, and am already wondering where I'll place on the losing side list. A teammate takes back the side beacon and I push for Red's home. I end up catching heaving fire from a red sniper, and a RDB Griff finishes off my poor Leo.
I drop my PlasmaHad, and see reds pushing towards my side beacons again; at this point, it's a labor of love. I end up taking on two plasma Fujins, who apparently are not familiar with corner shooting, and make short work of both. I retake that problem child side beacon and then take the Red home beacon. That draws some unwanted attention, and after a protracted firefight, I lose my third bot.
At this point, I opt for my work in progress an (almost) 7/7 RDB Griffin. This is my first Griff, also my first jumping bot (outside of the test server), and I am still learning how to use him. I take out a couple of low-health reds, and take back a couple of beacons before he's overwhelmed by a push back and quickly destroyed.
At this point, I'm down to my Treb-Carnage, and I see we're 2-3 on beacons, with nary a minute left in the game, and the dominance bar is close to even. I push and take back our home beacon (geeze, you'd think we'd be better at guarding it!). I see a low health red moving to retake THAT side beacon again. I take him out with my trebs, leaving us now 3-2 in beacons and less than 30 seconds left. I move to counter the few remaining reds, as it's now 3 vs 3, and just as I move into range...
The game ends. A narrow victory for us, the hard-fighting blues. I wait to see where I placed, and was not not totally prepared for how critical I was to this victory.
While this is not even close to the first time that I have carried the team, I have to say this is probably the most satisfying victory to date. This is definitely one of those moments when I remember why I love this game. If you have an incredible tale of daring-do, or even something fairly entertaining, then post it up!
